Afterlife, just a place for an unhappy King to call home or soon to become a beacon of hope when a new waitress falls at his feet? The Gothic nightclub is about to welcome a new guest and this time it is one he can’t control. As for Dominic Draven, the King of all Supernatural life, handling just one little Mortal named Keira, should be no problem for him…right? Wrong! As she is his Chosen One and not meant to be ruled by a domineering, overbearing, arrogant boss who is determined to keep her at arm’s length. But instead, she is meant to achieve the impossible and crack the hard shell of an immortal King that is only now learning what it truly means to fall in love. This is the story of Afterlife, only from the eyes of its King. As you will finally follow Keira’s journey all over again, only through Dominic Draven’s point of view, giving it a whole new and exciting twist on the start of this epic saga. This is book one, in the new King of Kings saga, with book two to follow shortly after.
Stephanie Hudson is a #1 Amazon bestselling Author. She had dreamed of being a writer ever since her obsession with reading books at an early age. What first became a quest to overcome the boundaries set against her in the form of dyslexia, has turned into a life's dream.
Afterlife is the first book in the series of 12 books, with the story of Keira and Draven becoming ever more complicated in a world that sets them miles apart. The Transfusion Saga will also be a 12 book series once book 12 is released in May 2021. Other spin -off books and series are also available with lots more planned.
When not writing, Stephanie enjoys chatting with her fans and spending time with her friends. Being with her loving family as much as she can including her wonderful daughter Ava, sons Jack and Halen and supportive husband and personal muse Blake, who is there for her no matter what.
Discoverd Stephanie Hudson through her “Lost Siren” installment just a couple of days ago. That one revolved around the lives of enforcers to Draven, the king of kings, someone who's said to possess the powers of both, angel and a demon, making him one of the most fearful leaders to exist in this book's universe.
Two chapters into this and I already gathered that it ran parallel to the Lost Sirens.
Weird 'cos this book had been published long before. So it feels like readers have to multi-task since they're being forced read it simultaneously with relatively newer releases in order to better acquaint with the entire universe spun by the author.
Before reading this book, I did go through some of the reviews left by fellow readers of this novel and I must say that I share similar sentiments regarding the author trying to juggle tons of spin off series at the same time. Quite frustrating.
Not to mention that fact that it was terribly disappointing that I didn't even get to enjoy reading this. It was word-y. Too word-y with unnecessary descriptions or contemplations. And this is without even including all the inner monologues of the characters.
The interraction between MCs at the beginning was plain boring. Constant push-and-pull between him and Kiera can be seen as a common theme all throughout the read which got old too fast too soon. It felt impersonal & unromantic. :/
I couldnt wait to read this book as soon as I heard Stephanie was writing Dravens point of view. Even better I bought King of Kings book and the special edition. I loved the special edition more as you could read Keiras POV and what was happening and Dravens at the same time. Although I have read the Afterlife series 3 times now alot more small things made sense when reading from Dravens point of view. I highly recommend this book and cant wait for part 2 now. Now Im reading the series again for the 4th time while I wait for part 2 to come out. I really hope Stephanie writes more books in Dravens POV and maybe even Lucuis.
I read this while I was already into the seventh book of the Afterlife Saga, and I really enjoyed the story from Draven's POV. His thoughts and emotions, as well as the extra insight into things that Keira isn’t aware of at the time, are a great addition to the story. Draven's story is also an easier read than Keira's side of the story (especially in the first two books), which is filled with her insecurities, doubts, clumsiness, and naivety.
