Jessa loves Sam, as does Drew. And Sam? Well... That's where things get complicated.
There's a new boy in town. Troubled teen, Max, has been brought into the elite academy of HawkRidge High School by his father, a General in the Armed Forces. On his first day, he meets Jessa and she brings him into the fold of the captain of the football team, Sam, and the quarterback, Drew. These privileged teens aren't brats, though, and after a destitute childhood, Max expected nothing but brats at HawkRidge. What makes these three so unusual is the love he sees between them, and the more he watches, the more he wants that for himself. But every school has a mean girl, or in this instance, three. The Sarahs have it in for Jessa, and they're not afraid to go to any lengths to make her pay for stealing Sam away from one of their own. But when Max gets caught in the crosshairs, his new life is suddenly under threat. When a kid is taught he's bad, no matter what he does, he has only one option. Can Jessa stop him before it's too late? Find out in DARE YOU TO LOVE ME.

This book was so damn good, and I had a hard time putting it down! Very much a character-driven story which I loved. Jessa was such a unique, refreshing heroine and all three guys are to die for. I love that Sam and Drew love one another too and can’t wait for the next book where, hopefully, the relationships will move forward at a faster pace. Great writing and editing and it flowed beautifully. Looking forward to book 2! Highly recommended.
Read in Kindle Unlimited and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
I originally rated it at a 3 but after thinking more about it I bumped it up to a 4 simply because I really liked the heroine. Guys were good but she was almost perfect!
I have mix feelings: I really liked it and it was quick and fun, but the was a lot of girl-hate 🤷 I think that objectively it would be like 3 stars, but enjoyment wise, it's like 4 stars. So, let put it like 3,5 stars, but might change it later.
Also, I liked Max, but I wish that the relationship was only Jessa, Sam and Drew, sorry.
What a crazy good start to this series. Not only are the characters believable, but their emotions and interactions were believable. I was drawn into this story and cannot believe how it ended. I definitely need the next book ASAP!:). So good.
This was a good start but need more. Love the relationship between the three and hopefully they figure out how to add Max to the triad. Can't wait to see what the next book brings. I recommend this book Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
What a great story! There's such great chemistry between Jessa and the guys. Sam and Drew are great guys and getting to know Max is awesome you can just tell they all belong together. Can't wait for book 2!
This book is a little confusing. First off, it’s not a RH book as marketed. It’s not even a ménage, it’s just a plain MF. It also starts like it’s the second book in a series, not the first. Things aren’t explained, they’re assumed. The ménage isn’t even formed, and when the issue is raised, it has the option to develop more, but it returns to MF. There’s also no development of feelings from Max, really from anyone. He shows interest but from what I can see, it isn’t reciprocated. I also kind of hate these kind of serial style books. I feel not much happens and the pacing is off because they’re meant to be read in a binge, rather than one at a time. I’m torn if I will continue with this series. I might pick it up once it’s completed, but it’s not a series I am champing at the bit for.
This book ends on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to be upset with how it ends. That's how I felt. I was so invested in these characters I didn't notice that I was coming to the end until I saw those dreaded words....TO BE CONTINUED. And it didn't leave at a nice and happy place. Oh no, Serena just had to cut us off when it felt like Jessa's life was ending before it started. Dramatic? Probably, but you'll have to read it yourself to find out if I'm right.
Jessa loves Sam. Everyone knows this. Heck, everyone can see it. And Drew? Well, his love is there for Jessa too. Just not something many people think is appropriate. It's why they hide it, even from Jessa. But Jessa isn't stupid. Max. Max is who sets things into motion. Inadvertently of course.
I absolutely loved this book. From the moment I started reading, I was hooked. Hook, line, sinker. It wasn't like anything I'd read from this genre before. I think that has to do with the fact that Jessa is in a committed relationship (and has been for the past two years) with only one guy but knows she (and Drew) feels something more for another. Possibly even two more. It was refreshing and curious to see how this played out.
While we see a lot of the dynamic of how the relationship works, there are still surprises to be held. By the time you get to the end of the book, not much has happened in way of reverse harem,. But it is definitely coming. And I can't wait.
There is some steam in this book, but not nearly as much as I would have liked to see.
Overall, it is a fantastic read and I recommend you to pick it up and give it a shot.
