Nobody threatens his mate and gets away with it!

Bodyguard, Hunter, returns to Bear Creek for some downtime between jobs. However, his world is soon turned upside down when he offers to help Cynthia, who has received a threatening letter from an unknown source. The investigative reporter, who is responsible for bringing an end to a child trafficking ring, is his mate.

Hunter swears he will do whatever it takes to protect Cynthia and her children. Even if it costs him his life.

But he would rather hunt down the person responsible for the threat and let his bear rip their head off.

Cynthia thought she’d ended the reign of terror brought about by a child trafficking ring. It soon becomes clear she has some unfinished business that will threaten her future and that of her children.

However, when she meets Hunter, she realizes she is not in this alone. She is his mate, and he’ll stand by her side no matter what.

With the help of other members of Bear Creek Protectors, she’s ready for one last fight, one last chance to bring a bad guy to justice, and reunite four lost children with their parents.

If you are a reader who does not follow a series from start to finish in order then I would strongly suggest that you at least pick up BABYSITTER BEAR before diving into PROTECTOR BEAR for Cynthia’s investigation into the child trafficking ring begins in the third story of this series and provides much information to help make sense of the nuances in this one. Do you have to? No, of course not. Yet you’ll understand her emotional state and the underlying need to protect her and her son and daughter even more.

Cynthia is trying to bring calmness and normalcy back into her life and that of her children after her investigative reporting that helped bring down a vile child trafficking ring and the mastermind behind it. The arrival of a letter and a photograph will make that an impossibility. The former bodyguard for her children now makes her home in Bear Creek, and the kids loved it there and felt safe with Jenna and Flint. Cynthia makes the snap decision to return to Bear Creek to protect her family while she decides what to do about the threats. She sought safety, she never expected to find a second chance at love with her own bear shifter mate.

Hunter is a protector above all else, a dependable bodyguard who is very good at his job. But everyone, especially a bear shifter, needs a break now and then so after finishing up his latest job Hunter and his bear are looking forward to some time alone on the mountains around Bear Creek. A chance stop at the office will bring Hunter into the troubles surrounding Cynthia and her children… and put him in a direct line with meeting his mate, finally. Although Cynthia understands the concept of mates, she’s focused on bringing life back to normal for her kids and a new romance is not on her radar and might never be. The newest threat will bring Hunter and Cynthia closer, have them working together and building a bond that will, hopefully, have Cynthia realizing that not everyone gets a second chance at love and she should grab it while she can.

We’ll get to meet up with a lot of familiar faces from earlier in the Bear Creek/Bear Bluff series as the search for those who threaten Cynthia and even more missing children intensifies. We’ll also get an introduction to some characters that I hope will have their own stories told one day. There is danger, betrayal, twists, and turns, a sizzling love story and a very good story to enjoy in PROTECTOR BEAR. I would not hesitate to recommend this one or any story in these series as they are all quite good and very addicting.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought Hunter and Cynthia were awesome together, and Hunter was the perfect man for her second chance at happiness and love and her first husband Conner was m*rdered by Hansel the head of the child traffic*ing ring. Hunter would also be an amazing father to Cynthia and Conner’s children Laurel and Thomas as well as any biological children they have together. I loved that Fate brought them together after Cynthia received a note on her doorstep saying they’d take away from her what she took away from them with a photo of her kids, she thought that all those responsible for the child traffic*ing ring were all arrested but she decides to head to move to Bear Creek as she knows that her and her children will be safe and once they arrive she sees Hunter and knows that they’re mates by the look in his eyes but she’s scared after losing her first husband she was happy to it just being her and the kids, she comes around to the idea that they were brought together now for a reason and that reason being that she needs help to find the missing kids that weren’t recovered from the farm house of horrors that was part of the child traffic*ing ring that Cynthia helped breakup and bring them home if they’re alive or at least find their bodies so the families can at least get some form of closure. I thought it was great how Cynthia didn’t just take that Hunter and her are mates at face value and that she went into it cautiously after losing her first love and she has the kids to think about. She actually got to know Hunter first and I’m glad that Hunter was okay that Cynthia was just offering him a chance at them possibly being fully bonded in the future and didn’t try a sway her. I loved how many people banded together to help search for the missing kids, it had a real sense of community. All I can say is Cynthia is bada*se and loved how proud her kids are of her. I found it a bit frustrating that Wyatt the ex-hermit wolf shifter was constantly being referred to as Walt who is actually Theo’s dad and a non-shifter. I’m looking forward to reading Rob’s story next. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