Story: 3 ⭐️ Spice: 2 🌶
Thank you for reading
i came 2/3 throu, but it was to much angst "i cant have her falling for me yet" "why dosnt she notice me" "she should only be looking at me" "she is not ready yet to get to know me"
I am a huge fan of Stephanie’s books ever since she brought out the first Book of the Afterlife saga years ago. When she announced that there was going to be a few books from Draven’s POV, I was super excited. The book was as great as all the others – very emotional and giving nice insights into his thoughts. However, I can’t give more than 4 stars for two reasons. One, as much as I love many books in one series, I was a little disappointed that Stephanie cut the first book from Draven’s perspective in two. Considering book1 from Keira’s POV is only one book, this was not necessary in my opinion. Stephanie’s books are known for ending on a huge cliffhanger, and I wasn’t too happy about where it ended. And two (and I usually don’t comment on this because I’m not a native), there were a lot of mistakes and grammar issues on every second page. Also, the commas were sometimes misplaced so that I had to read the sentence a few times to understand its meaning. I know that Stephanie uses a unique voice and likes to be very descriptive, using very long sentences and describing every little detail, but I felt this book was published before it was thoroughly edited. Anyway, I hope Book 1.2 will be published soon :)
LOVE LOVE LOVE this whole series. Keria is an survivor and a fighter coming into a world she has only had a glimpse of. Dominic Draven is a king and also the other half of Keria's soul who she does not know of yet. They will fight enemies and learn to love each other. Keira finds a new family while learning this new life she has been born into. This series is an epic love story told literally through the ages. If you are on the fence about reading any of Stephanie Hudson's Afterlife Saga Series I will tell you to pick it up and read it, you will fall in love with it like thousands of us Dravenites have. Stephanie keep up the great writing and let the greatness that is your mind keep leaking out for all of us will readers to follow. I have read this series over a dozen times and even my husband is on his 3rd read.
Once again another epic Book written by Stephanie Hudson !!
First and most importantly this book is a similar retelling of the the 1st Afterlife book in the saga, only given to us from Dravens point of view. However unlike other books that have retold the story from the hero's perspective, this gives us a little extra.
There are parts in this book that we didn't get to see in the first AFTERLIFE book, and we also gain knowledge of how certain events transpired by seeing it through dravens eyes.
It almost felt like reading a different book as I was seeing it from a whole new angle and putting things together that I hadn't even after reading the whole Afterlife saga series.
So... safe to say I loved this book and every little new insight into one of my most beloved and favourite book saga and characters.
An absolute must read (only after u have read the rest of the afterlife saga though)
(ONLY NEGATIVE I FOUND WAS I DID NOT LIKE THE NARRATOR FOR THE AUDIOBOOK)
Afterlife Saga and spin offs are one of my favourite books to read and re read.. so of course Draven's POV has been very much anticipated!! And Stephanie definately did not dissapoint, giving us a slice of the scrumptious King himself.
While this is the same story line of course as the 1st Afterlife book, it does add insight into some of the King's council members and loyal subjects as well as Dominc's feelings on the matter of his little clumsy Chosen One. Loved it and it will be joining the other books from the saga to be re read over and over again. Only thing to mention and this might happen in part 2 is that i wished there was more detail about his meetings with his council discussing his kingdom and what else their kind are doing, as well as his interactions with his siblings, as i always find these hilarious and extremely entertaining.
I read a spin-off series, with several books, about the King of Beasts Jared finding his human female. I wanted to know more history of these characters, so I found this book. This book is truly a narrative from Dominic Draven as he reflects on his past and how came to be king. Also he describes finding his true mate Keira after so many years and how he meets her with the help of his siblings Vincent and Sofia. Just take note the Keira was abused before the she came to know the Dravens. The abuse is mostly alluded to and off page, but if you are sensitive to those topics, you know now. The story is from Dominic’s POV and lots of telling the readers what happened in the past. This book ends in a cliffhanger and there is a book two. Read On!
I was looking forwards to reading this book from Draven's POV and i wasn't disappointed at all as this brought it all back how this afterlife journey started for me and to here his side was heartbreaking in how he was getting it all wrong, EVERY, DAMN, TIME. Loved hearing his side and his thoughts with how his feelings for Kiera started.Draven's siblings and how he was with Sophie and Vincent was awesome but Vincent was the only one to calm him down when he had a melt down which was often after all Sophie's interference with Kiera. This does end on a cliffhanger but if you have read the first books you will know how this pans out but i still want to read this next book from Draven's pov, as come on this man or should i say King is one Sexy Hot alpha male.
