I love Lisa's writing! She draws me in to where I was sitting right on the remote island with everyone else; I was walking through the inky-pitch blackness of a cave (basically scared out of my mind because I hate the dark), but seriously she pulls you there (wherever there may be) and you are surrounded by every nuance and I LOVE it! This is what draws me back, time and again, not to mention the amazing characters, but her writing is the best!
Hannah Montgomery, is Ryder's sister's best friend, whom work on humanitarian projects that take them around the world. This is nothing new, but the call that Ryder receives from his sister, Allison, stating she is in a life and death situation and he better come quick leaves little room for negotiation in his mind. Ryder and Ninja board a plane and travel to a remote island to help because she's his sister and that is what family does. What he is not prepared for is the the sight of Hannah given it's been twelve years since he's been around her and basically he tries very hard to keep his distance. When he left for the army he left behind her broken heart and hasn't been back, but being stuck on a remote island isn't going to make staying away very easy, especially if there is danger involved.
Hannah has had a thing for Ryder pretty much since she met him back in elementary school. Even when he broke her heart they day he left for the army she has never stopped wanting him. So when he shows up on the remote island to answer Allison's call, Hannah decides to take a chance and spend the little time with the only man who has ever called to her. She knows it's only for a brief time, but she's willing to take that chance. It's better than having nothing at all, she already knows what the last twelve years have been like so she decides to jump in with both feet. It's now or never and now seems pretty good. She's never been one to hesitate, so why start now.
With danger and suspicion all around them, it's hard to get to know each other and whom they've become as an adult, but even with the brief time they do get both Ryder and Hannah respect and enjoy each other's company immensely. However, when things go sideways, Ryder turns to what he knows best and Hannah is right by his side, helping Ryder every step of they way. They are a fierce duo when they work as a team, but can they make it out alive to see if they could have a future?
The main focus is on Boomer and Hannah, but with this being a remote island, there is a small hint to Ninja and Allison in this book, but both swear nothing happens. However there is a lot of chemistry between the two, so I'm hoping at some point there will be a story about them. I'm crossing my fingers and toes.

Suspense, mayhem, romance and a story that pulls you in from the get-go!
This is the third story in the Cover Six Security series from Lisa B. Kamps but can be read as a stand-alone.
Hannah Montgomery and Allison Hess are on a far away island working with volunteers to rebuild a school for the children living there. When they spot something suspicious, Allison immediately calls her brother, Ryder, asking him to come as “it’s a matter of life and death”. Ryder can’t say no to that and rushes to his sister’s rescue, bringing Ninja (Colter Graham) a fellow Cover Six friend, to help out. So begin the adventure for all!
When they arrive however, it seems the emergency is not what Ryder expected. Nor did he expect to see Hannah, whose heart he broke years ago.
Hannah and Ryder have a history together, one that ended badly.
What did Alison and Hannah see? How much danger are they facing and from whom? Can Hannah reconcile the hurt Ryder caused in the past with who he and she are now?

Can you ever be prepared for what can happen on a small remote island?
The Defender: RYDER is Book 3 of the Cover Six Security series by Lisa B. Kamps. This world is made up of ex military, strong, handsome, rugged, protective Alpha's with a huge capital "A". Each man of the Cover Six Security company just keeps getting hotter and hotter as this series progresses.
This story centers on Ryder and Hannah who have "history" together. As it turns out Hannah is the one that Ryder compares all other women to, even if he does not fully realize it, which makes any current relationship DOA before it even really begins. Add in Ryder's sister Allison who is a besties with Hannah and you have an interesting situation. One day Ryder gets a call from Allison saying she needs his help. Like any loving big bro he rushes to her location on a remote island. There he finds not only Allison but also Hannah and they have a slight situation happening which Ryder at first thinks they over exaggerated but soon learns that his thinking was a mistake. It seems Allison and Hannah may have seen something that they should not have and not things are happening which bring out the Protective Alpha in Ryder, towards both Allison and Hannah. During all of this Ryder realizes that he should not have broken up with Hannah, even though he thought it was best for her, and that he wants her back. Hannah's long buried feelings for Ryder also come bubbling back up to the surface like champagne bubbles. The question becomes whether Ryder will be able to protect the two most important women in his life so that he can have a future with both, but in totally different ways.
The Defender: Ryder is a story that has a lot of different emotions woven into it. The characters, both main and secondary, are written with some depth and backstory so you can understand what they are feeling as their interactions progress. As with the previous books in this series some parts of the story did drag while others seemed like they were running a 100 yard dash by Usain Bolt. But over all I did enjoy Ryder and Allison's story.

