A tragic explosion results in the death of over 200 airplane passengers. Was the explosion caused by pilot error, or was it a conspiracy?
Pilot Cathalene (Lena) Penn, accused by the airline of being a smuggler, died in the tragedy, and her wife, Jessica is desperate to clear Lena’s good name.
When Jessica travels to Belgium, her wife’s home away from home, she discovers diamonds, a second family, and a mystery…
Sometimes, choosing between what is safe and what is right isn’t easy, and running away is always an option…Flight!
This book started and finished with lots of twists and excitement. The middle dragged a bit when the romance storyline took over the action and I actually forgot I was reading this (side effect of having a bunch of books on the go at any given time) until I stumbled across it half-finished on my Kindle. I didn’t want to DNF and I was curious about the outcome.
I liked the intrigue and I thought Jess was very intelligent and I liked how she never gave her secrets away. The side characters were interesting too, even if I sometimes wanted to smack Tabitha—good characterization for a typical teen, though!
The story has a lot of potential but it needs at least one more round of edits to smooth out some issues. The main one is rampant head-hopping, which leads to a lot of telling in the narrative instead of the MC discovering the information naturally.
I was honored to read K’Anne Meinel’s Flight in exchange for an honest review. What can I say? I loved the story. I loved the characters. I especially loved when the heartbreaks turned into wonderful new beginnings. I have just spent the last 8 hours finishing this story. I would reread it in a heartbeat, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good read packed with the love of ‘family’, and their dedication to one another... with a lot mystery along the way. Thank you Ms. Meinel for allowing me to read your work. I enjoyed it.
What a story! This mystery twisted and turned throughout. It has a healthy mix of crime, drama and family crisis all seasoned with a pleasant sprinkling of lesbian romance. I particularly enjoyed the family dynamics as it is still rare to find novels with strong lesbian characters that have already created families together. This was my first K'Anne Meinel novel, but after this I will definitely be looking up some of her other work.
Take Flight. This was a very interesting character driven book centered on Jessica Penn. We follow Jess over the course of nearly a decade as she is awoken to the news that her wife has died in some form of plane crash and we follow her through all that is revealed in the aftermath. The story has a major swerve about 50% in, as the narrative of the first half changes and a new villain emerges - with direct ties to the original. Great story excellently written.
Just when you think you have a grasp on the storyline, Meinel throws another twist in the fire. Her characters continue to surprise you. Meinel has created a great story with a unique curve and characters that you are drawn to, characters you really dislike with a passion, and others you are ambivalent about. She tackles tough subjects and handles them very well. If you are looking for a book to immerse yourself into, check out Flight. You won’t be disappointed.
If you have ever read books by K'Anne Meinel you will know that her characters are always well defined with twists and turns that leave you either loving them or hating them, or in some cases changing your mind part way through the book as something dramatic happens and a different side to them emerges, K'Anne never leaves you feeling like the characters are one dimensional that's for sure.
This book has you wondering who is the villain in the storyline, was it a simple plane crash or something more? How far does love get you when one partner dies in unusual circumstances? How far will your morals allow you to go in order to find out the truth about the person you loved and would you keep any of the ill-gotten gains to support your family?
There is mystery galore, intrigue and plenty of twists to the plot of this book, you won't regret picking this book up!!
If you love this book as I did then you should also check out K'Anne Meinel's 'Survivors', 'Doctored', 'Inn the Dog House' and 'Lawyered' to name just a few of her books.
Ohhh wee it's been a while but this book still stayed with me and I randomly think about it.
What would you do if you found out your dead wife had a whole other family? That alone was enough for me not to read this book. But I read this without reading the synopsis and it had me hooked.
This was my first book by this author and since then I've read a few others and she climbed my list to join the favorite author category.
This book isn't what you think, there u.s a mystery to unravel and the characters growth (the main characters) through out this entire thing is incredible. I love her.
I feel conflicted about the ending that I made my reading buddy read the book so we can talk about the ending. She loved it and thought it good, I thought add more to the pile. If you've read the book, what are you're thoughts?
Absolutely loved it. I recieved this book free from the author. I took a long time to read it, but I didn't want it to be over. I fell in love with the characters. Jess is amazing and I loved all the twists and turns this story took.
I loved Flight. This book is a great combination of mystery and romance. There is enough mystery and intrigue to keep you guessing. Great cast of characters.
Lets not forget books released in earlier years. Excellent story, with all the feels. tears, anger, twists, on the edge. Course it is a 10 hour all day/night listen once you get started.