This is a good shifter romance, and a good addition to the series. Hunter and Cynthia are a likable couple, and I liked that it featured characters from the earlier Bear Creek books. It is a quick read, so there wasn't time for a lot of in-depth character development -- but there was enough to like the couple and to want them to find their HEA.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

This is an extremely enjoyable, suspenseful shifter romance. The story-line is well-thought out and written with a suspenseful plot, which certainly kept my attention. The characters are well-developed, and have a variety of traits and different sides to their individual personalities. There are some character crossovers from previous books in the Bear Creek series, but this book is complete & standalone.
There is: a female investigative reporter & single mother who receives a threatening letter (Cynthia), her children (a son, Thomas & daughter, Laurel), a bear shifter & bodyguard who offers to help her & soon discovers that she is his mate (Hunter), friends, friendship, children trafficking, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, mystery, adventure, action, threats, danger enemies, memories, attractions, fate, missing children, guilt, doubts, speculations, anticipation, hopefulness, a set-up, confrontations, manipulations, determination, searching, discovery, happiness, contentment, some steam, love & a well-earned happy conclusion. I enjoyed reading this shifter romance & would recommend it.

Great follow-up to book 3

Cynthia worked hard to shut down a child trafficking ring, and did it. But now her children in being threatened, and she goes back to Bear Creek for help, where she meets her mate, Hunter. There are many things for them to do before she can truly grasp that reality. I loved watching them learn about each other. The kids are cute, too, and always add something special to a story. This is a fast paced book with a hopeful tone, a character oriented storyline with a few steamy scenes and some action. The characters are vibrant and endearing. This story was sweeter and a little less intense than others in the series have been.

I would recommend reading at least this series in order. If you want more then get the box set with Bear Creek and Bear Bluff, and the read Return to Bear Bluff and then Return to Bear Creek, THEN read this series. There are a few other series set in and around Bear Creek, as well, but I feel these are the main ones. Enjoy!

Excellent

Might just be my favorite of the series. Cynthia is a strong independent journalist who has brought down a number of bad guys and has more than a few enemies. Hunter happens to back in town just as Cynthia and her young son and daughter are threatened by one of those enemies. Although Cynthia is no 100% on-board with her fated mate she is willing to get Hunter a chance. When information come her way on some of the children that went missing in the child trafficking ring she brought down, the Bear Creek Protectors, family and friends come together to help find those missing. Although a happy ending, I was brought to tears several times. Will Guy get his story?

Letter Of Intent??

Cynthia is an investigative reporter, who busted up a child trafficking ring, she also has two young children. Hunter is a bodyguard with Bear Creek Protectors. Cynthia and her children take a trip to Bear Creek when she receives a letter threatening her children again. Hunter offers to pick them up at the airport. As soon as he sees her, it’s love at first sight. Two boys are still missing, this is her chance to rid herself of the guilt from not finding all the children and Hunters chance to help his mate. With her children safe at Jenna and Flints, they begin their search for the other boys, little do they know that there is so much more going on! Check out the rest of this story, I truly enjoyed it!

We need to think!

Protector Bear: Bear Creek Protectors Book 4
By Harmony Raines
Kindle unlimited purchase
Cynthia is a force to be reckoned with. When she gets a threatening she gets a threatening note sent to her house she packs up her kids and heads for Bear Creek.
Hunter has just come home from a long mission he is ready for 2 quite weeks up in the mountain. But fate has other plans.
This book deals with the hard truths about what is going on in our world. It's going to take people like these characters in this book to stop it. Yes, the plot of this book is hard and a lot would say not needed, but it is the truth so don't sweep it under the rug. I hope it gets us talking, to realize that it is happening and it is happening more than we think.

Finding the lost children

The subject in this book is a tough one. Knowing how bad child trafficking is and writing about it in the way Harmony did helps bring it to light. Bear Creek protectors book 3 started the journey and this book finished the story. I do not like the fact that they left the kids without bothering to even look for them at all. I certainly hope that would not ever happen in real life. The journey that Hunter and guy and Cynthia went on to find the children is a good story. Having the rest of bear creek show up to help find the boys is even better. It's a great story that gives hope, fate and love a chance for people to believe in.