Hannah Montgomery is Ryder's sister's best friend, who is a humanitarian with her, and they work on projects around the world, which is the norm, no biggie. However, when he gets a call from his sister, Allison, saying that it's an emergency because she's danger, like life & death, Ryder boards a plane with his fellow Cover Six friend, Ninja, to rescue her. What he doesn't count on, is seeing Hannah since he broke her heart years ago, so he's determined to keep his distance. But can he do so on a remote island with them in danger? And how much danger are they actually in? Yeah this story had me on the edge of my seat with heart racing, and not in the way that you may think. Sure, there's that whole suspenseful undertone thing going on, and yeah, twists had the f-bombs going, but there's more than just that. It's the whole Ryder breaking Hannah's heart thing that had me up in arms. See, I can hold a grudge, and I'd like to think that I'm not a petty person, but it turns out I am, because I'm that reader screaming, "THROAT PUNCH HIM HANNAH!" Luckily for him, Hannah is a bigger person than I am. That's not to say that Ryder is a bad man, he's not, just made questionable douchey decisions back in the day, and some in the present, so he deserved the colorful name calling I did. Luckily, Allison & Ninja added in some serious fun to this drama, and really need their own story (hint hint)! If you want to know how it all panned out, you know what to do, one click this baby that will keep you guessing until the end because I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ryder “Boomer” Hess receives a phone call from his little sister while she is on an island stating that there is a matter of life or death. He drops everything and makes his teammate and co-worker from Cover Six Security, “Ninja”, go with him. The main reason he went was because the call cut out right after she said that.
Allison Hess and her childhood best-friend are part of a group that helps rebuild areas that have been destroyed by destructive weather in poor countries. That’s why they are on a remote island that is only accessible by boat. When Allison and Hannah stumble upon some questionable activity on the island near where they are rebuilding a school for the children of the island, Allison decides to call her brother for help to figure out what is going on. None of them expected what they found though and Boomer and Ninja are in as much danger now as Allison and Hannah.
This is a story of second chances, con men, and dangerous dealings in secret that can cause a lot of trouble. I really liked this story. The twists and suspense pulled me right in and kept my interest throughout the book. The characters were great together and Boomer and Ninja are men who take no prisoners and will dig around until they get to the bottom of what is going on.
I give this story a 4.5-star review and look forward to the next book in the Cover Six Security. I really hope its Ninja’s story. A quiet, deadly man who fights his attraction. If you like stories of ex-military men who go in to security and are fierce protectors, I highly suggest this story as well as this series.

I have never read Lisa Kamps before and after reading this book I am seriously scratching my head and wondering why that has never happened before! This was a super awesome read. It had a fresh take from the normal military reads as it was not a specific opp that was scheduled by the team but more of a in the wrong place at the wrong time kind of thing.
Ryder's sister and her best friend are semi-volunteers semi-staff for a non profit company that is building a school for a secluded island that does not have a specific place to learn. They came across something that looked a little bit weird and it freaked them out so Allison, Ryder's sister, calls her brother to come and check out what is going on.
Let's just say that Ryder is not super thrilled to be showing up under false pretenses especially with Ninja, his teammate. Once they get there though they have to admit that something wonky is going on as well as home much he still cares about his old flame who happens to be his sister's best friend Hannah.
The heat between these two could create a freaking inferno and the scenes were freaking HOT! Also Lisa definitely kept me guessing on what was going on. She was like Hansel and Gretel dropping crumbs along the way to find to the huge bomb that she had hiding. I freaking loved it all!
This was a solid 5 star read from me!

