Step into another world in a transportive colouring book that knows no bounds.
Epic doodler Kerby Rosanes allows his wildest imaginings to come to life as he creates microcosms of strange realities with his own unique twist. Enchanting realms and entire universes are transported to strange and wonderful new habitats and a hidden magic key ‘unlocks’ the next world.
Viking ships set sail through the eyes of a skull, an open book has a steampunk city rising from its pages and a giant tortoise carries a haunted house on its shell – all for you to bring to life in colour.
Philippines-based illustrator Kerby Rosanes works mainly with ordinary black fine liners to magically illustrate his “doodle” world. Considers his art as a personal hobby which turned out to be his part-time freelance work after being recognized by various design blogs, international magazines and online art communities. Most of his works are characterized by whimsical lines, patterns, characters and little elements that are spontaneously combined to create massive compositions depicting his everyday inspirations or scenes from his quirky imagination.
I colored the 96 pages of this fantastic coloring book as a New Year’s resolution to replace my habit of doom scrolling on social media. Over the past couple months, this new habit of coloring these beautiful pictures has improved my mental health significantly. It is a habit I plant to continue, and I plan to check out more of this artist’s coloring books.
I feel like putting READ on this is a cheat as it’s a coloring book. His illustrations are spectacular and intricate. I’m scared to colour as to not mess up perfection.
This is the most fantastic coloring book I know, and I mean that in both definitions of the word: 1.: extraordinarily good/ attractive. 2.: imaginative/ fanciful; remote from reality. It usually takes me weeks to complete even one page, but then it makes a wonderful present; especially when appropriately framed!
This book of very detailed pictures to color is very much reminded me of magical realism; the pictures contain hidden meaning that you have to look for very closely. Once the pictures have been colored they can be given as gifts to friends and family. Kerby Rosanes is a talented artist who has a fine sense of imagination.