Things are not always what they seem. Jessa and Sam have been a couple for almost 2 years. But you never see Jessa, and Sam without Drew. Many speculate what goes on in this little group. They would be surprised that nothing has, though a whole lot of feelings are being repressed. You see, Jessa love Sam and Drew, Sam loves Jessa, and... Drew. Drew, well Drew loves Jessa and Sam. Can this tight-knit group who won't admit their feelings have enough room for Max? The new kid in town, who seems like the perfect fit. 🌸 This book is mostly MF, there are MM, undertones towards the end, and it isn't an RH either. It is complicatedly simple. 🌸 This book was mostly about everyone's relationships and daily interactions. Some drama happens, because what is life without drama, but it is not angsty, heartbreaking, or nail-biting. 🌸 I absolutely adore Jessa. I love love love her. She is the center of this group. While there are feelings for other members, it is Jessa who keeps them together. Jessa who heals them, loves them, protects them, and in turn, they do the same for her and for the others. These guys are such amazing guys. They even admit that they have been changed for the better because of Jessa. Can I give a shout out that this book also brings awareness to diabetes! ooh, I can! SHOUT OUT TO AWARENESS TO DIABETES! 🌸 This book definitely sets is up for the next in the series. You are left with a bit of a cliff hanger, with hints of much more drama to come. 🌸 While this book lays the foundation to explore, MF, MM, MFM, MMF, MMMF, MMFM, and any other versions of that, I wish it had a bit more explorations to Jessa and Drew, and Jessa and Max. Even when some feelings are admitted, it is was still more of a Jessa and Sam show. 🌸 I can NOT wait to see who these relationships develop. I can NOT wait to see how this group forms, and the exact type that it forms. But mostly, I just want Max to know that he found his people and that they love him. 🌸
Serena Akeroyd how could you leave this book like that? I love how Jessa takes a young man who she knows nothing about and brings him into her small group. Max has no idea how he got so lucky to be accepted anywhere or by anyone at his new high school, instead he finds himself in with Jessa b, Sam and Drew. Had he just been an outsider the whole school would have ignored him, but he also gets to see the bond between them and craves what they have to be part of them. He can see the love they have for each other,as unconventional as it is, but he wants to be part of them. Sam and Brady have their own bond they hide from the world and absolutely love Jessa for who she is and all her quirks. It will be interesting to see how Serena plays this out and how they become a unique group of friends, especially how she ended with such a cliffhanger! Serena Akeroyd you have really done it again amazing me with your writing and the style, bringing a YA novel out that matches anything you write for adults. Bravo!
Oh my god what happened to Drew? I knew something was wrong from the moment he took the first pill! I love Jessa she is so sweet, nice, protective, smart, caring, and has a little bit of a wicked side. I just love her. I love Sam and Drew and Max. This book is so different. Max is the one being integrated into the rich society instead of the girl and Max is the one being integrated into a reverse harem instead of the girl. I just love that factor of it. Drew is so funny and witty. Sam is so protective just like Drew and Max but he’s also very caring. This book is so funny, different, and has all different types of characters. The characters are so unique and they fit together somehow. Serena did amazing with the characters and their personalities. Plus all the guys like Sam, Drew, and Max are hot. I love her imagination. Serena Akeroyd you totally blew me away with this book, I love it! Serena Akeroyd you rock!

Leaving this review after my second time reading in preparation for the next installment. The first time I read this I was sucked into the story and the ending came far too quickly and I couldn’t wait for the next one. This time I enjoyed it just as much and once again it was over far too quickly.
This doesn’t start and dive straight into a RH like a lot of books out there instead we’re getting to see the beginning of that relationship. Jessa loves her boyfriend Sam and their best friend Drew but what I love about this book is that the boys love each other too. Then introduce new boy Max and I can’t wait to see where this is going. All the characters are believable as are their emotions and interactions.
This is a certainly a story with great writing and I really like how each chapter has multiple POVs rather than just one. So glad book 2 is here, off to read it now.
I loved this YA RH novel. It had the perfect blend of high school and maturity to keep me interested all the way through. The FMC is very cool, she has a steady boyfriend but also loves the best friend and wait there's more..the new guy is also coming into the fold. This foursome has what I would call a soul deep connection in the fact that they have such a deep and mature relationship. The banter is kinda like an old married couple but with three people and the new guy (max) is just becoming comfortable to open up to their little family. It's a super easy read, I would recommend to any romance lover.