Ryder "Boomer" Hess was trying to stay calm after the phone call from his sister Allison .She was calling him for help and that it was a life and death situation and than the phone went dead.When he arrived to the island with his buddy Ninja he can't believe what he is hearing ,Allison called him about possible Treasure Hunters, what was so life and death about that.Now he was going to be stuck on an island until the next ferry returned with nothing to do,and the one women he walked away from eleven years ago is standing there with his sister.
Hanna had come to the island with Allison to do volunteer at the small village,and the last thing she wanted was Ryder here.He was the one man that had broke her seventeen year old heart. Now eleven years later they are stand a few feet apart discussing the situation,and stuck together with no where to hide.
When Ryder gets the full story from Allison about what they had found and seen he decides that he and Ninja will scout around and see what they can find. If its nothing they are on the next ferry out of there.What they find changes everything cases of guns, dead bodies and a Con Artist Project Coordinator.They need to convince the girls to leave the island and get them to safety,but when Ryder goes missing they need to find him before all hell breaks lose.

I always get excited for new to me romantic suspense authors and Lisa B. Kamps fit that bill. The blurb for RYDER had a few of my favorite things- danger, a touch of the forbidden and a second-chance at love, so I knew I wanted to give it a shot.
I liked Hannah. She was kind and headstrong. A do-gooder through and through. But when a blast from her past, Ryder, her best friends brother, gets called in to help with a tricky, possibly dangerous situation, it stirs up all kinds of feelings. And not all of them were positive. There was some pain, anger, resentment and also a fair dose of guilt. On both sides.
With danger coming from an unknown villain and very limited resources, it was a race against the clock for Ryder to get to the bottom of the mystery. Throw in the barrage of emotions that being around each other again stirred up and it was recipe for something explosive.
Things really picked up with about twenty percent left to go. It was intense and forced Hannah and Ryder to put aside all their past turmoil and work together to get things done. But I found the way things wrapped up anti-climatic. Yes, justice was served but there were so many unanswered questions that I was left feeling unsettled about how it played out. However, the very end was swoony to the max. Which left me feeling even more confused about my overall impression with the book.

Ryder “Boomer” Hess believes in helping family – no matter how aggravating they can be. Hannah Montgomery believes in helping her friend. We get to see Ryder’s sister Allison and it was interesting to see her interactions with him. He has an expertise in something that Allison needs use of.
Ryder gives me the impression that he feels his sister has over exaggerated the situation. Hannah seems like she could be shy or maybe it has something to do with Ryder. Ryder is a man who says it like it is but sometimes it seemed like he took it a little too far. The action and adventure that the author adds into this story seems to be the match that strikes the fire under our couple. It’s something that grabs the reader’s attention and makes you feel as if you are right in the middle of the action. The author also creates a possible connection between another couple. It’s enough to make you wonder if we will see more of them. The ending was perfect for Ryder and Hannah – especially because of what I learned along the way. What was perfect for me is that another book in this series is coming out this summer.

Ryder “Boomer” Hess believes in helping family – no matter how aggravating they can be. Hannah Montgomery believes in helping her friend. We get to see Ryder’s sister Allison and it was interesting to see her interactions with him. He has an expertise in something that Allison needs use of.
Ryder gives me the impression that he feels his sister has over exaggerated the situation. Hannah seems like she could be shy or maybe it has something to do with Ryder. Ryder is a man who says it like it is but sometimes it seemed like he took it a little too far. The action and adventure that the author adds into this story seems to be the match that strikes the fire under our couple. I received a copy of this book in exchange or an honest review. Even though I encourage everyone to read the entire Cover Six Security series, The Defender: Ryder is probably the easiest to read as a stand alone and in any order. Another great book by Lisa that contains, a little mystery, action, adventure and romance all rolled into one. What more could you ask for?
What’s sibling love without a little bit of sibling annoyance with little sister’s best friend thrown in? Make that a best friend that you have a history with. (Insert romance) Allison isn’t completely honest when she calls in the help of big brother, Ryder, for a life or death situation. (Insert sibling love) When Ryder and his partner, Ninja, arrives at the secluded island where Allison and her BFF, Hannah, are helping to rebuild a school after a hurricane, they discover her situation is a little treasure hunt. (Insert sibling annoyance.) A little adventure by the foursome discovers it’s not quite a treasure and not so little. (Insert the mystery, adventure, and action that makes this a book that is super hard to put down.)

Another hit for Lisa! She does an awesome job in any genre that she chooses! In this book Ryder “Boomer” Hess receives a phone call from his little sister where she leads him to believe that there are life or death issues and she needs help. He drops everything and makes his teammate and co-worker from Cover Six Security, “Ninja”, go with him.

