It’s a special night in Haunted Hollow, Alabama. The second most haunted town in the country will witness the yearly appearance of the spirit called the Backwoods Banshee.

Blissful and her gang of ghost wranglers, Ruth and Alice, are ready for the sighting. But when a rival band of geriatric hunters bet the Southern Ghost Wranglers that they won’t see the banshee first, the deal is on. The cost of losing? Public humiliation.

Blissful is determined to win the wager. Yet when the bet leads to murder and Ruth becomes the primary suspect, Blissful is determined to prove Ruth innocent.

If only life were that simple. To find the real killer, Blissful must strike a deal with the batty banshee, turn to her long-lost biological mother for help, and face a future that may not involve Roan Storm, the man Blissful is crazy about.

As Blissful closes in on the killer, she finds herself in the sites of the murderer.

Can she solve the murder before Ruth is convicted of a crime she didn’t commit? Or will Blissful become the killer’s next victim?

Hey, I’m Amy,
I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life.
And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World.
If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me.
—In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office.
—I worked at Carnegie Hall.
—I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one.

Out of all of the murder mystery’s I’ve read from Amy Boyles so far book four of Southern Ghost Wranglers reigns supreme! This book had it all, first and foremost the way this murder was laid out was perfect. Everyone in town is waiting for the Backwoods Banshee to arrive, a lady ghost who haunts the area. She only shows up once a year so you could only imagine the pageantry that goes on when she arrives! Haunted Hollow basically turned their forest into a full fledged tailgate party, except this tailgate ends in murder. There’s a rival ghost hunting firm in town ran by another set of old ladies. These women claim to have written a book all about hauntings and ghosts. Except, on the even of The Backwoods Banshee arriving one half of the ghost hunting team is killed. Cora is found dead in the forest and no one saw or heard anything. Blissful gets right to work to solve this murder! Alice and Ruth play a major roll in getting this investigation off the ground. Roan and Blissful are closer than ever. But, like I explained in my previous review of book three something happened at the end that was incredibly shocking. Blissful’s mother shows up! Yea the nun who apparently gave her up at birth is back and seems to want to have a relationship with Blissful. Is everything what it seems? Is this really her mother? And how did this woman find Blissful. This book is so entertaining because there are quiet a few things going on at once. If you haven’t experienced the haunted worlds of Amy Boyles you need to start now, I promise they will be some of the most joyful reads of your year.

A rival group of older ladies think they have the market on "Ghost Hunting" in Haunted Hollow, and they aren't playing nice. On the night of seeing the Backwoods Banshee, there is a bet made, the first to see it gets to claim superiority and the others get taken down a notch in the local paper. Who knew ghost hunting could be so cut-throat, but when you are dealing with older southern women, all bets are off! Unfortunately nothing goes as planned and someone ends up dead, and Ruth is being accused! So far it's just another day in the life of Blissful, that is until someone calling herself "Tart" shows up claiming to be her biological mother.

Now Blissful has to help Ruth, figure out who really killed Cora, continue her relationship with Roan and now navigate something with her mother, oh and then there is Anita, her old boss, who can't leave well enough alone and ends up getting the truth handed to her on a silver platter by Blissful!

I love the hijinks of the ladies in this series, it reminds me that life is short and you need to enjoy every moment of it, no matter what age you are. Author Amy Boyles is a wizard at creating characters that you can relate to in so many ways, and that you see bits of yourself or someone you know in and that makes them so much more real and relatable. You want to read about them, you root for them and you want to see them succeed.

The rehabilitation of the banshee

Another terrific read with a plot full of murder, lies, plots and betrayals. A nicely paced read that flows well although one part of it was fairly obvious - the identity of the killer. Love the innocence of the seniors and the way the ghosts are portrayed. As having more fun than most people alive do.
She being taken of the annual Banshee sighting outing. However animosity between the seniors have them making a bet that the first to find the banshee can diss the other with a newspaper article. A scream alerts then to the fact that someone has won. A body, a newspaper article and Ruthie being quoted as the number one suspect. Can they do anything to get her out? Then there is the problem of her mother and later her father. Both insist the she and Roan have to be apart as their gifts will cause dangerous spirits in. With the aid of the banshee (or rather the ghost impersonating her) the three indulge in some B & E, stealing identity cards, firing a BB gun, a showdown with Anita and some soft pedaling to not only catch the killer but get a rival company closed down?