This was great to read, for the 12 book series Afterlife, was always one sided at most, from the heroine. It was great to hear his torturous soul as his soulmate was Mortal, and for how old he is not ever really had the end to understand the people he protected.
I just wished a Note of these 2 books in along with all the other books related to the AFTERLIFE series, for i was just looking at the next set to read and came across these books...
It is a series that can't be put down, if you are unsure cause there are 12 books, they are broken down in 4books per set, it is a must read.. so happy I came across this series. 😊🥰
This one was so much better coming from Draven's point of view then it was from Keira's. I enjoyed it so much more. I don't know what Dominic was thinking. I guess not know her past has a lot to do with it. He's still in the dark about some of her past when the book ends. After reading Afterlife book 1 I'm trying to figure out why the book didn't continue to the where Afterlife finished. So now i'm on the hunt to figure out what book comes next. Is there a different series between these two. The afterlife series and the King of Kings series?
But all in all I enjoyed reading Dominic's side of the story.
This author has way too many spin off a series going simultaneously
I I like the original series very much. This book is getting 1 star because it is unnecessary. I do not understand why the author isn't concentrating on all her other spinoff series. Definitely has way too many spin-off s going simultaneously and I feel is an injustice to her fans. Finish one series and go on to the next please. A little less inner dialogue for all her characters too please because then I am forced to skim through because there is way-way-way too much detail. Thank you.
I don’t know if it was just the kindle book that was horrible or if all prints were but MANNNN did this boon need more editing. It was hard to get through when you have to reread a sentence a few times to figure out was supposed to be said… but I I’m so hooked to the story that I couldn’t stop reading. Getting Dom’s POV really just wrapped up the full story of books one and two in the afterlife saga!
I have enjoyed other books by this author and read more in this series but this one got a bit wordy. You would read 2 chapters as one character the go back n rehash it as the other main character with the same spoken verbage just from the other characters point of view. It made the book longer then needed.
Story line is great. Carries on a bit. Trying to be mysterious and just seems to be the same scenarios over and over. Same thoughts different words. The back and forth of the siblings are repetitive. Grammar is a huge issue for me. Context of words also. Example. . Rouse should be ruse.....
This book gives you insight to how it was for draven from the beginning.it's great to finally see things from his pov. I can't get enmity of these books! I dress the time when i will be finished with them
After reading Afterlife second book I had to go and check Dominic point of view which adds some explanation of some schemes that was odd. And this way I learned some interesting information not available....
I bought the special edition of this book so the chapters from dravens POV were interspersed with chapters from Keira’s POV in book 1. I’m glad I did as it made it easier to keep up with the storyline and remember what was going on in the first book. I enjoyed getting dravens thoughts as it cleared up some of the confusion and gave me a better understanding of why he did certain things
Reading things from Domino’s POV was a lot of fun, eye opening in other cases and most definitely worth the read. I thought I was too emotionally spent from the 12 book saga, but nope, can’t get enough.
After reading the Afterlife series I love seeing it from Draven's point of view. He is learning what love is and how to handle a relationship. I love how you can see both points of view on a event.
I've read every thing that Stephanie Hudson has written and all of her books are fabulous. I enjoyed the story lines and the characters in all of the books. I've started over rereading the series.
Wow Stephanie has done it again, I really enjoyed reading Draven’s POV. You just want to keep reading about there lives. Can’t fault the book. It reads well, explains a few things….it’s oh wow…that’s why that happened. 💯 recommend!!
If you love stories with supernatural beings, amazing characters, angst, cliffhangers and just captivating storytelling give this series a read! Many spin offs to keep you busy!
Yet another fantastic read from Stephanie Hudson, loved draven pov ,( girly squeal) . One look in to descend mind and I was done for I could not put this book down
Another great edition to the series afterlife by Stephanie Hudson.i love the characters and storyline. I love Dravens view point. I can’t wait for the next one
