Spring blooms amidst Saisei High School's first murder mystery. For Lily, the season of new beginnings is marked by an invitation to watch the theatre club's latest performance. But when a lighting malfunction threatens to spoil the show, she quickly discovers that true accidents so rarely seem to happen around her.
In these times of worry over covid 19, riots in the street, very questionable politics and an uncertain economic future it's a pleasure to read a book like this that takes you out of the worries of the world and puts you into a funny, enjoyable world of very, very quirky characters.
One of the problems of having a journalism club is that you need to come up with something to write about. A couple of the characters go to a school play (sort of) by a dramatic club (sort of) that ends up with lighting problems (definitely.) There's a backstory for one of the characters and it turns out Sonada, the formerly-missing journalism club president, lives in a hotel.
Then there's also a plan for the group to take a trip to Hokkaedo during a school vacation. As with the first two books there are a lot of really funny lines and all the characters remain very individual and very cute in their own way.
It's a good series to take your mind off, at least for a while, other things going on.
Each book in this series draws me further into the characters. Initially, I started the Lily series as a break from our favorite villainess and clockwork doll. But now I’m very much invested in Lily’s world as well.
I’m just here to say the series just keeps getting better. I will finish it.
And for the author, “Dancing In The Rain” was a brilliant chapter. Sonoda. The rain. The scarf. So good! This along with a surprise from Sonoda toward the book’s end. No spoilers. Thank you!
To me it felt like the first 2 books were a bit stiff. Maybe because the author was introducing a bunch of characters. This book felt like their sense of humor shines through much better.
