WOW!!! Sinful Crime is the fifth book in the Hangman Series and has no means of losing any strength by its location in this series. Talk about switching pitchers during the long stretch!!! Not that Jo and Jake have enough problems as it is, now they have a copy cat to deal with. Jake is back at the department as an advisor and hoping for a future with Jo that out of reach. It's time for Jake and Jo to come to terms with their feelings and clear the air on their working and personal relationship. They are better as partners than alone and make one hell of a team. While Jake and Jo are trying to figure how the copy cat has privileged information on the Hangman and his crimes Dannie is coming to some hard realizations about her "boyfriend". Kyle continues his destructive behavior with drugs and psychotic plans and refusing to leave with his father, which is missing. Secrets are revealed, plots are made and tension runs high but now there are two killers to catch. Just when things start to go right with Jake and Jo the Hangman strikes again....but so does the copy cat. With officers down, one dead pieces start to fall into place. Who will be the next to go down??? Your guess is as good as mine but with the last victim in the Hangman crosshairs anything is possible. With this series coming to its conclusion I'm torn between justice and lost justice for the Hangman and I'm going to hate to see The End. Absolutely riveting and will keep you on the edge of your seat chewing your nails for answers. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Already purchased Eternal Crime and can't wait!!!!
Gosh! I just love the high right before the end in a thriller!
The Hangman is nearing his goal, and he's not entertaining any blockades in his path. Jo & Jake are getting closer and closer to each other, but is the timing of their new closeness off?
This book moves a bit slower than the rest. We see more of the Young family's dynamics, as everything begins to come full circle. Kyle descends deeper into lunacy while his dad turns a blind eye, hoping that things work themselves out as they did before, using his money. Jo is conflicted about her feelings for her estranged family members. She is torn between hate, disgust, indifference, sorrow, and her strong desire to help bring them to justice.
Jake still sticks to his guns. Irascible, yet always doing the right thing, he's trying to stay one step ahead of everyone.
I love the way that W.L. Knightly wrapped me up in the story; it was truly an exciting ride. Even at the last page, I was still trying to scroll right, looking for a glimpse into what would be happening next! With lives hanging in the balance at the end of this installment, I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion in Eternal Crime.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
Exciting Spoiler of volume 4 It's a good episode, maybe a bit slower than the others, that keeps the riddle and the suspense, but is more of a transition between the serial killer crusade and the development of Kyle's madness, which create new reversals because the half-brother of Jo, Kyle, the murderer of the family of the Hangman, plays the copycat to eliminate those who disturb him, bogging the investigation in nonsense because the hangman denies his implication. Kyle killed Kendra's husband to pick her up, imitating the Hangman, but when she found him, she confessed to never wanting him and she fled his madness. Jo blames herself for betraying even momentarily Jake to help her father, not to mention that Jake is fully aware and it is hard to forgive this betrayal of the one who continues to attract him. However, slowly, they come back to talk to each other and to be able to work together. The end of this part is quite surprising in what happens to the main characters, knowing there is another tome. I am reviewing this Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is the fifth book in the Hangman Series by the author W.L. Knightly [aka Ali Parker and Lexy Timms] and it is, yet again, another 'corker'of a book and one that you will not be able to put down as you just dare not do so! There is a new killer in town and this person wants the Hangman to take the 'credit'! SO retired detective Jack is back on the case with his old partner Jo. Written with suspense in bucketfuls this easy to read thriller will keep you sitting on the edge of your seats as the storyline unfolds. Jo and Jack are getting on better and many secrets are revealed in this episode. Whilst they are trying to discover if there really is a copycat, there is another murder. So who on earth is doing it this time? Someone is still missing and not everyone is being helpful. I'm really looking forward to the next book! I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended
Wow what an amazing book. This is the 5th book in the Hangman series So much happened in this book that it kept my interest throughout. Just when you think Jo and Jake have enough on their plate with the search for the wherabouts of the Hangman, they are dealt with a doozy with the introduction of a copy cat. Jo’s father goes missing and she is worried about him. Jo and Jake relationship moves forward. The book ends on such a cliffhanger that you want to read the next and final book straight away. The wait for the next book will be hard. Cant wait to get my hands on the next book where hopefully the Hangman will be captured. The question that is lingering in my mind is that whether Jo’s brother will meet his end before he is captured or will he get his comeuppance before. I received an ARC from the author. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
I’m still not sure whether or not I want to see The Hangman caught before he’s completed his mission. Though his threats against Jo make it a little easier to choose. Jake Thomas is a man caught in the middle of a mess that just keeps getting bigger, with no easy way through. I both love and hate when a book leaves me speechless at the end of it. It means that I was so caught up in the story that I’m still processing, but it also means that I don’t know how to explain what the story has just put me through. I have no idea what’s going to come next in this series and I can’t wait to see what does. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Just when you’d think they were running out of story, this comes along. There is now a copycat and Jack and Jo will have to discover who is working against them. They also have personal issues to work out but crime keeps getting in the way. Great characters and a page-turning story that just keeps getting more complicated as they go. You’ll be on the edge of your seat. This is book 5. Do read them in order and you’ll have a great binge read. Can’t believe we still don’t have a resolution and I’m not complaining. I like a suspense that has a suspenseful story line and this author duo can certainly deliver. Eagerly awaiting the next book. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Fantastic instalment to a gripping series... I’m enjoying this series so much. I love the dynamic between Jake & Jo is very complex and although it’s evident that they both want to have a relationship outside of work it’s still very unclear if that will be possible. Tracking the hangman is proving pretty tough, however the complications Jo’s shady father and step brother throw in the mix is not helping the case at all (much to her embarrassment and annoyance). I was lucky to receive an advanced readers copy of this book and my review is voluntary and honest. Who knows what will happen now when Jo’s father has paid the ultimate price for his past sins. I can’t wait for the next book!
I couldn’t stop turning the pages until I came to the end. It was disappointing when I came to the realisation there were no more pages to turn. I wanted more and I’m not sure which side I want to see find Kyle first, Jake, Madden or the FBI.
This series has been totally unpredictable and there are so many twists and turns to keep you intrigued and wanting answers. It would appear that we are running out of corrupt hierarchy and things are about to be given one hell of a shake up as we near the end of the series.
Holy cow. This is getting good. Book 5 in the series and you have to read in order
When Jake and Jo realize they have a copy cat killer on their hands they now have more crime to solve and also know the only two people left on the hitmans list are the Senator and his son who just so happen to be Jo's father and brother. When the hitman strikes again how will Jo handle it and who is hit next? Jake also finally admits his feelings for Jo and knows now is not the time but he has to let her know, will she finally admit them back?
I really enjoyed reading this book! The books are getting better and better! I can't wait to read the last book in this series! I don't know why, but I am ready for Kyle, the brother of one of the Detectives, to get caught. He is such an EVIL man! I kinda understand why the Hangman feels what he is doing is right, but Kyle is Truly SICK! This is definitely a book everyone will enjoy reading! I feel you have to read the other books in this series in order so that you can follow along correctly. I definitely recommend this book/series to everyone!
If I've said it once I've said it in every review of this series, I am in awe of the authors' ability to craft story lines that twist and turn and make you think you're about to get some answers or actually do get some answers a spanner gets thrown in the works and the story takes a sharp turn that you were assuredly not expecting. The plot arcs so well throughout the series and I am looking forward to seeing how things pan out. The characters growth and development is well done and I have loved taking this journey with them. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
The plot thickens even more in this one! Again, I devoured it in one sitting! Jake and Jo really have a lot on their hands with the Hangman, copycat and corruption. They also can’t ignore the attraction between them! This series continues with intrigue and lots of twist and turns to keep your attention until the last page. I can’t wait for the final part to see how it will all turn out. But at the same time, I don’t want this series to end!
