Review for Catching A Vampire - Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs #1 by Laura Greenwood
If you thought the classes at Hogwarts sounded amazing, then the classes at Grimalkin will blow your mind. Grimalkin is one academy, I personal would have loved to attended.
Daphne Chambers has a mission to find out how herself and her brother can find the family spell to turn themselves into cats. But this is not a simple task. With cute vampires in the mix, a best friend who’s a bit of a dud at magic and so much more, this story will capture your attention.
Catching A Vampire the first book in Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs, which is a slow burn reverse harem, paranormal academy story.
I loved this collaboration of PR and RH stories by my favorite authors. Each of these stories is unique, entertaining, and amazing glimpses into new worlds and stories full of adventure, danger, suspense, emotion and passion. If you love fantasy, paranormal romance & reverse harem you will love this collection. I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
The Soulhunter academy by Lj Swallow is an interesting take on the angle world I may have to add it too my long tbr pile because Ava sounds fierce. You train for 3 weeks to learn how to kill demons what could go wrong. A lot the answer is a lot.
Of curse and Covenant by Elena Lawson is amazing I love that we now know the story of who Harper's mom is, but the real question is what is she?? I hope Grainger and Harper can break the curse together and right the wrongs of the council.
Wolf boy's by Leah Mea Hall was an interesting take on academy with multiple supernatural. I may have add to my tbr pile again. Sexy wolf strippers with a millionaire daddy what more do I need to say oh and their into sharing.
The imdalind academy by Rebecca ethington is going to be a series to look out for. The suspense and all the twist have my mind spinning. I need to know what happens next. They get powers from a gremlin like creature and after the race toward possible death hunger games style and it just gets crazier from there.
Strange academy May Dawson is defiantly worth keeping and eye on. I can wait to see the mix of mates she's going to have Maddie Northsea is defiantly kick ass an snarky
Skyler Andra Life's a witch is a fun take on a more older academy style school for fighting unusual supernatural beings. If you like different you'll like this series. Astral and Pascal are on the spectrum for autism I love how they are represented I can't wait to see how the team bonds with their new mate after the loss of their best friend.
Catching a vampire Laura Greenwood the story has an interesting flow to it I like it and it will be on my series to watch list that's for sure. The brother and sister twin duo have a family spell that will turn them into cats the catch its lost. Where would it be besides secrete vampire archive tunnels. Maybe it should be called how to lose your vampire boyfriend after a week because he's betrothed hates you.
Full moon high Kat ParrishI high school for witches that don't know their powers sign me up u necromancy and the destruction of a grimoire twisted family secretes. What else could go wrong in the tiny town of stony port let's not forget It's a town for only witches.
Trials of magic K.N. Lee holy cow that was cool I don't want to spoil it but wow that will be worth checking into I've never read a witch story like that.
Witch craft is for weirdos Madison Stone a girl with some freaky unnatural powers in a school for the delinquent supernatural creatures what could go wrong??
The fiercest flame Ashley Nicole bye. They control fire how freaking amazing is that this was a fun read and a standalone novel.
Destroyed by magic Elena Grey & Kelli McCracken witch with the ability to travel between words has 5 gargoyles to babysit her. A werewolf, mage, and a human soulmate search for her best friends who go missing and she constantly in trouble. That's really what they need in a future Priestess.
Rising princess solo storm that's an interesting take on fairies That's quite a lot for one book. I have a feeling those to won't fight for the throne though more like fighting over who gets the last day in the politics.
Louder than words Angela Kulig Reincarnation is a big yes for me al though it not RH I love the soul mate reincarnation aspect of the book I'll have to look for these later I have a feeling their going to be good.
