Death on Highway 13

Rate this book

A dead body is dumped early one morning on Highway 13 by two men. The deceased, Dave Lomas, was murdered by members of a motorcycle gang The Skulls of Highway 13. He messed around with them one too many times.

Private Investigator Gary Bennet, who specializes in spying on cheating husbands, takes on the case to prove to himself and others that he is able to solve an important assignment for once in his  fledgling career.

Bennet finds out too late that the case he is hell bent on solving might end up getting him killed instead. But the more dangerous the case becomes, the more he stubbornly purses it, ignoring the price he'll be forced to pay.

The grammatical errors were distracting to the already slow, random plot line. I finished it for the sake of finishing, but was definitely a slow killer of time.

Story begins with the death on Hwy 13 with the body of Dave Lomas, a former high school classmate of private investigator Gary Bennett, who worked mostly cheating cases among married clients.
Story had that snappy, witty repartee in the narrative, but I ran into a lot of typos, which, let’s face it, could’ve been fixed. Instead of diving into the death of Hwy 13, the P.I gets sidetracked with following 3 men at a sex club. This whole thing was really slow with long narratives. We then start to learn about the Lomas family and the restaurant in chapter 4. Who cares, right?
This is just a very slow P.I. story that doesn’t focus well enough or fast enough of what the main title entails—the death on Hwy 13.
Not a good read.

It’s so bad, I wanna give you a 0, but that’s not possible, so I give you… a 1
Oh my god it took me over a week to finish this less than 300 page book. Soooo many typos and the formatting was atrocious! No structure whatsoever and there is absolutely nothing to make you care about the characters. Everything is so far fetched and so clearly from a man’s perspective (which is fine but the writing was horrible). The women were portrayed like they came right out of a misogynists fantasy… ick. The only semi redeeming quality (that would’ve been better if I cared about the characters) was that every “important” character to the story got an ending.

The story isn't bad, and for a short novel it has a decent story line. But honestly, the amount of grammatical and formatting errors made it nearly impossible to read. A book this length would normally take me 2 days of intermittent reading to finish. This one took me over a week because I'd have to reread some of the lines several times, then get frustrated and have to put it down. I am one that can usually read for 3-4 hours in one sitting, but I could barely get 45 minutes in and had to take a break. I almost didn't finish

Struggled to Finish

Story was good for a relaxing read but the typos and syntax made it extremely difficult to get into and remain in the flow. Confusing at times and disruptive. Too bad....I am assuming that
this may have happened when converting to digital format. Cannot believe this would have made it to print in the condition it is in

This is a decent story all and all. There are lots of typos. The book definitely could use a good proofreader. I also knew without looking that the author was a male, haha. Only in one's fantasy would most of the events happen. That's alright, though. I did get a chuckle out of the book. It's not that bad so give it a look.

Pretty good story.

I tried to enjoy this story. However, there was plenty of misspelling and various other grammatical errors. Obviously this story was not professionally edited. But basically I tried to stay with the story line. Despite all the misspelling as well as run-on sentences. Good luck with your next book.

Mystery

Well, the story was not that bad, but quite boring in the plot. Well, the main character was a typical American free guy, who is liberal with six and the mystery was done with him spent time with the girls.

There was a story here some place, but it got lost in lack of editing and formatting errors. This the first book that I could not finish. I am sure that if it went through a thorough edit it might amount to something.

Someone needs to proofread!

The story was good, but the fact that you have to add, subtract or change wording while reading is very annoying. Don't think ill read this author again.
Need to hire someone to proofread.

Weak Sad Story

Story of shallow characters lacking in intelligence ruled by emotions trained for a demand of instant gratification. Scanned through to the end in search of anything worthwhile but was unsuccessful.

Overpriced at 'free'

A badly written, badly - if at all - edited story about a loser who can't keep it in his pants, assorted other lovers, and a few murders, by turns mawkish, maudlin, and comically melodramatic

Need a proofreader! Many repeated phrases, missing words and incorrect words used. Punctuation was horrendous. Hard to read because time was spent trying to figure out what they were trying to say in spots.

The book went too quick and most things happened without much build-up or explanation. The flow was off, making it hard to look forward to what was to come next.

There was very little detail or story about the death. Little detail about clues and finding the truth. Wrote more about sex than anything.

Worse ever

Written by a mental midget with no writing skills or sense of style. Just skip it altogether and save yourself a disappointing waste of time

Murder in the rough

If you like books about murder, sex, foul language, and drugs and can tolerate errors in nearly every paragraph, you'll love this book.

Agony

Get someone to proofread your work. The story could have been okay with some formatting and knowledge of english .

A sweet story, but unfortunately the book itself has very many grammatical errors, words left out and words used twice, which made it quite hard to read.

Struggle to read

I can usually look past a few errors, but these were too frequent. I often had to read sentences twice to grasp the meaning.
The story line was a struggle.

A nice slow read

It took me time to get into this book, I'm not one for all that sex stuff. But it was sweet and not at all what I expected. Turned out to be a nice story.

Grammar

A good story but hard to read with so many typos and misspelled words.

Not for me

This book needs an editor and storyline. It was hard to get into, I didn't like any of the characters, it was confusing and sad and really really needed to be proof read
