Starfade can be read as a standalone novella, but the events take place between the middle and end of Descendant of the Elders: Realm Blender Part 1. To get full satisfaction, it’s recommended to read both books.
Gary A. Swaby was born and raised in Luton, England. He was born with the blood disorder sickle cell anemia. This made growing up very difficult for Gary. He grew to be a quiet and introverted individual due to how challenging it was to make friends who understood his condition. Gary picked up a number of different interests to keep him occupied through his lonely and painful upbringing. He always enjoyed reading and writing, and often dreamed of being an author in school. Teachers would tell him it wasn’t possible for him to be an author, but he hoped one day he could prove them wrong.
For over 10 years now, Gary has been developing as a writer. He's done video games media, book blogging and content marketing.
Now, in 2019, Gary is the author of the Realm Blender series. The first book in the series, Descendant of the Elders, features a protagonist that suffers from sickle cell anemia. With this book, Gary wanted to show how an invisible disease like sickle cell affects someone on a daily basis, while also creating a scifi fantasy series that's engaging to all readers of the genre; whether they're aware of what sickle cell is or not.