It will make your heart go ….Boom! (4.5 stars)
Lisa B Kamps’ The Protector: Ryder is book 3 in the Cover Six Security series and I think that it is the best one yet in this series. The whole series is fantastic, each novel filled with suspense, intrigue, and drama but in this novel, it gets revved up another notch. The characters are well developed, fun and pull you into the storyline and their relationship with each other. Book 3 centers around Ryder "Boomer" Hess who is a former Army Ranger demolitions expert who over a decade ago, left Hannah Montgomery behind with no reason or explanation. Some things one can never forget and that includes first loves so this was a great second-chance-at-love storyline. Even if it is amidst conspiracy, intrigue, and murder. This is one fast paced and intense read!
For those of you who love both Lisa B Kamps’ hockey series (the Baltimore Banners and the York Bombers – and how could you not love them), this was a different genre read from this author, but it is everything you would expect from this author, a truly enjoyable read. This is a great book about a woman (Hannah) who is volunteering to build a school and protective fence on an island. Ryder is the Cover Six Security agent who, with another CSS agent, begins to protect Hannah and her friend from danger involving a mysterious box in a cave on the island. Hannah and Ryder are very attracted to each other and there are some great sex scenes. There are murders and kidnappings among the other dangers that arise and, as it turns out, more than one mysterious box in the cave. At one point, they finally learn some critical information about the volunteer effort itself. Can they complete the volunteer project? Who is the murderer and who all is in danger? In the midst of all these events, can Hannah and Ryder have an HEA?! I highly recommend this book and feel that all the books in this series (which I have read) are well worth the purchase price, and very much look forward to more books from this author.

Another Cover Six man down! This book is about Ryder. Ryder’s sister, Allison calls him for help! He drops everything and heads her way on a remote island. When he arrives, his sister’s best friend and his ex is there. He broke Hannah’s heart years ago, thinking this is what was best for her. While on this mission, Ryder and Hannah realize the feelings that they had for one another all those years ago had never disappeared. Ryder tried to fight them, but Hannah was relentless. Lol! Ryder had thought his sister was not being serious when he first got to the island. Didn’t feel the reasoning’s she gave were of an emergency situation. But then things started happening, and he was then on high alert! I missed the other Cover Six guys in this book. Ryder had Ninja with him and there was mention of a couple of the others guys, but not actively involved in this book. I love all the banter between them and the family they all are. However, this book was still awesome and I recommend it.

First off I want to start off by saying that this whole series is incredible. This book is about Ryder and Hannah. To me this was a second chance romance book. Ryder and Hannah were together a long time ago but when Ryder left to join the military he left Hannah too and not in a nice way. Now years later Allison his sister needs his help and Hannah is there too. They both try to fight what they feel but the pull is just too strong and they give in. There are so many things standing in the way of them being together. Ryder is suppose to be there helping them up Hannah is making it difficult for him to do his work because he cannot get her off his mind. Will they be able to figure things out? Will he be able to protect them? I absolutely fell in love with Ryder. I am anxiously awaiting Colter's book. I highly recommend this book and this series. The next Cover Six Security soldier to fall foul of the dreaded ‘L’ word is Ryder (Boomer). Although we learned his role in the forces in previous books there is never any explanation of his former military back ground in this, I think I would have liked a bit more history of Ryder rather than so much inner musings of his feelings for Hannah.
Having said that I liked both characters very much and also the support of Ninja and Allison.
This reminded me very loosely of an old fashioned who ‘dunnit ‘with everyone together on a remote island and people start getting murdered and the culprit has to be among them......
I did enjoy this story... not as intense, humorous or suspenseful as Daryl and Macs stories but still kept my interest.
I’m looking forward to the deep blue eyes of Chaos. I really hope we learn how he got his name and if he is as Alpha and intense as previous books have hinted 😉

Lisa has a knack for story telling and creating a landscape that you just want to sink into, and I am not talking about just the scenery. Her characters are alive and you invest yourself in them. Ryder rushes down to a remote island when his sister calls telling him it's a matter of life and death. He gets there with another operative in tow to find his sister, Allison, and her best friend, Hannah, volunteering to build a school. Once again, in Ryder's opinion, his sister has over reacted, or so he thinks. Hannah is the girl he's loved and left so many years ago. And used her to measure every woman since then. Sparks fly when they are thrown together. And the storytelling just gets better as Ryder realizes his sister and her friend may have actually discovered something. The twists were good end unexpected. This series just keeps improving with each book.

