I read the blurb on amazon, thought yep this sounds like the kind of book I’ll enjoy and much to my pleasure it was great. It got the balance of giving enough backstory with throwing too much information at the reader.
Great start to a series. I’m off to pick the next instalment up now.
This is an okay read, but light on context and grounding. We know some of Rand's history but nothing of relevance to his position as an exorcist. There's no significance as to why this ward\ hospital. I have a lot of unanswered questions.
This is my first time reading a story by this author - but it won't be my last. The first half of the book is like the initial slow climb of a roller coaster. But the second half takes off down the rails with all the thrills and chills one would expect to experience. You can't help but root for the 'Ghost Man' as he battles the forces of evil. He is just an everyday guy trying to help those in need of his talents. And the ending definitely left me wanting to read more stories about Rand and his nemesis. 👹
Typos / Grammatical Errors / Missing Words: A few missing words and one comment being attributed to the wrong character. Hence my 4 out of 5 stars rating. Bad Language: F-Bomb (But, to be expected from an evil entity). 😉 Gore/Violence: Minimal (PG) Romance/Sex: Nothing explicit (PG). Mostly alluded too.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good vs evil story that is suspenseful enough to keep a person reading "just one more chapter."
I think this was a great book. I loved the characters, the book had great suspense, it was a great thriller novel and the ending was awesome! The only thing that I didn’t like was it lagged in the beginning part for me so it took me longer to read than normally. Once I got further into the book it had me hooked and I had to keep reading cause I needed to know what was going to happen all the way to the end. I’m so glad I didn’t just disregard it because it really is a great book but I had to give it a four star due to the lag part 😔. The suspense part in this book was awesome. There were parts in the book that I was reading late at night with all the lights out and everyone asleep and it creeped me out 😰😮😵 actually that lasted until the end of the book to be real honest. I would definitely recommend this to all thriller and suspense readers you will enjoy this book 📖.
The Tenth Ward, the first novel in the Randolph Casey Horror Thrillers, is a great start to what will surely be an incredible series. Randolph Casey, known as Rand to his friends, is a university professor – well this is the job that pays him. In his free time, he is a paranormal investigator. When desperate parents ask him to help their terminally ill daughter, Georgia, who is visited by a ghost, how can he refuse. What he thought might be a simple haunting is worse…. much, much worse. Rand will have to uncover the threat and try very hard to rid the hospital of the evil that resides there. This is my first read by this author and I found it to be quite a good paranormal thriller with interesting characters. I would definitely read the next book in this series.
This was one of the best works of fiction that I have read in a long time, The Tenth Ward was a chilling and great genre of horror, This book stayed on my mind and I looked forward to reading each time until I finished it, Thank you Randolph Casey , and I look forward to reading The Perfect Possession!

Rand Casey battles demons and evil spirits and whatever hell-spawned creatures torment people who come to him seeking help. A religious studies professor whose focus is the paranormal, Rand fights the good fight. When a dying girl (Georgia) is tormented by a ghost, he is asked to help. But then, the "ghost" turns out to be oh-so-much more, he finds himself in the fight of his life. I highly recommend THE TENTH WARD. It's a horror novel that depends on strong characters and compelling situations without buckets of blood and bushels of gore. Read this in one day can't wait to read book 2 to see how he beats the demons and gets life back on track!
This was one of the scariest books I've ever read. So scary in fact that I am sleeping with the dang light on tonight! Georgia is being haunted by her bestie Thomas, but her parents are worried. They ask Rand, the ghost man, to come check it out. It's not a ghost that is waking Georgia up every night. No, it is something terrifying! The book is well written and completely submerged me into the characters lives. I'm not kidding when I say this book scared the hell out of me!
The Tenth Ward is one book by Rockwell Scott that I totally enjoyed. Again, the reason I love Rockwell Scott's books is because of his unique ability to create the supernatural powers connected with other twists in his writing. I would say the Tenth Ward is a powerful story about demons, religion, love, healing, and the incredible supernatural powers to transform from one world to the other that the characters had in the book also. I would recommend this as another good read if you love ghosts and supernatural stories.
