Masamune's jealousy pissed me off a little bit, I don't know why I didn't find it cute, but maybe because it's obvious he's not in his proper place—he's just becoming too possessive. If that goes on, he'd be another toxic character. But yea, all's well that ends well. I love the confession in the end!

I just remembered, all regular and standard shoujos had that different take on Cinderella plays, no? It just made me laugh when it crossed my mind.

his jealously is too neurotic for me. tbh i'm not getting doki dokis at the moments i should be.

as usual, crossdressing café for the save. also, i've seen a lot of people getting annoyed whenever she's called small and thin. like, wasn't that the point. it's where her insecurity comes from and if no one else notices it but her then that makes it seem as though it's all in her head. and i'm lowkey done with daft ya protagonists calling themselves plain when they're the only one that doesn't think they're "gorgeous."

for realsies, volume 2 is too soon for a "i love you". what are we gonna do for the next 11 volumes?

100/5 STARS WOW!!!!!!!!

All my doubts about this series are GONE after reading this amazing amazing amazing volume. WOWOWOWWOWOWOWOWOW.

Unlike most Shoujo Mangas, the leads here actually ✨ COMMUNICATE ✨ . They don't beat around the bush and actually tell what they think to each other! Something that is hard to be seen at most Shojo mangas. I have nothing but high hopes for this manga and I honestly hope it keeps it's momentum going forward. Just wow. Also forget what I said about the pacing problems, I found last volume, EVERY chapter in this volume was PURE GOLD AND DOKIDOKI. Anyway, ONWARDS TO VOLUME 3!

Rough first half saved by a strong second half.

The first arc was about the boy's jealousy, which was childish, then devolved into possessiveness, which was creepy. No matter how many times I encounter this trope in shoujo, I simply don't understand how possessiveness is romantic or sexy. You can almost skip the first half and not miss anything. The second half involved Koeda's play. It was a fun arc, and it ended well. Koeda as Cinderella was adorable, and the supporting cast made the arc work well. I like seeing Koeda grow as a character.

This is quickly becoming a favorite.

It’s still summer vacation, but Masamune and Koeda haven’t seen each other since the festival. When they see each other at school (not sure why they’re there if it’s still vacation). He says he wants to go somewhere with her again and suggests going to the ocean in their school uniforms. When some of the other girls ask what they are talking about, Masamune tells them it’s a secret; obviously, he wants to spend time with Koeda, not all the other girls. He takes her and her friend, En-chan, along with Take to the ocean nearby, Koeda didn’t even realize there was a spot like this so near the school.

While there, jealousy starts to flare up, starting when Hagiwara-San shows up as well, claiming she was specially invited. (Later, we find out Take was the one who invited her) Playing around, Masumune drops her into the ocean. Since she is all wet, she becomes self-conscious and hides while she dries. We see Hagiwara-San encouraging him to leave her alone. Later, Take finally finds her, and we find out they’ve been looking for her everywhere. Then, when Masamune sees them together laughing, he gets irritated and slaps Take with kelp. He asks her why she didn’t stay where he could see her. It’s clear he was worried, and he seems upset, but Koeda isn’t sure why he’s upset.
Things work out so that Koeda and Masumune go to the school together alone so she can get some clothes. While there, she asks him why he got upset. He tells her it’s because he was hungry, but then he backtracks. He says he lied, it’s because she showed her pretty face to someone else besides him. Then he abruptly says he’s going home, gets up, and leaves even when she tries to stop him.

The next day, she runs into Take at the store and finds out Masamune is at home sick with a fever. He’s going to visit him, and Koeda decides to go with him. When she arrives, she’s unsure if she should have come, but he invites her in for something cold to drink. She volunteers to cook him something, since he’s hungry and not feeling well. She insists he go rest while she makes rice porridge. (Right before my husband and I got together, he got sick, and I did the same thing, but I just made him rice.) Before he goes to lie down, he notices Take helping her, and sends him on an errand to go get ice cream. He does not like those two being friendly. Koeda is wondering why Masamune is acting so weird.

When she brings it up to him, he gets her to feed him; it’s cute, and of course, he likes her food. She tells him she’s never cooked for a boy before, and he gets excited because he’s the first. He says he’s really glad. She then starts asking him about why he’s been acting so weird, and starts to bring up what he said in the classroom about her showing her pretty face to others, but then her stomach growls. He tries to feed her, but she refuses. Shortly after, he falls back to sleep.

Soon, Take is back, and he brought friends. When Masamune wakes up and finds her serving the other boys food, he is not happy. When Koeda offers him ice cream, he says he’s going to sleep. She follows him to his room, and he asks her why she cooked for the other guys. He tells her that if she had cooked too much, she should have told him, and he would have eaten it all.

She asks him what all of this means, that he’s been so weird since yesterday, and she hasn’t been able to keep her mind off of him because of it. He says he doesn’t understand it either, but he doesn’t want anybody to know things like she’s good at cooking or how she smiles. He wants to be the only one who knows all those things. Then he falls back to sleep before she can find out more.
Koeda’s class is putting on the play Cinderella for the festival, and she’s been cast as the star, to her chagrin.

Masamune catches up with her after school and takes her out for tea. They share each other's drinks, and then she opens up about how she’s worried about being Cinderella since she’s so tiny. He encourages her and helps her feel less self-conscious about. She even comes up with a new title, Miniderella. She tells him she thinks she can do it if he’s watching her. After, when they leave, he gives her a charm from the tea shop. It was only available to couples, which means he told the barista that they were a couple. He tells her it’s a good luck charm. She then tells him, after the play, that she wants to tell him something. He says he’ll be waiting.

Koeda does really well in the play. Everyone seems impressed. Masamune comes to watch and ends up getting pushed to the front. At one point in the play, she drops the slipper in front of him, and she ad-libs their interaction. It ends up being pretty meta as she talks about the prince; it sounds like she’s talking about Masamune.

Afterward, Masamune pulls her away to tell her how awesome the play was. He tells her that what she said when she dropped the slipper made him happy. He seemed like he could tell she was expressing her true feelings. Then he says they should get back because of the after-party. Then Koeda just says it; she tells him she loves him and that she always has. He pulls her into an embrace and says, “Don’t surprise me like that, that it isn’t fair”. Then he says he loves her too. It ends with her thinking that there was never a chance anyone would embrace someone like her.

All the typical cuteness of a shojo. One of the characters gets a fever of course! One of the nice things about this series is it shows the boy being nervous too, for some reason a lot of other mangas focus just on the girl.

I ate this volume up all very cute seriously. The confession at the end is top notch. I liked his jealous and his admission that he finds her cute. And he isn’t even giving that girl that likes him the time of day.

While I am not sure how times is passing I feel they are moving pretty fast. I do like it though, even if I am not a fan of instant-love.

Hmm, I don't think this one is for me. I needed them to let their feelings marinate a bit more. Volume 2 is way too early to be saying I love you.

I really enjoyed the first volume, but Masamune is kinda annoying me not gonna lie. He is being very possessive and jealous, but he doesn't recognize it as a bad thing. Instead he voices that he doesn't like her showing her good side to people. She already struggles with self confidence a good love interest would want her to thrive or at least feel bad about it.
