Great monsters! Good plot idea. Crappy characters.
Lucy, the 22 year old main character thinks, talks and acts like she’s 12. Her brother , who seems to be 4 years younger acts 10 and is useless.
Austin is badly written and seems to have problems speaking. Noah is undeveloped
Lucy’s ex is a caricature as is his mentally incompetent, ridiculous girlfriend.
Its a shame these wonderful bat like creatures didn’t have a supporting cast.

And my personal pet peeve, the book just stops..now buy book 2!
No thanks!

Look out below!

Absolutely loved it! I read this very quickly because it was so scary. I fell in love with the main characters and I loved the way they came alive. This is one of those books where you can imagine that you are there. The creatures are interesting to say the least. Imagine going up against hundreds of creatures that come out at night in order to hunt you down. This book takes you into that nightmare and a fight for survival. I can't wait to read the next book.

Loved this book! Did not put it down, read it in one sitting. I would have given it a 5 star but I had difficulty getting past some of the events. Spoiler—- your world has been turned upside down and you are worried about who will run the farm? Can’t wait for the second book, Hurry please!,

Awesome

Kellee Greene never disappoints. This book is a great start to a new series. I have no clue how she comes up with her scenarios but her mind must be a fascinating place.

What is in the dark

Being one of the few survivor's is hard. However, in This new series brings a whole new meaning to fear.

I absolutely loved this. I liked that things started off normally and then went nuts. I liked the creatures and the characters and the bit of romance.

The story is good

I am happy I decided to start this series and I am planning on reading the second book. The story is original and kinda scary in some parts. I thought the author did really well with an original story. Now the reason for a 4 star review.. 1- the story progressed way to fast. Yes Lucy has known Austin all her life by the stays with them for less then a week and then bam! They are falling hard for each other? It is weird. 2- Lucy says her mom is not headed and stands up for her self but it completely contradicts this in the story clearly the gender roles are very pronounced. 3- it is pretty much the end of the modern world as they know it and Lucy the main character just flushed perfectly good medication because it was an anti depressant?! That is insane they can't just go to hospitals anymore! No sane person would do that. 4- she makes fun of Bradley for his scrappy packing skills but she has yet to pack anything! I know this might be knit picky but it just doesn't make sense.. I wish the author just would have taken more time of made the book longer to iron out these details and have the book flow better then just bam! Here is everything all of a sudden happening. When in reality it wouldn't have. That being said I do think the story is original and I can not wait to figure out what these creatures are and what is going g to happen to lucy, Austin, noah and marty. Bradley could just get eaten by the creatures for all I care.. I hope the next book is better! Sorry for such a long review and if it is jumbled I don't write very many reviews.

This book was action from the very get go. The first chapter started with a major event. It kept moving from there. I loved that while reading this you never knew who would live or die. You never really even found out what the creatures were. They were just everywhere. I can't wait to read the next book.

I like horror but this was cringe.

The premise seemed good and I was excited to kind of read this book. But the characters feel completely flat and the romance happened so fast I honestly didn't feel anything for any of the characters enough to even be excited for them. All in all a really flat kind of horror. Three stars because I thought the monsters were kind of cool.

Wow!

You talk about a creature feature!!! Holy crap! I haven’t come across a book with creatures like these before…and I’ve read a LOT of books. This would terrify me to death! These kids have a long way to go with apparently no one to give them help. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

*FAVORITE SERIES OF THIS AUTHOR! Wish there were more books to it!*
These are some of my all time favorite post apocalyptic/survival books. I have read almost all of this authors books and have loved EVERY SINGLE ONE! My only complaint, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is all of the spelling and punctuation errors. Otherwise, they are all amazing! Quick, fun and intense!

Really good

Really different from your run of the mill zombie stories. It is almost believable that a race of beings could exist along side of us underground.