I enjoyed this book so much that I ended up staying up way too late to finish reading it all in one night lol. The characters were great and the ambience was perfect. The setting of a hospital is just so ideal for a ghost story since it makes sense that lost souls, and even demons, could be hiding on the floors and interacting with the souls living and working there. I definitely recommend reading this book if you enjoy haunted hospital stories with good characters!
I also liked all of the characters, which is unusual, bc they were believable. Although a lot of people sure have no problem telling dude how skeptic they are or have an instant dislike of hi. But who knows maybe that's how some people react to demon hunting people., ghost men. Definitely had scary parts and I liked it for sure but def didn't scare the shit out of me like hell house
This book was like a breath of fresh air. It was the perfect combination of the supernatural and human struggles. What makes Rand amazing is his humanity and that he is just a normal guy with a great heart that compels him to help fight the battle against evil. I hope this is the start of a long series because I’m hooked already!!!!!!
I am a fan of supernatural thrillers, and I really enjoyed reading The Tenth Ward. The characters were compelling, the story was well thought out, and although I figured out the twist early on, seeing the characters grapple with evil from the beyond really worked. I look forward to reading more Randolph Casey novel in the future.
I'm captivated by possessions and Haunting I just can't seem to get enough, this was so good, I loved the story line, the characters and just everything. Poor little Georgia she is Terminally ill with CF and if that's not enough she's seeing he recently departed friend can things get any worse? A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
This ghostly story was fantastic! Right from the start of gripped me and I couldn't put it down. Lost some sleep with this one. The characters were great and I loved the story line. This is an author I'll be reading more of. Especially the Randolph Casey series!
I absolutely loved this, I airways had a hard time putting it down. It was amazing and scary and intelligent all at the same time. I was really surprised what an easy read this was. It was Lurlene McDaniel meets the devil at it's finest! I can't wait to read the second book.
This wasn't as scary as I was hoping. I enjoyed it enough to buy the second book in the series. I grew up reading and watching horror so it's hard to find anything that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Randolph Casey is a character I definitely want to keep reading about and see where his next case takes him.
Highly enjoyable haunting/demonic possession novel. Ongoing action on every page and deeply relatable characters. Yes, okay, there's nothing terribly original here; novels on this topic typically aren't very original because there are only so many ways in which these events can occur. But that didn't spoil my enjoyment at all. I will definitely read the second book in the series.
My sister recommended this book to me and I'm so glad that she did! I loved it! Truly masterful storytelling. Rockwell Scott created characters that you will cheer for and a story that will have you staying up until the early morning to find out what happens next. If I could give it ten stars, I would.
Nothing better than a great ghost or demon for my horror and this book didn't disappoint.😈 Great protagonist and supporting characters along with scary demon. Looking forward to the next in the Rand Casey series!😊
Wow I started this book later in the evening and was up until 3 am. Definitely a page turner. I enjoyed the various characters who all were likeable. Georgia was a bit annoying at times but I kept in mind her age and situation. Other than that it was a great read
I really enjoyed reading about Randolph Casey ,paranormal lecturer and part time 'ghost man' .It was a interesting storyline and likeable characters and I can't wait to see what happens next
I really enjoyed this book. Great character development and great characters. Totally hooked me right from the start and didn'tletgo. Really looking forward to the next book.
I liked this book. The author did a great job putting you right there with the characters in the story. Not as scary as I thought it was going to be. It also didn’t have all the gore that a lot of books have.
What can I say this was a super excellent mystery thriller, this is the second book by Rockwell Scott that I have rea He is a fantastic writer.d Be sure a d add this boo, to your book list
Likeable characters and interesting story. It's very catholic (or just christian idk) kinda like Conjuring series. So all ghost problems can only be solved by christian prayer which gets kinda same-y but I'll keep reading the series anyway.
Great story, very entertaining and enjoyable, if you like this kind of stories there is. It's been a long time since I'd read a good exorcism story. Finished this one in one day, grabbed me from the start.
Boy was I really surprised. This book was actually believable, and even funny at times. I got caught up in liking the characters without being bored. Can't wait to read book 2.