Jake and Jo are trying to find the Hangman but now the Copy Cat is making it harder. With Jake making his feels for Jo more apparent he has to try and keep his head clear as there are more twists and turns. Also with only two more people that the Hangman wants and they are Jo’s family, how will she keep a clear head? Will it all will out? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Sinful Crime! #5! Things are coming together-or are they? With the copycat killer wreaking havoc on their already intricately involved case, the twists keep coming when the Hangman strikes again! The heated and heartfelt connection between Detective Jo and Jake comes to the point of admittance, what will that mean for them? Will this impact the ever-evolving case? This story has intrigued, surprised, and had my brain on overdrive since the very start- I cannot wait for the conclusion!
Really good episode in this series. Starting to hope that the Hangman completes his mission and gets away with Missy. I know he has committed some heinous crimes but his victims surely deserved some kind of punishment. Kyle and Michael are truly despicable. The ending is as always a miserable cliffhanger but I can't wait for more. Bring it on! Great series but please read from the beginning.
I wish I could give a more precise rating because this book doesn't deserve a four but it's not great enough to be a five. The plot was good but editing is sub par. There were many times when the wrong word was used, point of view changed in the middle of a chapter, and there was even a spot in the book that had an unfinished paragraph with no punctuation. However, I really enjoy this series and am excited to read the final book.
The Hangman is hiding and even if the Spokane PD knows his identity, they still need to catch him. The detectives are trying to close in on him, but it looks like with every step they make forward, the killer is two steps ahead. Some people get involved in the investigation unnecessarily and this could only lead to them getting caught in middle and potentially get hurt…
I am so invested in this story now, can’t wait to read the last book in the series!
I love it when a plan come together, everything is starting to fall into place. The plot thickens and it is realised that there is a copycat and Jo and Jake work together to find out who it is. Things become better between the 2 of them and then there is another murder. I can see the last book in the series is going to be explosive and I can’t wait to read it.
This series keeps you intrigued and trying to figure out what will happen next. Another killing but this time things are different. Jake and Jo know they have a copycat killer and two more people on the hangman's list. I can not wait for the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
We are almost at the end of this series, but things are still not clear. This book as the previous ones is very good and the story is very fluent. I like it a lot and can’t wait to read the final book! The style and the writing are as always very good; it is a pleasure to read books by W.L. Knightly!
OMG!! I love this series! This is the 5th book and I'm still excited by this story. This book reached a point where everything is coming to a head. So much suspense, action, and a slow burn romance it just keeps me coming back for more. Awesome storytelling! I definitely recommend the series because you really have to start with book one. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This exciting series keeps on giving more murders for Jake and Jo to solve, digest other clues that do not meet the method of execution and missing persons of interest. So many diversions in this book and misdirection to keep you reading and turn each page in anticipation. I for one can not wait for the final book to be released. W.L Knightly is n excellent story teller!
This is a great story, very well thought out plot but for God's sake could someone please do some editing! The typos and other glaring errors are very distracting to the story - I had to read several things multiple t times to figure out what the author was trying to say.
I love jo and jake and how they work together there a great team this killer is really getting his hits . P.s. copycat hangman killer on the loose I'm not saying who but that really surprised me I absolutely love these books and I'll be sad when I finish the series. It's true you really do get attached to the characters of a Book because I do.
FRANTIC & GRIPPING!👍👍👍👍👍 Sinful Crime is no exception from the the rest of this series I can't get enough of it and it always leaves me shaken wanting more. Impacting explosive twists, adrenaline overload, exciting chemistry and impossible to put down.
No consistent editing of typos. More gore and sex. An X-rated soap opera with five books of cliffhangers to keep the reader hooked until that June 27th book six makes its debut and mercifully ends the tale.
Jake and Jo are getting closer to the Hangman and hopefully the Hangman gets Kyle before Jake, Kyle deserves what coming to him. Well done WL Knightly, thoroughly enjoying these books!
Wow... another fab book in the series :-) They just keep getting better and better! Can’t wait for the next one... eekkk! Great series so far and highly recommended