Ryder gets a call from his sister to come to a tropical island and indicates it's life or death. When he gets there, he doesn't really understand why she's called but can't wait to get off the island because his sister's best friend who happens to be his ex is just too much temptation. He tries to resist her but can't, he thinks she regrets getting together but his protective nature and jealousy of anyone that comes near her is obvious. When he finally sees what his sister was talking about the danger is almost immediate. Luckily, he's big, tough and resourceful and gets them out of danger, well physical anyway! The hit his heart takes is another story! There's definitely a HEA but you have to read the book yourself to see how they get there! Love Kamps writing and the cover on this book is well....HOT, as is the story! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

The Defender: RYDER is another fantastic addition to the Cover Six Security series by Lisa B Kamps and has a murder mystery feel to it. Of course, there's also the romance and hot scenes that I've come to expect from this author's books. I enjoyed getting to know Ryder better after getting glimpses of him in the first two books, and I still can't decide who my favourite guy of this series is lol. Whilst this book can be read as a standalone, I suspect you'll go back to the beginning and read the ones you've missed if this is the first you've read because this author's books always leave you wanting more and needing to spend time with her amazing characters. I'm excited to see what this series has planned next, and I really hope Ninja gets his own book at some point! A definite recommended read!

This story is what I have come to except from this author- suspense with a little mystery, well-written sexy scenes, characters who open up their emotions, and a happy, but realistic ending. Her plots are similar in that a man from Cover Six Security is called upon to help an independent woman in needed, his teammates are there to “cover his six”, and there is at least one action scene. What makes each book unique is the originality of the situation the ladies are in, as so far they have not been a typical cookie-cutter scenario.
Ryder, Boomer, is answering his sister’s SOS. Ryder and Colter arrive on a tropical island that is anything but paradise. With his sister, is his first love, Hannah. His teenage relationship with Hannah ended badly, with him being the jerk. He is determined to never hurt Hannah again. The story takes off from there, leading to a beach cave and intrigue.

Wow! Talk about a fast paced, wild and crazy ride. What the heck is happening on that remote island? That's why Ryder Hess gets a call from his sister to go there and find out. This book is another amazing story in this series! It is chock full of action, adventure and suspense with a nice second chance at love tossed in for the very sexy Ryder with his old flame, Hannah, who is also his sister's best friend. Problem is he crushed her heart all those years ago and it is going to take a lot to fix that, despite the obvious chemistry between them. I love Ryder and Hannah so much and I also love the hints at what I hope to be an Allison and Ninja book coming up. The writing is so well done that I felt like I was there on the island trying to help solve this mystery!

You are going to love Ryder’s alpha protective tendencies as well as Hannah’s strong, sassy personality as they work together to solve the mystery of who is smuggling guns and killing people on the small remote island. A wonderful second chance romance in the middle of murder, mystery and mayhem on an isolated paradise island with great characters and a smartly written story that had me on the edge of my seat unable to put the book down from beginning to end. I loved the sizzling chemistry and sexy intimacy between Ryder "Boomer" Hess, former Army Ranger now a member of Cover Six Security and independent Hannah Montgomery, humanitarian activist, and his sister's best friend. Ms. Kamps knocked me for a loop with this third book in her must-read Cover Six Security series and I can't wait to see what she has for us in book four.

Humanitarians, Vacationers, and a hand full of lies!
Who were the humanitarians and who were imposters? Was anyone really on vacation? Who was telling lies? Was anyone telling the truth? What can happen on a small, remote Caribbean island? The Defender: Ryder is one wild adventure! It’s a mixture of past and present relationships and friendships, with a second chance thrown in!
Allison, Ryder, Hannah and Ninja were wonderful character and Author Kamps did an amazing job with multiple POV! Now the other characters, I’m not sure I can call them wonderful because they were quite the characters! Set some time aside, because you’re going to want to read this book in one sitting!
