TINA GLASNECK can't imagine a world without books. Her works have been classified in several genres, including mystery, suspense, fantasy and paranormal romance, and new adult.Yet for Tina, it is all about the characters and their journeys.

An avid reader with a love of traveling, meeting new people and exploring her world, her interest in law, religion, history, fantasy, and dragons, made writing about it an “easy” choice. Give her a castle to enchant her, and tell her a funny story to make her snort with laughter, but please don’t serve her cake with red icing.

Tina takes joy in beautiful architecture, lively cities and world travel. She enjoys creating make-believe worlds where she sometimes resides, and is often thinking and tinkering on her next story. Sometimes she feels like a real life Cinderella, without the ashes or the fairy godmother, and at other times, she is just a girl, looking for a chance to tell that next great story.

I enjoyed these stories, but the one that jumped out and grabbed me was Mr. Midnight by Allan Leverone.
Wow, what to say about this book. First off, if you are put off by graphic violence, then this book is not for you. However, if you can handle the violence, then this book is one wild ride. This was one of the most sadistic and twisted serial killers that I have come across in my reading, and the descriptions used by the author were gut wrenching. But I could not stop reading the book. The "flickers" experienced by Milo and Cait were very intriguing, and it was easy to feel the incapacitating strength of them. I enjoyed the multiple threads of the story and thought it was masterful how they were slowly wound together. I have already bought the second book in the series and am anxious to continue the journey.

My Review is for Facing the Past by J.J. Cagney

A young woman Danielle Patterson has a loving husband and two amazing little boys. Danielle finally has the family life she has always wanted. Danielle has lived in the shadow of her big brother’s death for most of her life as his killer was never found. Her mother, Nancy spent most of her days trying to figure out who killed her son not leaving much time for Danielle.

Nancy kept a journal of the days without her son and trying to find her son’s murder. I imagined that writing everything down helped Nancy put everything into perspective and probably helped with her grieving while bringing it all out for her. I think her journals were another way for her to deal with the loss of her little boy.

Facing the Past is a story of a mother and a daughter dealing with the loss of one little boy that touched both of their hearts and lives over the years and how each of them coped with it. It made each woman stronger and maybe even a better parent.

Facing the Past is a heart-wrenching story that will have you in tears on more than one occasion. It will keep you glued to the pages trying your best to figure out who hurt this little boy and his family and wondering what kind of person would do something like that and why.

I understand that Facing the Past may not be for everyone but I do believe that it could be very therapeutic for others. Maybe hopefully it would or could help someone to know how someone else dealt with the loss of a child or brother and the aftermath is what helped them to put one foot in front of the other one day at a time.

I’ve read a few books by these authors and one of them, Facing the Past, doesn’t disappoint.
Danielle’s bigger brother Jonny was murdered when he was 7. Nobody ever figured out who killed him, or why. But now her mother is dying and her last wish is to share some information with Danielle. Information that she has to give to the Detective that was there when Jonny was found. With only 40 days until his retirement, now Chief Arlen Hardesty takes the call from Nancy and knows that there’s no way he can retire without putting this case, and a family’s anguish, to rest. But things aren’t all they seem. Her father, who left Nancy and Danielle, seems to have more to do with Jonny’s death than anyone suspects. And Danielle doesn’t know exactly what her mother’s journals might unearth. Was her father involved in his own son’s death? What exactly happened to Jonny? And will Chief Hardesty be able to solve the case before another child is murdered?

This book has a fantastic plot, spine-tingling twists, and realistic characters -all make this a great read!

Puerile at best

I got to 41% before I gave up on this dreck. If these 'books' were written by a 15 year old child, I'd applaud & say "Good job!". However, these books are written by adults. Purportedly. I will say that the premise of some of them were intriguing, but the storyline was poorly written. None of the authors could keep their storyline consistent. The ability to take a good idea & craft it into a good story is the hallmark of a good writer. NONE of the authors in this collection fit that description. In one story the 'serial killer' cut off the same woman's finger twice, same finger. The detective, who was supposedly the nation's best profiler didn't have a clue. He blundered throughout the story like a clueless fool. He was famous for his gut instinct & ability to read a crime scene. He was nothing more than an arrogant idiot. Then the 'author' had the unmitigated gall to cut the story off as a cliffhanger. That's when I threw in the towel. No more. I will be sure to mark all the 'authors' in this collection DNR.

This whole anthology is great but I chose to review my favorite out of the anthology to review.

Book Review: Beauty, the Beast and the Library
Author: Jane Blythe
FIVE STARS
Very quick read, will keep you engaged and guessing who dun it. Ms. Blythe has captured my attention with this book. I am not usually a fan of suspense but this book was well written and it kept me on the edge of my seat just long enough.
I honestly didnt know what I was getting into when I read the title. Just knew it was about a Library and a fairy tale. Yeah this is nothing like the Disney movie. Be prepared for some shocking moments.
Great story and I will be seeking out more suspense from Ms. Blythe in the very near future. What a welcome change from my usualy genre.

This review is based on 1 book:Facing the Past by Alexa Padgett.
OMG! This series is worth 99 cents just for this book. It is the story of an unsolved 30 year old kidnapping and murder of a young boy and the ensuing fallout on the family, friends and police. On her death bed, the mother contacts the police and leaves them her journals hoping they contain the necessary clues to finding the serial killer. This book is a well-written, well-paced story that gave me white knuckle moments with a kick-butt ending. I recommend spending the money to purchase this series. If you only read this book, it is worth the price!

I liked the stories but I would have liked if they continued with the series for each of the stories. When I'm finished reading one of the mysteries, I don't have time or pad and pencil to write down the next book in the series that I or maybe other readers might want to get. So the authors are missing out on readers getting their rest of the series. By the time the 13 mysteries are finished I have forgotten which e-books I wanted to continue with the series. They could have come out with Volumes.

But the death of Nancy, Danielle’s mother will reopen the case when they found Nancy’s diaries and it will put Danielle and her family in danger, because of the dark secret behind Jonathan’s death. Murder However You Want It

This book set is absolutely the greatest. Each one of the authors in this set has done a phenomenal job in penning their story of murder and mayhem. Authors like Judith Lucci, J.J. Carney, Steve Gannon, Terry Keys, Steve Vicent, Allan Leverone "Mr Midnight", and Kerry Donovan, will have you feeling, but putting them all together leaves you speechless.

Riveting

All 13 books were very well written. Each one kept me on the edge of my seat. They kept me up nights because I couldn’t stop reading they were so riveting and intense. It seemed as if with each new one I would start the stories would become more and more intense. The last three being the hardest to read due to the amount of violence, but they were also some of the best crime stories I have read. I’m sure I will be looking over my shoulder for quite awhile.

Good stories, but...

I could only finish one, the rest were too long and in some cases boring so much that I skipped chapters and read the last one and epilogue if there was one. It must be my age because I used to read books with more than 30 chapters religiously. Now is there's more than 20 chapters I start getting bored. These were good books, the authors are great but the action is so slow that it's like a daily diary instead of a mystery.

I read Facing the Past by J.J. Cagney. This was a really intense book with very realistic characters. I enjoyed how the author developed the characters and how they grew throughout the book. I recommend it if you're looking for a good suspenseful read and I would expect this anthology to be equally great.
