Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book!
I've been doing yoga for some time now and I've sometimes meditated, too. I never made it into a practice though. This book gives some great advice to get started! There are a lot of meditations in this book for different purposes (like relieving stress or becoming more focused).
I think it's great that these meditations aren't very long. When you just start meditating it's difficult enough to sit still for a short time. At least, it was for me!
If you want to start meditating, or need some guidance in your practice, this book is a nice place to start!
I wanted to read this book as I was unsure how a book could explain or help me through meditation. Surely you would need something audible in order to have help when mediating?
I really enjoyed the affirmations within the book as this is something I always struggle with coming up with own my own. I also liked the illustrations too - they had a really unique style, and helped break up the different sections making the book feel easier to read. I also enjoyed the small sections on the theory of meditation - this is something I would like to know a lot more about.
however, the meditations themselves just didn't do it for me. Purely because I wanted to use the ideas from the book, but struggled to do this when actually practising my meditation as it pulled me out of my focus due to having to read, and focus on the book. I think this book would work better in audio book format because of it. (Although you would miss out on the beautiful illustrations)
This little book has really divided me with my opinions. On the one hand I loved the cute layout and illustrations, but on the other I found the meditations being in 'book-form' distracting.
A lovely book that introduces the reader to many different types of meditation. I think that this would make a wonderful audio book as most of them require you To close your eyes and then continue the various thought processes. To try to remember everything spoilt the meditative state and it would help to hear a soothing voice tell the person meditating the next thought process. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn to relax in today’s intensive world. This book together with a partner to talk you through the techniques that suit you will gradually enable the thought training to become more natural and you will then not need someone to read to you. A great resource book.
Following on from the Little Book of Mindfulness this book gives short, easy meditations - particularly useful for novices, like me. Would be good for teaching others new practices or as an audiobook which would be a better format for someone using it on their own. Overall I would recommend this as a good starter - particularly using little bits at a time. 4 🌟 Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review.
I really liked this book especially for it's practical use. I can come back to it time and time again when I want to practice a specific type of meditation. Definitely would recommend if you're into meditation.
I love this book! It is great for sharing some down time with my daughter. It helped me show her how to have still time, to relax and reset, ready for when she starts school and has more stress on her. It is very helpful, and great at sharing the knowledge of meditation.
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. There were a lot of great tips and ideas in this book to guide you on your meditation journey, no matter how novice or advanced you are. Highly recommend.
A nice easy to read book on meditation. I have started using but not noticed any significant difference as yet - but I suppose this will take a little time.
A little (94 pages) of meditations thinking about assigned thoughts and then considering them, meditating (sic) them. Gentle, sweet, thoughts about thinking.
Nein.
