Not my first by this author but, to my mind, her best work so far. The ghost story has its roots in the first chapters where we are told the beginnings of the plot but other characters are not. The story is fast paced, a page turner but, at the same time, the characters are so well drawn that the readers believes themselves to be in the story.

This is not that unusual for this author who excels on character development. What I hadn't expected though were a number of twists towards the end and a sudden "Ah, yes," moment as you realise all the bits you glossed over that were more important than first thought.

An excellent read and well worth five stars.

Dark elements and some excellent characters

The story starts with Willie, trying to make an ouija board to communicate with his grandfather, who had been like a father and best friend to him. The ouija board works and Willie communicates beyond the veil.

The scene moves to a few years later when the main butler of Willie's mansion is worried about Willie's condition. Willie has become emancipated and the place around him is continuously cold, no matter what is done. With the help of the doctor, Phil Piers is brought inside the place. He is something like a medium and he is trying to help Willie.

That starts the secrets of the mansion which addresses all the terror happening to Willie and the answers are not easy, nor are they easy to guess.

The exorcism seems to be the way out and Phil and John are involved in that.

The dark elements, the secrets were all perfectly well explained and spooky too. Phil was an amazingly well etched character. The main butler was perfect too. His role comes out in the very end, shaking the readers. Very good read.

Surprising and unexpected ending

This author amazes me every time she publishes new work. She, of course, provides clues throughout for the reader to pick up, but if the reader is taken by the written words then he/she will miss the plentiful clues. Perhaps that was the author’s intent and it was successful since I was surprised of the unexpected ending. This is not the usual paranormal terror tale, this is a refreshing work full of well known characters, if you read the author’s previous work, who battle their own demons. Phil Spiers and his partner are likable characters as they try to fight entities that desire to live in all eternity. The reader sees their vulnerability and their raw emotions and instantly identifies with them regardless of the situation. Furthermore, I love the author’s ability to marry old doctrines with modern life. Well done. Waiting patently for the next tale.

(4.5 stars)

This is book 3 in the Dark Terror series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone as well even though it follows the journey of the main character from the previous 2 books.

Phil Spiers is a renowned psychic and expert who helps balance the fine line between the living and the Supernatural.
Along with his partner he helps solve cases that are beyond the control of this realm.
In this episode he is faced with a fork in the road when he tries to rescue a naive teenage's attempt of make contact with his deceased Grandfather.
Can he and John help the family that hired him and solve this curious mystery?

This book was full of twists and turns that kept me engaged from the very first page.
The author's writing style was unique and compelling and I found myself entirely immersed in the world building created by them.
The characters were likeable, relatable and well fleshed out.
The ending was entirely unexpected and I can say I definitely didn't see that coming.

If you are looking for a gripping paranormal mystery that will keep you guessing till the very end, you will absolutely love this.

On to the third in the series, and perhaps Phil’s greatest challenge.

Young Wilson Caldwell was lonely; his parents lost in an accident, he was raised by his grandfather, who kept the boy largely away from other children in order to reduce negative influences on him. A well-meant but unwise gesture as, now that the grandfather has died, seventeen-year-old Wilson is lonely: one TV programme on contacting the dead and a home-made Ouija board later, the teenager thinks he’s found a route to those who were closest to him …

Some years later, it’s clear to the servants at the mansion which Wilson occupies that something is wrong, and not an everyday kind of wrong. Enter Phil Spiers, natural medium and exorcist, a gay yet celibate soul who assists those who have somehow tangled with demonic forces. Can Phil help Wilson as he has helped others before him?

Another terrifying tale from author A Drew, warning of the dangers of dabbling in areas which we know little if anything about. A gripping page-turner which also demonstrates that those who do not follow the ‘accepted’ role of heterosexuality can still be righteous before the Lord.

One helluva finish of this book.

Another story with Phil and his friend, John included in story from the authors Dark Hunter series of books.
WOW..What a finish.. I'm speechless and reeling with it.
This had me right from the start with Wilson. This has some confusion regarding ages of Wilson's character at the start with his Grand Pa's death. The story progresses which the Shadow is not happy with the events in the home. I loved the scene where Phil and Wilson share a moment when their eyes meet.  Includes age gap, a dark shadow, and one helluva finish of the story.  A few editing misses in the book with repeating. The ending has a huge twist I mean really BIG twist. This a a good horror supernatural with a touch of romance included. This is Not a HEA story.
Wilson makes a huge mistake when he plays with his Ouija board so he could communicate with his Grand Pa. Time skip 3? yrs- he's 20 and not doing very well.
Phil is called to help Wilson since he was a psychic and his friend John who knew all about demons might be needed.

This is surely a book for fans of the paranormal genre. Entombed is so cativating that I found it hard to put down. While there were only a few characters, they were all very well developed. I kept feeling sorry for the senior butler until near the end when I came to understand why he was treated as he was. Each character was anxious for the psychic, Phil, to be successful and to bring an end to the nightmare they were living.
As I read, I felt a fever pitched ending lay ahead but when it did come, it was all so unexpected. I did not see this end coming at all.
Although this is a short book, Entombed packs a powerful punch. There were many thought-provoking parts to the story but the strongest message I got was that we should accept each other for who and what we are and find it within our ownselves to be accepting of differences.
Of course, I recommend this book but as I have not read the first two books, I am recommending that readers new to this series join me back at book one and follow the story from its very start.

