OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

A trip to Iceland is quickly moving to the top of my list of places to travel, and this Lonely Planet guide provides comprehensive information and planning advice for trips of various lengths and budgets. The suggested itineraries are very useful. The many maps and colorful pictures make the guide a pleasure to browse, and I'm sure it will be referred to frequently as we lock down the details of our trip.

I felt it was very out of order. I would have preferred the book go in order around the ring road instead of jumping around. I knocked off a star- personal preference...

I chewed through a bunch of books prior to traveling to Iceland, this one was hands down the best of the bunch.
