This was a great book and we have senku and co come up with amazing inventions and as they wanna find the cause of petrification, they need ship and for that preparations. They revive Francois, Ryusui's chef and they are amazing and the whole of them acquire bread, then they form radar, sonar and GPS and thanks to chrome, they have even got ore fields and thats all they need for steam engines and they even acquire wheat yep. The adventure continues, its so amazing seeing how even in this post apocalyptic world they find some way to survive it and come out on top! Senku is so amazing, even in the face of overwhelming odds he finds way to win and also the "why-man", the one behind the petrification!

The story just gets better and better. I didn't know I needed to see the Senku-Chrome-Ukyo-Gen-Ryusui radar gang. This far, you wouldn't even know hate anymore. Everyone is just interesting and fun characters. Especially Sagara!! Haha. Senku has a heart—well, not that you don't know that. Now, I'm ready for the secret of petrification!

This is the last volume available, so it's the one I can rate, although I've read up to the latest chapter, 115, of this ongoing series. I'm not sure the series as a whole has reached its midpoint, which is bittersweet: it's a great story, but now I'll have to find out what happens next a chapter at a time, with dilutes the strength of the narrative and breaks apart some of the ties between characters that were evident when you were reading the story all in one go. It's making the final stretch of "Attack on Titan", for example, way less impactful for me.

The third big arc is underway. .

The Kingdom of Science divides itself in two: .

This series hasn't gone down in quality. Among the over the top reactions, extremely clever scientific designs and general silliness are genuinely moving moments such as when . This series has a large cast of characters with often very distinct personalities that play entertainingly with each other. I don't know how the Japanese manage to create such charming friendships common in many mangas/animes; it could have to do with the isolation and homogeneity of their people for such a long stretch of time, but I don't want to get into that. In any case, you get to root for the characters and want them to succeed, which is more than I can say for probably most of the fiction I casually come across these days.

The author made Dunbar's number a part of the story: Senku is glad that for now their group only has around 150 people; if they had more, their society would naturally break apart into tribes that would be mostly strangers to each other. The theory behind Dunbar's number suggests that human beings have a cognitive limit to the amount of people they can live amongst happily, as if they were a extended family and in which they can safely contribute because it will truly benefit their kind. In reality, virtually any modern settlement, even most of the smallest towns, ignore this cognitive limit, so we live in clumps of urban tribes that mostly just tolerate each other while there are enough resources and some police force to keep us all subdued.

As a minor gripe, I could do with all the characters sucking science's dick less. I love science as well, as a way to shoulder the mysteries of the world as well as to face its troubles, but you don't have to praise it religiously every couple of chapters. You are basically sucking a withered stick at this point.

The Kingdom of Science is getting advanced pretty quick thanks to Senku's immense knowledge. Now we have a restaurant (run by a chef named Francois), a clothing shop, money, a balloon, and many more useful things. Senku doing the Einstein pose for a camera was great. Also, we finally meet our main antagonist (well we only hear him say why over and over but you get the idea). Senku and others try to find the source of this message.

If the previous scientific & technological breakthroughs were all in service of preparing for warfare, it seems like the next step before taking the leap to exploration is establishing the welfare of your own home base first!
For that, agriculture and advanced cooking just shot to the top of the priority list.
With the development of wheat as a staple crop, the explorers-to-be now need to have stable bread to eat on the journey...except none of the revived know how to bake good.
Thankfully, having watched & read enough Yakitate!! Japan, I know the truly gifted bakers can make the most out of very little.
ENTER THE FIRST NONBINARY CHARACTER OF THE SERIES, FRANCOIS!
Now, it could be that they have a gender they identify with, but the butler is so selfless & dedicated to the mission of serving, there'll be no STRAIGHT answer out of 'em!
And just like in Yakitate!! Japan, freshly baked bread truly blows the minds of everyone, primitive & revived (even if it's something as stereotypically reviled as fruitcake. *shrugs*)

Thanks to the wonderful randomness of sidequests, in pursuit of completion of one goal, you discover what you need to progress the main plot! In getting stuff for food, they discover what the Beverly Hillbillies found: black gold! Texas tea! So now they have gasoline for their vehicles!
Progress in peacetime is even more fascinating!

All the bad guys are now imprisoned or have converted wholly to the good team. The only challenge is facing the elements with everyone working toward the same goal - survival. If that's not a utopia, I don't know what is. We need a bad guy again.

This story never slows down. As soon as Tsukasa is defeated, Senku jumps to finding the source of the petrification (which involves recreating agriculture and radar among other things). I'm a little sad seeing the primitive technology aspects of the series disappear little by little as Senku gets into full-on oil drilling, iron mining industry, but I suppose that was baked into the premise. The character dynamics are as fun as ever, with Ryusui providing a deuteragonist who can compete for force of personality with Senku, and I can't wait to see him clash with Tsukasa later. The mysteries are coming out in full force as This a uniquely great manga, and I love that I have absolutely no idea how things will turn out.

They are making food now. Also maybe oil, I guess. They do more science! And they get a food person to revive, whose gender is left vague so let's see if Dr. STONE of all things gives us good non-binary rep or if this is setting the series up to fail.

I like that they are reviving people of different expertise, instead of having Senku be real smart. And characters like Chrom and Taiju get different motivations! But now the cast is getting real big and everyone is disappearing into the background, with the cast being too large and never giving any of them enough focus.

4/5 The squad is prepping for their journey. They’re gonna need some food. We finally start getting to agriculture. I was wondering when this was gonna happen thought it woulda came before cellphones, automobiles, and flight but what do I know. Oh and radar now we have radar.

We are then introduced to Ryusui’s revived butler Francios who is a wonder chef.

We are also given a peak at the potential big bad who may of caused the Stone Age.

Senku and Francois on the cover of volume 11.

I didn't like this volume as much as the others. Ryusui is cool but his finger snapping habit is getting really annoying, tbh. Due to the absence of a villain i was getting bored but rise of a new villain got me all excited in the end.

This one is ok as it just mainly them gathering materials to start their expedition to South America where they think the source of the Petrification came from. The only real big thing of note was that we get a very interesting hint about the source. As Senku and the others get a very strange message over the phone with it possibly coming from those that started the Petrification.

I did the thing I hardly ever do. It's to be avoided at all costs, but my enthusiasm for the series is dying and it would be unfair for me to continue. I skimmed... I did read these last few volumes at a rapid fire pace and there's no way it was designed for that.

Anywho, time to take a break and crack open some other series in the meantime. We had fun Stone. See ya later!