Soulhunter Academy - L.J. Swallow Of Curse & Covenant - Elena Lawson This was a interesting prequel and I will be watching for the rest of the series. Wolf Boys - Lena Mae Hill Imdalind Academy : Pre term - Rebecca Ethington Strange Academy - May Dawson Mystic Academy - Scarlett Haven Great story with amazing characters and storyline Life's a Witch - Guild of Guardians book 1 - Skyler Andra Really enjoyed this book and cant wait to read more of the series. Catching a Vampire - Laura Greenwood Love how we get to see Daphne's side of things after I read First Time's A Charm and I can not wait to read more. Full Moon High - Kat Parrish Trials of Magic - K.N. Lee Witchcraft is for Weirdos - Madison Stone The Fiercest Flame - Ashlee Nicole Bye Destroyed by Magic Elena Gray & Kelli McCracken Rising Princess - Solo Storm Louder than Worlds - Angela Kulig
If it is a collection, anthology or box set I am always buying them and hoping that I find new authors to read! This collection was bought because it had books by authors that I have read everything they have written, a few authors that I have read several of their books and several new to me authors. This set is full of academy stories full of witches, warlocks, shifters and other creatures that will keep you on the edge of your seat. My favorites of the set are Catching a Vampire and Life's a Witch.
*LJ SWALLOW - Soul Hunter Academy: This was an interesting storyline. I really enjoyed this story and would be interested in what comes next.
ELENA LAWSON - Of Curse and Covenant: I found this prequel interesting. It introduced the characters well and the background to the storyline to follow fully.
*LENA MAE HILL - Wolf Boys: This prequel sets the scene really well. This gives us clear background to the books due out shortly. I am excited to see where this story will lead.
REBECCA ETHINGTON - Imdalind Academy (Pre Term): This is a ok story. Introduces you to the world and characters well.
*MAY DAWSON - Strange Academy: I liked this story. The characters were interesting and the storyline was strong. I would be interested to see what comes next.
*SCARLETT HAVEN - Mystic Academy: I really loved this story. Amazing characters and a great storyline found me unable to stop reading.
*SKYLER ANDRA - Life’s a Witch: I really liked this story. Great characters and interesting storyline. I would be interested in reading more of this series.
*LAURA GREENWOOD - Catching A Vampire: I loved this story. The characters are strong and the story intriguing. I got to the end and was like ‘OMG, no’ so looking forward to book two.
*KAT PARRISH - Full Moon High: I really enjoyed this book and will look to read the others in the series.
KN LEE - Trials of Magic: Well this book did not quite end the way I thought it would! Definitely worth a read.
MADISON STONE - Witchcraft is for Weirdos: This was a good story to read. Different storyline from others and this made for interesting reading.
ASHLEE NICOLE BYE - The Fiercest Flame: I really enjoyed this story. Good characters and storyline.
ELENA GRAY & KELLI MCCRACKEN - Destroyed By Magic: This story was ok but it did not grab me.
SOLO STORM - Rising Princess: I was not too sure about this book. More the characters than the story.
ANGELA KULIG - Louder Than Words: I was not able to get into this book. Shame as the remainder of the series was amazing. I hope others enjoy this book more than me.
I pre-ordered this collection of stories so I got a Fantastic bargain! Wow 18 stories and there are some of my favorite authors (Laura Greenwood, Skyler and Lena Mae) in there and some newbys that I found refreshing and will be looking into their other books too. If you love everything Paranormal this book is for you. Recommended reading.
An extremely fun collection of stories. There are so many beginnings that I must continue after reading this. To Catch a Vampire is the first one that has me chomping at the bit to continue. Soulhunter Academy is another and I could keep going on and on. This was a great book and I read it faster than I thought I would because I was so caught up in the stories I couldn't put it down.
