Six books and over 1500+ pages of magic and mayhem, action and humor fill this snarky urban fantasy boxed set. Mythical creatures are real, and the world is just finding out.
Discovering that your neighbor was once an evil, blood-sucking fiend tends to bring property values down.
Katrina Darling’s only real friend has been murdered. And not just murdered—ritually sacrificed by a serial killer. Kat is sure more death will follow. She should know … she used to be the monster plunging the blade in.
Trouble is, after three hundred years of being a vampire, Kat has forgotten what it means to be human.
One thing she does remember is that friends matter.
Now she's determined to find whoever—or whatever—killed her friend before more victims surface. But just as the hunt begins, a mysterious young man discovers exactly what she was.
Kat has a decision to make: Run and keep her monstrous past hidden, or avenge her friend and save the city from a merciless serial killer.
I would not recommend this series to anyone with a sound mind because you will loose what soundness you m at have !!! I stuck with it because I have ocd, or cord a reading disorder, I am done now I will scream!!!
I quite enjoyed this series. The premise has an interesting and somewhat refreshing twist on the standard paranormal genre with an urban fantasy setting. The entire series was well done and I’m looking forward to continuing with the spin off books.
Thank the Gone Gods that I have finished this series. Why would you bench two of the best people in the book for jean? I don't plan on reading anything else from Ramy again!
I'm so impressed by these books! I only wish there were six more of them to read! I wish there were a glossary of all the Others in this series--Gods, monsters, demons, angels, werecreatures , vampires, strange creatures from many cultures and mythologies and so many more beings, plus the humans, all stranded on Earth after the abrupt departure of the Gods. Try to wrap your head around that! Then, " Fasten your seatbelts; It's going to be a bumpy ride!"
I devoured this series! Kat, Deirdre and Egya have become like family. This is such an original take on the whole urban fantasy genre that I can't think of anything to compare it too. The six books in the series so far roam in style from Agatha Christie murder mystery to full on god-facing action heroics. I recommend you buy this box set. And when you do, sit down, buckle up, and dive in. You can thank me later.
Over all the series was enjoyable to read, but in some areas was a little too much detail. The author's attitude towards people from the U.S. didn't go over too well with me. If you want to sell more books, I suggest you see where most of your books are sold!
What an interesting vampire not vampire story. The world has no God's left. It's a gone gods world and shifters are no longer shifters and vampires are no longer blood sucking evil vampires. It's a fun, quirky action packed tale. Very good series.
Love this series! Katrina Darling gives Buffy a run for her money. The world building, characters, twists, and family “reunions” makes for a great read. The box set lets you binge read- the way this series should be read!
This is my first experience with this author and I found the series to be thoroughly enjoyable. I was a little disappointed to find out that it wasn't finished though.
Fun characters in a world turned upside down when the gods disappear and mythical creatures from all the world's mythos populate the earth. A little disappointed with the open ending after six books, but still a fun read.
No story or character build-up. MC keeps repeating she is vampire turned human - sigh. I forces myself to read Book 1, skimmed a lot. That is an hour I won’t get back. I will not be finishing the series.
This was a fantastic series hindered by typos and errors that proofreads and editing should have caught. However, I did enjoy reading, despite being annoyed at the typos and errors.
TLDR: plot gets 5 stars, but because of typos and errors, giving 3 stars
These books were a real treat. They covered a plethora of legend, god, and scary monster there is. Loved the way legends were included within the story. Worth the time to read.
Was a very good series, however, it took awhile to get into. You have to get used to the way the writer tells the stories. Once you get to the middle of the first book everything kind of glides along.
I won’t use spoilers...but I didn’t see the end coming. Ha. This series is full of fun, snark and adventure. Love the dynamic between Jean and Kat. Well done, Mr Vance, well done .
What a deal!!! This is your chance to get a wonderful urban fantasy series at a really great price. I've read all six books and they are terrific, clever, and entertaining. Highly recommended.
Wow, what a superb collection of six books in one place to make your reading even more pleasurable. Once I started, I just kept on reading. Don’t miss out
So what happens when a three hundred year old vampire becomes human? You go back to college and try to make amends. With humour and smart alex rejoinders.
this author does very nicely what few authors in this genre excel at in this time. the characters are tangible beings without ridiculous needs to ramble in expletives and action scenes are works of art rather than gore and misery. these characters are both intimidating and friendable. awe inspiring and could be your next door neighbor, well, mostly. this author has a cast of characters from the Pantheon of legend and myth that astounds me. some of the characters could be someone you'd see at a café, others are brought alive from the pages of a book on obscure mythology. my applause to the author's creativity in bringing each one to life in a way that, despite their appearance or personality, you could be having breakfast and wouldn't be surprised if they sit across the table from you at the cafe. Ramy Vance seems to have written this for the ability of narrator Candace Thaxton. while I didn't want the narration to end because I enjoyed the story so much, I also didn't want the book to end because I enjoyed her narration so much I forgot I wasn't right there in the middle of the action. I'll be looking for more by both this author and this narrator. I listened to this on Audible.
This part of this particular multiverse is an entertaining premise for me. I am going through a rough patch in my life and even my lifeline can't decide how long I have left. Everything I do changes it. So I choose to read Mortality Bites. Following Kat's adventures gives me the distractions I need in this mortal life. I am hooked and even dream of myself in her world. On to the next read-for-free set.
