I Danced with My Mother

Rate this book
In this autobiographical tale, I Danced with My Mother, you’ll witness joy and pain through the eyes of a young boy. The music would take them away. As he danced and cleaned with his mother and siblings, they were swept away to an ideal world. It was a world of laughter and smiles, a world of family and of love. But when the music ended . . . an evil lurking in the shadows threatened to break his spirit and destroy their world.

Such Pain

This was a very painful story to read. I went through the entire gamut of emotions as I read it. I think every single mother should read it because it touches on a very real fear we keep in the back of our minds when we bring a new man into our children’s lives. Young Robbie showed a courage and a fierce desire to protect his Mom and his siblings that just grabs your heart and won’t let go. There is a lot of Grace in every mother and her struggles are described in a way we can all relate to. I’m speechless but glad I read it even though it took me two days because I had to put it down to catch my breath, it was that deep. There are some edits that were missed but they don’t negate the impact this book will make on the reader.

This is an authentic look at the abuse a young boy takes from his mother's boyfiend, the way he protects his siblings and his love for his mother. The grammar and paragraph structure isn't according to Hoyle, but it seems to work here. The story is well structured. I cared about protagonist and his family. It was raw and real and took me to a world I have never experienced.