Really enjoyed reading all of the stories by the different authors all of them different and entertaining. I’m a fan of L.J. swallow so that’s why I choose this box set too read, I love all of her series that she has out right now and have read all of them including her other books under Lisa Swallow. The books never disappoint. I actually read the Soul Ties series as one of my first experiences of her books and fell in love with the characters and story line. A great read lots of excitement and hard too put down.
cool academy stories! witches and warlocks at its best with fun shifters and creatures that will blow your mind! some are short prequels that give you a glimpse whats to come and others are long enough to keep you on the edge of your seat! i will update as i read: First one in no order: Destroyed by Magic by Elena Gray and Kelli Mccraken So good! Samara a very skilled witch who has been going crazy looking for her two friends. Her guardians (sexy gargoyles) have repeatedly asked her to be careful because the human world cannot find out about the supernatural or anything. Little do they know the Veil that separates humans and supernatural has been open and something is hunting them. Samara, her two mates Draven and Zander plus her guardians are all helping her look but danger finds her and is devastating! my heart hurt in this one. You wont wait long, the next book is Abducted by Magic! cant wait!
This entire set of books is worth buying as there are so many good books, its one of the Best Anthologies I have read in a very long time. Destroyed by Magic by Elena Gray and Kelli McCracken is absolutely brilliant and this is a 2nd prequal and follows Consumed by Magic which was in a different Anthology. Samara's friends have gone missing and she will do anything to save them including using illegal dangerous Magic, she has her Guardians to keep her safe and her 2 boyfriends to help. This leads to a new series which I am really looking forward to. Soul Hunter Academy by LJ Swallow, I absolutely loved it. the storey is a prequal to a new series which I am so looking forward to after reading this. I was hooked from the beginning as its different to a lot of the other Academy books. Wonderful lead MC Ava is brilliant and this intro lets you see how she becomes who she will be in the main series, you see her vulnerability and lack of self-confidence, you see how and why she buries these emotions and you see the amazing Hunter she becomes. Both of these are strong stories with plenty of action that slaps you in the face and leaves you with lots of unanswered questions. Wanting - No, needing the next books - These are definitely going to be on my Kindle as need to read as soon as they are released and to hell with what else is going on in the world plus sleep is overrated anyhow - rather than on my to do reading list that I will read when time allow. Skylar Andra – Lifes a Witch – again really good storey and looking forward to the follow on series. Also Lena May Hill and May Dawson have really strong stories as well
Sia and Tasha have trained all their life for the Gauntlet, a chance to win entry into the Imalind Academy. She also has her sight set on marrying the youngest son of the King and Queen and become part of the Royal family. The girls are the Golden children of the Chosen, but things go wrong because they changed the rules and not only will their training not help but they also allowed Drains who have to live in the sewers to try out. She thinks them beneath her and makes a enemy of one in the Gauntlet and told lies about her.
Some of these are 4 Star reads but others barely make 3 Stars 😔😢 It made me skip stories that were sub par but I devoured the good ones 😍 Its a decent enough RH box set but I'm glad I bought it when it was on offer 👍 I think that's related to my age though - it's probably more suited to a younger audience than me!!🙈
It's worth reading for the good stories, I'm looking forward to some new series coming out now!!🌟
I haven’t finished this whole book just yet, but I have read the Imdalind Academy: Preterm short story. It was a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It left me wanting more and I can’t wait to read the Imdalind Academy series book 1. I will update my review after I’ve finished reading the rest of the short stories.
I enjoyed some of these stories immensely and am looking forward to reading more to learn how those stories end. Some I think I can do without. I was disappointed though to find one story that I really wanted to continue reading I could not find. But then again George RR Martin probably already prepared me to face that.
I love anthologies, the different stories by different authors open up the chance for new authors and series. Each if these stories were interesting in their own way, some I'll definitely be continuing and others were great for entertainment. I did enjoy all the books.
A great collection of paranormal stories. So many great authors some i hadn't even heard of before, i love these collection books as I'm always finding new authors to read
“It wasn’t as interesting as I thought it’d be.” That was my original review. I stand by that. It’s not interesting in the slightest, so I’ve changed the two stars to a singular star. And I think I know why I did that originally; I wanted my stars to be evened out (a.k.a. I had a lot of one star already, so I gave it two; thankfully, I don’t give much a shit about that anymore, although it’s insane how I have just about the same amount of one, two, and three stars).
I guess you could say that this is a time where you should judge a book by its cover. And I’m not sorry about the nothing review; this was a nothing book.