Dare You To love Me is a contemporary RH high school romance. It has the family issues and bullies but at it’s heart are beautiful, tender relationships. I was blown away by how fleshed our the characters felt. I found myself swooning and laughing along with them. The premise is also so unique in the RH market right now as it examines a new guy as he gets to know a girl, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend’s best friend. The relationship dynamics in some ways reminded me of Jo Raven’s Broken Compass. I would definitely recommend this book and can’t wait for the second!
There were some good lines in this book. It kept me reading until the end, but there were some parts that needed work. I don’t think the author knows what Peon means. I also don’t think she knows anything about football. And I also wondered where the plot was. Nothing really happened. And he fact that Jessa was a major Pollyanna annoyed me. Idk. I expected some sort of resolution and not be carried on to another book that isn’t even out yet. The end felt like the middle to me. Ending it here felt like a ploy to get me to continue reading the next book. Didn’t work.
That it's over!! I need more. I'm in love with Jessa, Max, Sam and Drew. This book has it all, real deal love, epic friendship, and evil high school teenagers. I want and demand the next book be released now (said in a deep and ominous voice). Pretty please Serena (said in a cutesy voice with big doe eyes and a lip quiver). All right you win Serena I impatiently wait for the next book but reading everything else you wrote. Your dastardly plan worked you wonderfully evil woman.
I picked this up as a stopgap while I wait for the next book in another series to be released. I have read most of Serena's other books and enjoyed them so thought it would be good. It was great!
I loved the sweetness of Jessa who felt real not cloying. I loved the boys. I loved the way you found things out as you went along rather than had huge explanations dumped on you at the beginning.
It was really good, actually even worth 4 stars but I was unhappy with the plot arc. In my opinion it did not have a plot line at all. Now while I am usually fine with that as long as there is character and/or relationship development, this time it did not help. When finally something happened, it ended in a cliffhanger. I will definitely read the next one in the series but I have a feeling that this book would have been better as a big standalone instead of a series. We will see if I am right.
The dynamic between Jessa, Drew, and Sam is so captivating. They're young, so watching them figure themselves out was a true pleasure. I longed for them to just pluck up the courage to talk to each other! But, in true teenage fashion, they made me wait for it. When Max comes onto the scene and the relationships shifts to add him to the group, I just loved it. Jessa's heart is so big and it's amazing to watch her grow!
This is the most realistic, sweetest YA book I've read to date. You are in for a real treat with Jessa and her boys. Highschool can be a real b... especially with a group of Sarah's. But when you find that special someone or in this case someones.... The Sarah's of the world can't touch you. Young love, finding yourself and accepting the ones you love unconditionally? That is special all in itself.
Serena writes such beautiful love stories. To me the quality of her writing is a lot like Elizabeth Lowell in the early years. Such a easy flow of the story that the reader is never jarred out of it. The romance is in each sentence and the feelings it invokes makes me want more of her stories. Loved it and that all that really matters.
Okay, I am pretty new to the RH world, but this book hooked me from the beginning. The love and compassion that these 3 now 4 have for each other has you cheering them on. The ending was a kick to the butt and of course, I am anxiously awaiting the next book.
Is a must read the relationship between drew Sam a Jessa + new boy max is off to a great start can’t wait to see how max fits in more is he looking to have a relationship with jessa or drew and Sam as well . leaving readers on a cliffhanger has got me begging for more .
This HawkRidge High Crew will have you all in your feelings... Be prepared to go on the journey with them. The angst, the love the uncertainty... The only thing they know is the future they want. How they’re going to navigate from point A to point B seems like a minefield they’re unprepared to cross...
I love the book but good lord....my inner Football fan cringes every time the author mentions Sam’s position is a Tight End. Anyone who actually watches American Football knows that a Tight End is an Offensive Position. They’re tall, maybe a bit lanky, but all lean muscles, which is ideal for the role they play - google Jimmy Graham. The position that best describes Sam is Defensive End - google JJ Watt.
I love the four main characters, and their relationship. It is interesting and unique. There is the addition of outside angst added to the mix to amp the excitement, but the main focus is the sweet romance. I did not like the abrupt cliffie. Too much felt unfinished and awkward but I liked the rest enough to only take off half a star.
I absolutely adore Jessa and her guys. They all make the perfect match a bit of difference in each that all mold perfectly Into one unified group. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series! Thank you for another amazing read