This spooky story takes place in a mansion, where a young boy Wilson resides, looked after by butlers, including Benson. Since Wilson's grandfather passed away, he's been devastated and really struggled to move on. He decides to mock up a Ouija board using cardboard and then attempts to communicate with the other side hoping to contact Grandpa. He makes contact with somebody on the other side, but is not sure who.

Many years later, Wilson is chronically ill and bed bound and the staff at the manor don't know what to do to help him. It seems difficult to identify the illness. They summon a spiritualist, Phil, to try and heal poor Wilson and then the story unfolds.

This is a high energy, supernatural horror. Very well written and keeps you page turning as you determine to find out what happens next. I was very impressed, so will you be.

A gripping supernatural horror

This gripping supernatural horror unfolds within the walls of a grand mansion, where a young boy named Wilson lives under the care of attentive butlers, including Benson. Grieving the loss of his grandfather, Wilson crafts a makeshift Ouija board from cardboard in an attempt to communicate with the other side. Though unsure if he succeeds, it seems he manages to reach someone.

Years later, Wilson is bedridden with a mysterious illness, leaving the mansion staff at a loss for how to help. Desperate, they call upon a spiritualist named Phil in hopes of curing him, and from there, the story takes a thrilling turn.

This novel is a fast-paced, high-energy supernatural horror, skillfully written to keep you turning pages in anticipation of what happens next. It left a lasting impression, and it’s sure to captivate you.

A compelling tale of ghosts and demonic possession

This is the third in the supernatural series about Phil, the medium. In this one, the carers of a young man called Wilson invite Phil to investigate strange goings on with the master of the house. It doesn’t take long before Phil realises Wilson is suffering from demonic possession. With the loving butler, Benson, constantly by Phil’s side, offering help every step of the way, can the medium win this battle against evil? Is everything all that it seems?

Although I guessed the twist in this plot, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey as, once again, the author draws you into the experience with graphic, descriptive narrative and superbly well-rounded characters.

This is a great spooky tale, but very scary, so I suggest you read it with the lights on.

Supernatural Horror

Wilson tries to contact his deceased grandfather's spirit through a Ouija board. He did not know what he was dealing with. Other people also didn't know either until years later. Then comes Phil who is requested to check on Wilson. The spirit knows who is coming. This is a supernatural novel and if you like reading this combined with horror you will enjoy this book.

Nice one!

"Entombed" is a thrilling ghost story about Wilson, who, as a boy, believed he contacted his grandfather's spirit through an Ouija board, only to unknowingly connect with something far darker. Years later, psychic Phil Spiers is called to investigate the eerie happenings at Wilson's mansion, facing a powerful force that tests his abilities.
This supernatural mystery is filled with suspense, surprises, and an unexpected ending that will leave readers stunned.

A riveting story

A wealthy young man becomes possessed by an evil entity. Phil is a psychic who is flown in to help save him from this nightmare set in an opulent mansion. This story is very engaging and the writing style really creates an atmosphere that carries the reader through this short novel very quickly. I recommend this one, and I’ll be looking for the other books in this series!

At first I thought this was just another exorcist story. But oh, the plot twist at the end! I don't think I've ever been so completely blindsided before. This was very well done, I didn't see it coming at all, and yet every clue was there, from the beginning of the book.

NOTE: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Imitation is the best form of flattery. It's an old saying, but it sticks around for good reason: it's quite true. Plagiarism is, of course, unacceptable. But imitation, showing your influences, touching on the things which have gripped your heart and swallowed your soul and kept your blood racing into the wee hours of the morning... that's a different thing.

Entombed is a thrilling combination of many stories which you've heard before: there's a touch of the Exorcist, a bit of The Sixth Sense, a sprinkling of The House on Haunted Hill, and even a nice buddy cop dynamic that could come straight from any of the classic 80's films of that genre. None of the ideas or imagery within it are wildly unique or fantastically original, but that's okay. Because it's not trying to be anything new and wonderful and world changing; it just wants to be a solid ghost story. And though many parts are reminiscent of other tales you may have read, it's the combination of them, the placement, and the subtle changes to these tropes which makes Entombed more than just a knock-off thriller.

I'm giving this three stars because... well... first off, I'm a picky, picky bastard. Second, there some things which, had they been delved deeper into, could have rounded this story out well. There is a strong religious overtone to the book, with the main characters using prayers and their faith as a weapon. Yet, the main character is openly gay. I wanted to see how he balanced this in his life, and how it altered his view on the world. There was an acknowledgement of the class system, and of unfair wealth distribution, but it's only presented, not discussed. And while there is some hinting at a deeper backstory for the antagonist in the story, and that there may have been some type of undue and unjust punishment for them, there's no follow up or closure given to this character.

Addressing these issues could have given a more worldly awareness to the story, and allowed readers to connect on an intellectual level, as well as an entertainment level. I suspect this didn't happen because it could have broken the breakneck pacing which is set from near beginning of the story. It's always a difficult choice for an author to make.