Blissful and Roan face a difficult decision

Blissful and Rowan have took their relationship slowly, Roan knows it's true love and wants to be sure he has all Blissful s love and trust (and it's hard for her to trust after the childhood she had). Given up.to an orphanage at birth Blissful wasn't adopted till she was ten and her father only adopted her because he recognized her talent ( being a clairvoyant too) he did grow to care for her though so the rest of her childhood was happy but she has been left wit severe abandonment issues. Issues which she can now resolve as her birth parents have tracked her down and are wanting to establish a relationship with her. Blissful is willing to give them a chance and is actually grateful to have them in her life as she and Rowan could use some help and guidance in coping with their emerging gifts. But they receive some devastating news which means that they can no longer be a couple, and it that's not bad enough there's been a murder and the evidence is pointing towards Ruth. Blissful may be helpless to keep Roan in her life but she's not going to loose Ruth too.

There's a murder mystery buried somewhere in "Backwoods Banshee" but, to be perfectly honest, you could remove it without making much difference.
Blissfuls' mother turns up, followed by her father, and Anita Turner comes to town (guess someone's gonna have to tell her that Lucky Strike is no longer available for private parties!).
Typical of the series there is a lot going on, most of it humorous.
The graveyard ghosts are still demanding their rights, and a second group are planning to go medieval on the town's inhabitants - there's rarely a dull moment for Blissful.
Not to mention her ongoing romance with demonologist Roan - finally we get the L word,
And, of course, the Backwoods Banshee is not what she seems.
3 Stars.

Finding Bliss in Haunted Hollow

It's beginning to look like naming her Blissful was pure irony in her parents' thinking. Kinda hard to find bliss when you're surrounded by betrayal and death. Oh, and as soon as you're willing to be vulnerable to love that's snatched out of reach also. The twists and comical romps are enjoyable, the pacing is perfect, and the murder mystery reveals a few surprises. The endearing, quirky cast of characters Blissful attracts are drawn to the charm and good heart she rather unsuccessfully hides under a tough shell. At least that's what partly draws this reader time and again to this series!

Another fun and quick ghostly mystery. We get to meet both of Blissful's parents, and learn more about the abilities of both Blissful and Roan...or do we? It was funny how the banshee inherited the role from the previous banshee who was sent into the light. I absolutely loved how Ruth and Alice dressed up in white sheets to blend in with the ghosts. Those ladies are so silly and make for great reading. There were some great reveals and buildups near the end of this book and I look forward to finishing the series with the next one.

Such a fun read

I really love all of Amy’s series, they are always fun, humorous and definitely entertaining. Blissful is unique and different and that’s what makes her so interesting. I love the town, the older citizens and they hilarious antics, the ghosts that Blissful interact with and then her budding romance with Roan. It all comes together for an excellent series.

Great

This series is a lot of fun to read. Alice and Ruth are so entertaining (plus I would love some millionaires shortbread) to read about. Great characters. Blissful learns some truths and settles the issue about Lucky Strike. New ghosts introduced. Francine was interesting. Good mystery with some layers. Looking forward to the next book.

Getting back to the cemetery

I love Amy's series! She is a must read!
This book had so much going on. I believe Blissful knows she doesn't want to go back to The Agency.
All of the main characters are loveable. I love how the older generation is ornery and full of spunk.
I look forward to the next book in the series.

Great book series

I was reading the Sweet Tea Witch series, but hopped over to these books to read about Pepper and Axel's adventure. Though, I only wanted to see them meeting new characters...I got invested in these new characters as well. I love Blissful, Roan, Ruth, and Alice. It's fun to read about their antics.

Backwoods Banshee

I liked parts of the book. I liked meeting Francine aka the Banshee. She was a kick. I also liked meeting Blissful's until they weren't.
I liked that Blissful acknowledged that she had feelings for Roan.
Glad to see that Blissful told Anita the truth about Lucky Strike and also told her where to stick it.

The tricky parents

In this book by Amy Boyles, Blissful meets her biological parents who tell her that bad things will happen to those she is trying to protect. In the meantime Anita comes to town and Ruth is being accused of murder. Will Blissful figure everything out or will she have to give up Roan to protect the world.

Roaring fun

Any Boyles spells up another episode of haunted frivolity. This series has characters that leap off the page and begin to weave their magic to lure the reader into joining the group. Murder, mystery, spirits, bonfires and banshees. Happy reading

getting more interesting by the book.

These people are developing and interacting wonderfully. The next book will intersect with another series and I can’t wait for sparks to fly. I hope to see some other ‘walk on’ characters like the were and witch. Good reading!

Ghosts, spirits, and lies

Blissful has her hands full with friends, ghosts, and evil pretenders. Of course there is a murder with one of Bliśsful's friends being framed for the murder. People are not always what they seem to be.