My review reflects my opinion of the subject matter and differs from the majority of others.
This basically followed on from book 3.
And as much as I liked having known characters from earlier books being part of this story, the subject matter is just something I am not happy about.
There is enough of this nastiness happening in real life and I don’t need to read about it. My reading time is to switch off and relax.
Once again we get an instant knowledge and acceptance about being mates and therefore I felt little romance factor.
Did love the ending with the children being found safely.
I was offered this book for an honest review but read it through KU.

Enthusiastic 5 🌟's

A very engaging and suspenseful story. Cynthia Callaghan thought the child trafficking ring had been dismantled until she received a mysterious package which sent her and her children back to Bear Creek and surprise!, her mate. As they search for the mastermind of the trafficking ring and the missing children, Cynthia and her mate, bear shifter Hunter must decide whether or not they have a future together. Lots of action, drama and, of course, a very heartwarming happily ever after.

Hunter and Cynthia

Wow! I am truly enjoying the Bear Creek Protectors series. Fantastic plots packed with action, adventure, heartwarming moments and red hot romance. What is there not to like. Protector Bear is not different though touches on child trafficking and the aftermath. But like all Harmony Raives it does have a HEA. Loved Hunter and Cynthia characters, more mature couple with experience on life and its hardships. Cant wait to read Guy and Rob's stories! Highly recommended

Harmony Raines writes fun books. What's not to like about a protective bear shifter and an investigative reporter who is also a mother of two. A threat is made against the mother and her children and the Bear Creek Protectors are on the job. Missing kids are also in the equation. Familiar shifters/characters from earlier books help in the search. Warm and witty, strength and community, this book (and the series) is a welcome addition to my library.

Another wonderful story based on a horrible reality that comes right due to newly fated mates. Cynthia and her two children are threatened by the villains she exposed in a recent investigation into child trafficking so she packs up very quickly and goes to her friends in Bear Creek even though she is not a shifter. Just off the plane she meets her new fate and he becomes part of the team. An excellent read!

Saving them

When you meet your mate things should be easy, right? Not so when your mate is running from an unknown person after almost losing her kids to a child trafficking group. Can Hunter save Cynthia and help her save the lost children or will the bad guys win? Protector Bear is a continuation of the Bear Creek Protectors series that can be read alone but is much better after reading book 3.

Cynthia is the reporter who blew the child trafficking case wide open

Cynthia is at home with her 2 kids when she gets a threatening letter. Now she is back at Bear Creek and is picked up at the airport by her friend and a bear shifter she has never met but he is her true mate. Now they must work together to find out who is behind the threat to her and her kiddos. I highly recommend this book and series.

KU Edition reader...

Get ready for the dramatic, intriguing, and heartrending story ahead. The issue of human trafficking is very real, and the trafficking of children is horrific! The culprits were identified and arrested in the last story, but not all the children were. Cynthia Callaghan thought the case was finished until...oops, you definitely need to read it to find out!

Heroes without capes

True to form from Harmony, this book went beyond my expectations. There was a good storyline, suspense, crime, heroes, mates, Fate and love. Continuing from previous book, this book flowed into another fated mates story that always has a twist on why they are meeting and needing protection.

Another fabulous story in this series

Plenty of action and danger in this story of missing and exploited children as Hunter and Cynthia search for them in a vast forest along with Hunter's shifter friends. This was a sequel to the Babysitter Bear story and well worth reading as a follow-up to Flint's story.

Great read!!

What's not to like? Great series. This is Hunter and Cynthia's story. You also have a lion, eagles, and bears on and mates. I would normally say bad guys but in this case they are evil men. Definitely a HEA. Definitely recommend the book, the series and most of all the author. Me Raines, I have a lot of your books and have enjoyed every one of them. Thank you.

Reporter Cynthia Callaghan returns to Bear Creek when someone threatens her children, after she broke the child slavery ring.

She meets Hunter, who turns out to be her mate, and together they search for the last two missing children who escaped the trafficking ring into the surrounding forest.

Protector Bear

Another wonderful book. You have a way to make each book amazing. Knowing shifters don't exist and get when reading your books they come to life is staggering. Knowing child trafficking is real, made this book more human and sadly entertaining.
