A man in search of a woman – but not the one he’s accidentally abducted…
After family fortunes descend, Miss Alice Reynolds has no choice but to leave her life as a lady behind and take up work as a lady’s maid. She had expected nothing but boredom when her mistress’s family decided to visit Wales, so when a stranger abducts her, she really shouldn’t feel this intrigued – or this alive.
Lord Emrick de Wolfe was determined to make his beloved pay for her treachery, but after unhooding his captive in his Welsh hunting lodge, he hardly expected a chit of a girl instead.
Desperate to prove himself to his father and furious with himself for taking the wrong woman, sparks fly as two strong personalities meet – and collide.
But with the notorious storms of the Welsh valleys descending, the mismatched pair are alone, trapped, and forced to discover more about each other than they could have ever expected.
With a whirlwind outside and inside their hearts, will the growing attraction between a woman abducted and a de Wolfe ever lead to something?
Or does Miss Alice Reynolds have even more secrets to reveal than Lord Emrick de Wolfe could ever dream of? Who is the true captive of the de Wolfes?

Miss Alice Reynolds was born and raised a Lady, but now finds herself working as a housemaid. It's not something that sits easily for her. Surely trying on her mistress' silk ballgown can't hurt. She just wants to remember what she used to be. Lord Emrick de Wolfe has been shamed infront of the ton and his family by a woman who he believed he loved. If he can get her alone for a few days he should be able to persuade her that she loves him as well. Our hero finds it hard to live up to his family's high ideals. Our heroine hates her reduced circumstances. What could possibly go wrong in these characters lives?? An amusing, if obvious tale of two wrongs maybe making a right. Good fun.
I have never before read any of the books about the De Wolfe family. But that was no problem. I could still very much enjoy this one. It is a short romance. With, despite the storm, a bit of steam inside. I liked the characters. And I wouldn't mind getting to know this family better.
What exciting could happen to a woman working as a ladies maid, due to reduced circumstances? Well when Miss Alice travels to Wales with her mistress's family, she gets kidnapped!! What? Oh yes and by a very handsome man, Emrick deWolfe, who mistakes her for her employer, a lady who had toyed with him. He does not realize until he gets her to his hunting lodge that she is the wrong girl. Sound intriguing? Well it definitely is and as the two are trapped together due to the horrible weather, sparks begin to fly! Loved this delightful story with Emrick, of the powerful deWolfe family and Alice, a stong beautiful girl who was a definite match for him! Be prepared for the steam to come off the pages as these two try to find a happy ever after!
I found this a really good book. Emrick De Wolfe kidnaps Alice by mistake thinking her Louisa who thoroughly abused him in public by refusing his marriage proposal. He hopes to win her hand but instead finds Alice and immediately finds her so different from Louisa that he falls in love with her. Alice is a great character and very suitable for Emrick.
I was enjoying this book, I liked the characters of Emrick and Alice but the story was just too short. I would have liked to have known more about their backgrounds, there was a little about them but if it had been longer, more could have been written. I’ve always enjoyed Emily’s books and this one had the potential for a higher rating.
ONE CAPTIVATING JEWEL!!! Wow! Talk about blindsided. One intriguing tale that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. All the drama, uncertainty and suspense make for one enjoyable experience. A whirlwind of actions and events that bring all of your emotions bursting in a full color spectrum. Drawing you in so deep until nothing else exists. The characters are strong and well developed with on point personalities that bend and flow. The scenes are vivid and breathtaking in the realistic true to life form. Twists and turns abound with a few bumps and bruises that brings this bad boy alive beautifully before your eyes. Fantastic job Emily, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
During a bad storm the wrong woman gets kidnapped, the man who kidnaps her comes to a realization that his wounded pride, not love of the woman who spurned him is the driving force behind his rash decision. And the woman he kidnapped may be his salvation.
