CAUTION: EXTREME SUPERNATURAL HORROR CONTAINED WITHIN This is an extreme supernatural horror book. It contains scenes of violence and religious themes that are not for the faint of heart or easily disturbed or offended.

EMILY didn’t deserve what happened to her that night.

In fact, NO ONE could ever possibly deserve what happened to Emily that night.

Dragged into an alleyway and brutally attacked by two meth heads, all she hoped was they would leave her face unharmed so she could go back to working the streets the following night.

What happened next was so much worse

This was a gut-wrenching story for so many reasons. Rape, torture, revenge, violent Satanists, molestation, and pretty much any crime against women that makes a normal person sick to their stomach was in here. However, for a short book, it was potent in its approach. You wanted to see Emily rebuild herself, however necessary, and finally take control of the downright ugly situation she was plunged into. And she does, just not in the way you think. The story was so upsetting at times, even when there was resolution to some of the more unpleasant plot points, you still felt unsatisfied. But the purpose of the story was to show how hard things could be, and how one can reclaim themselves, even in the most uncertain times and rotten circumstances. Life isn't easy...for anyone. Especially not Emily and Bella. The ending was something I knew would be the final outcome, but I still liked it. Needless to say, this is a powerful, violent, and somehow enjoyable experience, even with all the ugliness contained within.

Brutal but so Good!!

I really liked this book, and tbh I don’t know how that makes me feel or sounds to anyone else, because THIS IS BRUTAL! Emily is a street worker and gets attacked one night by 2 men, who do the most horrific, brutal, depraved, violent acts, which can ever be done to a woman. She somehow survives (I do know how, but not about to give it away!), and further on into the book, I’m happy to say, she gets her revenge in the most ‘delightful’ way possible! Warren Barns has written one of the most raw, descriptive, extreme horror books, that I’ve ever read, but has done so, in a way that keeps you excitedly turning the pages from beginning to end, with not only the violence, but a pretty decent storyline too. I recommend this book to those readers who are used to the more extreme side of horror, as this is definitely not for everyone. All in all, I thought this was a bloody, great book, with an awesome ending!

I discovered the Barns Brothers by chance. They quickly featured prominently on my favourite extreme horror author list. I've read all their books and Kink, Ham and the Vacationers are favourites that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

All the Barns Brothers books are gruesome but Whore takes the extreme horror levels to a new height. It is bloody and disgusting, just the way I like them. Warning, stay away if you are a sensitive reader.

This is their first foray into supernatural horror. Crystal (her "working name") is a low class prostitute who peddle her wares outside bars and cheap joints. She is brutally attacked one evening after "work". She is abducted by her attackers and used as a slaughter subject in a satanic ritual but things go wrong and the ritual is abandoned. Left for dead with most of her entrails next to her, she must pick up the pieces (she what I did there ;-) ) of her life. Abused by her father in her youth, she carries both physical and psychological scars that drives her to seek revenge. Fuelled by a new-found "strength", those her abused her will soon be begging for their lives.

Sounds awesome doesn't it? So why only 4 stars you may ask. Well the book is a bit brief. Some character development is left wanting and some of the twists come just to rapidly for my liking.

A vile and disgusting extreme horror novel that will upset even the most insensitive Splatterpunk connoisseurs. Recommended .....

Kind of basic starting line but honestly if I could give this zero stars I would. The self aggrandizing back cover should have tipped me off.

I have no reservations against intense horror but this book borders on amateur shock fodder. I have no idea how people feel like the portrayal of the protagonist's trauma is insightful or even sad in any way. Each event was purely a line of horrible details delivered with no tact and no actual depth. Emily is basically a punching bag who gets no meaningful inner monologue that trips and cries until her eventual drawn out revenge. This is the worst attempt made by a male writer to make some sort of rape revenge narrative that I've read so far and it's frankly insulting. No wonder it's mostly other men on here that think they've read something remotely powerful.

The description of Emily's childhood sexual abuse was so over the top and pathetically try-hard that I wonder if the writer was actually getting off on what they were typing out. The pantie gag detail (used twice by the way) was frankly unnecessary. At best it's a show of a lack of creativity and at worse a secret fetish being used in a traumatic and disgusting context. Intense horror is one thing but just because it's gorey or out of pocket, that doesn't mean that you can just slam shitty stuff together with no actual semblance of character or meaning. A 14 year-old on an edgy forum in the early 2010's could've written this and at least it would have been free on all grounds.

All round insensitive first draft fair disguised as something with any real fear factor. The ending was especially terrible, despite what some other reviews might say.

This was most definitely an extreme horror novel tale.
Straight up this is not for the faint hearted to read it has lots of gore and violence in it.
Warnings over on to the other things.
Well written plot and story line that did have me hooked straight away as I love horror reads.
The characters have been fleshed out well and this just goes to show karma will get you in the end.
Loved the twisted ending and will be reading more from the author!!!!

BLOODY Brilliant

First the confession - I've not only read all the previous Barns Brothers books, but I really enjoyed them as well and in my opinion, for what that's worth, this one is easily the best yet. It's not for the faint-hearted, but I guess you already know that. Real horror is what people do to one another. It can be disturbing to be reminded of that fact, but I think we all need to be told from time to time and that's why I cannot recommend this book enough.

Brutally satisfied!

That was awesome! Once I started it I couldn't stop and tore through it in one sitting.
Poor Emily went through hell as a child, courtesy of her disgusting, abusive father, and as a result, becomes the "whore". When she is targeted by a couple of guys for... well, let's just say things get rather wild for Emily and all hell breaks loose!
This was my first book by the Barns Brothers and I'll most certainly be back for more.

It was definitely extreme horror with a lot of guts and gore. The ending was extremely twisted and horrific. It was interesting viewing life from a hookers pony of view. Emily’s backstory was even more horrific. This is definitely a compelling story.

I'm not really too sure what happened at the end of this book as it's it's bit strange but I really enjoyed it, but I do love the strange so..... I also enjoyed the satanic/religious theme and the brutality was on point! Super dark and violent.

First and foremost, this book is NOT for everyone. It’s raw and brutal and at times had me on the verge of feeling the pain described. But, that’s what I’ve been looking for. Something that makes me say WTF, but makes me want to keep reading.

If that’s something you are looking for then this book is for you. It will take you on a crazy, fucked up ride.
