Bad Boy Rocker on Trial - The World is Watching! (Dark Star: Confessions of a Rock Idol, Book 1)
Ever since he was a kid from a troubled home growing up on the gritty backstreets of Cleveland, Ohio, Everett Lester longed to be somebody, to make a name for himself, to prove to his parents and the people who looked down on him that he would rise above, make it in this world -- and make it big.
Everett's garage band, DeathStroke, played bars, pool halls, and anyplace they could get a paycheck. Then a record label discovered them and the band experienced a meteoric rise to the top of the record charts -- and super-stardom. Despite Everett's unfathomable popularity and riches, he was spiraling out of control into a dark existence where everyone wanted a piece of him. He could find no privacy, genuine friends, joy, or contentment -- even though, in the world's eyes, he had it all.
When Everett begins to rely on the services of a personal psychic from L.A. for guidance and solace, he gradually finds a sinister form of evil seeping into his fractured life that threatens to end his career -- and possibly his life.
Through it all, he receives uplifting notes from a young lady in Kansas who claims she's not a fan, but a friend -- someone who sees his desperation and depravity -- and is praying for him.
A murder trial ensues. The eyes of the world fall on courtroom B-3 in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Grab a front row seat and hold on tight. Dark Star is one of the wildest rides ever encountered in modern inspirational fiction.
You Can't Outrun Your Past - Even if You Were a Superstar (Full Tilt, Book 2)
Everett Lester, former front-man for the heavy metal band DeathStroke and one of the world's most recognized celebrities, has turned over a new leaf. The Living Water Tour will take Everett back on the road as he performs his music for a new cause -- but he quickly learns that outrunning his dark and tumultuous past will be impossible.
Everett's wife, Karen, has received news that has rocked their world.
Everett's gambling-addicted brother Eddie and the rest of his deteriorating family greet Everett's new ambitions with hatred and disdain. And when the Mob closes in on Eddie, Everett and Karen are dragged into a nightmare-like world of unthinkable threats and diabolical violence.
As if that wasn't enough, Eddie's son Wesley blames Everett for his brother's death. When Wesley hooks up with psychotic Tony Badino, the two meth-heads and their gang will stop at nothing to bring Everett down -- and whoever else they need to take with him.
Will Everett and Karen survive the aftermath of a rock idol's life?

Are going through ups and downs in "living" their faith in their daily lives, their moments of challenge. As a Christian of many years, I have long been secure in God's redemption of my soul ( "justifying grace"). What I have trouble with sometimes is my trust in God's sanctifying grace--His promises to deliver grace and growth in my day to day walk. I experience fear and anxiety even when I know they do not help any situation, but rather make it worse. What Dark Star and Full Tilt have given me are many examples of how everyone feels this way sometimes, and the tools they use to combat it: breath prayers (Help me, Lord. ... Protect them, Jesus. ... I trust you, God.) These are important and God hears them, but if my fear is great enough, my mind closes and does not let Him take away that fear. In these books, the characters use group prayers, remember scriptures that remind them that God is present in the situation and has a plan for it, stop before they act and let God lead them in what they should do and not do, and other tools. I was inspired again and again by what ordinary people can achieve by putting their faith in these tools and remembering! to use them. And that God is at work even when they forget to use them. Not perfect people, just like me, but who are able to trust God to be in charge. I don't what non-believers think of these books, but I think for the rest of us they are a must read. Thanks, Creston Mapes.
I was reluctant to start, I loved it so much though!
These books didn't really appeal to me at first. However, once I got into it I was sucked in. Then I couldn't read it fast enough! These books is so great. There are lots of ups & downs. You see the influence demons can have on your life. You also see what its like to be on drugs. How money corrupts. How rock stars get away with slot by throwing money at things. And they have lawyers they pay round the clock. That just blows my mind. In the first book the demons & a psychic team up to use Everest to spread the devils lies. The biggest being there is no heaven or hell. In the second book Westley is into so much more that his parents know. On top of that they don't know how to be parents. They throw money at them & there are no consequences for anything. Things get worse when older brother Eddie tells Everest that he needs money asap or these people are going to kill him. That's when Everest meets the mob. On top of that there is a psycho who has be friended Westley that's Dad is high up in the mob. Tony is his name. He is crazy & torments Karen & Everest. Can Everest's family survive the mob?
Both books one and two are strong fives from my ratings. I really like the writing style of book one. Everett wrote his life Chronicles while he was on trial for murder. The trial Chronicles blended well with the life story and at the same time created yet another suspense thriller. It was like reading two separate stories.
The character strength in both books were strong and well developed. You could never really tell what was going to happen next. I thought both books did an outstanding Christian outreach message. Both books highlighted the truth of trusting God at the same time you feel life's struggles.
You will be drawn into the lives and suspense of the different characters. I want to thank Creston for not using foul language, graphic violance or perverted sexual overtones in writing such entertaining stories.
Rock Star Chronicles ROCK!!! I chose this title bc Im a Rock Musician, a CHRISTian, and read the Signs of Life series by Creston Mapes and loved it too! Im going right on to the Crittidon Series too!
Creston Mapes delivers a masterful blend of suspense, redemption, and rockstar excess in Dark Star. Everett Lester’s journey from self destructive metal icon to a man hunted by sinister forces is electrifying. The novel’s strength lies in its authenticity. Mapes doesn’t shy from the grit of addiction and fame, yet weaves in a profound spiritual battle that feels organic, not preachy. The courtroom drama, psychic intrigue, and the mysterious letters from a praying stranger create a page turning tension reminiscent of early Dean Koontz. A rare Christian thriller that appeals beyond its genre.
