Welcome to Spellbound, where paranormal is the new normal.
Emma Hart would like to believe she's glowing more than growing, but there's no denying her stomach now has the look of a prize-winning watermelon. Her pregnancy results in more than physical changes, however, as she decides to delve deeper into her family history. When a routine misdemeanor case goes awry and Althea is the main suspect, Emma's personal life must take a back seat as she sets out to help both her assistant and her client.
With a coven in flux, a vampire ghost roommate in maternal mode, and an angelic husband planning one last romantic getaway, Emma is ready to burst in more ways than one. Will our favorite sorceress manage to save the day or will she become the next victim?

I’m such a huge fan of this book series but this book was a swing and miss and I can see now that it’s the beginning of the end.
Let’s see:
First and foremost it’s super hard to keep up with a series as a writer, especially when it goes over three books. However, when you start there’s no going back, which means you cannot have inconsistencies. If you’re a reader like me, you observe and remember everything!! I found a lot of things that were different from previous books. It’s annoying to say the least. Also, it may just be me but I feel like you shouldn’t keep reiterating things that are already understood from previous books. If you’re doing it for new readers it’s a waste because they shouldn’t go out of order and make dedicated fans suffer through things we already know.
As a long time reader of the Spellbound Cozy Mysteries I’m frustrated with the plain Jane revelations when Emma finds out who the culprit is. I’m over it. It’s always a revelation that she gets only when discussing things with friends or someone from the coven. It’s boring. We want something new.
Emma has always been my favorite but as of lately she was been cocky and reckless. We loved her for sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong but putting your unborn child in jeopardy is extreme. Daniel doesn’t say a word ever, really, it’s okay for them to argue or disagree every now and again. What’s even more just “ugh” is the fact that she becomes apologetic about it. We won’t believe her because just as sure as I’m typing this she’ll do it again and again.
Not to mention the arrest of Astrid shouldn’t have taken place for the lack of evidence; if you arrested her, there should have been more damning evidence to make it more believable.
Everything has become so generic and lost its glow and excitement.
I at least thought the ending would leave us with something in regards to her father but it was just another let down. I know the book surrounds solving crimes and balancing her personal life but it’s more crime solving than solving the mystery of her family ties.
All and all I was extremely disappointed with this one. Hoping the next is a lot better but if not I won’t hesitate to stop right where I am instead of suffering through like I did with this one.
And absolutely amazing Series. Great cast of characters a witchy supernatural cozy mystery series/urban fantasy. Follow along with Emma heart a powerful sorceress and a small magical Pennsylvania town. Follow along as she solves mysteries murders and gets into Mayham. One of several different series by the same author scanning a magical universe with multiple crossover events and character crossovers into each other’s books. You will never be disappointed and always beg and absolutely amazing Series. Great cast of characters a witchy supernatural cozy mystery series/urban fantasy. Emma is definitely pregnant. Meanwhile the High Priestess seems to be letting power go to her head. She even has the seats for meetings labeled for individual people. She also wants to stamp out cliques.
A good idea is The Voice of the Coven which would be a link between the coven and the town. There's a being that's turned to stone and an arrest that might or might not be of the right person.
Magpie can breathe fire and Emma's pregnancy seems to be affecting those around her at home. This is somewhat offset by the fact that her father is a demigod and doesn't have the best reputation around.
Oh, yes, if that wasn't enough there's someone going around destroying gardens that were entered in a best garden contest.
So, which will prove the biggest problem? Her pregnancy? The stoned beings? A coven that is getting very strict and maybe too strong?
A lighthearted read with a nice plot with a amusing look at pregnancy. The characters are evolving, growing as they mature and take on new responsibilities. Will the news about her father have an effect on her powers and how quickly will the baby develop theirs? She feels like a beached whale, big, clumsy and emotional. Tired is her constant companion but she still feels that she should be at the office. When her appointment doesn't show up, she goes looking for him. Only to find him turned to stone. A gardening competition, racism, destroyed gardens, loneliness, another victim turned to stone, her assistant jailed, a baby shower, changes in the coven, a hell cat's protection and a locating spell on her father. Will they find out who the spell caster is? Is it that the reason the gardens were destroyed?
As usual Chase doesn't disappoint! I just love these cosy, comfy, feel good books. I have no problem in highly recommender all her work this far.
You get mystery, magic, adventure,a bit of mayhem. The caravan world are.both well developed and she doesn't do cheesy romance, just little touched here and there.
Perfect relaxing reads. I would recommend reading in order to get the most enjoyment and her books are usually available on KU!!
.. when Emma's latest client is rude to Althea while she books his appointment she sets him straight and sends him on his way. But he fails to appear for the appointment and when Emma tries to track him down she discovers that he's been turned to stone.
Althea is arrested for the crime and Emma is on another mission to find the guilty party and get her friend released.
Well in this book you learn don't mess with the garden gnome. And OMG Althea is blamed for turning someone to Stone. I can't believe she would ever do that. And Emma finds out who her father is. And that she's a descendant of a god. Well demigod. And oh my God I can't believe magpie has powers. Wait till he comes to the rescue you will love it. I'm off to read the next book and then the story Hollow series.
I love the rich and vibrant characters and town of Spellbound. By far all of the series that Annabel Chase creates it is the most entertaining, but I love the relationship that can be developed between Spellslingers Academy & Starry Hollow. Keep up the good work! Can't wait for May now.
It’s always hilarious when the residents of this town and technology come together. Emma bumbling around and trying to find a culprit are entertaining enough but when they throw her a baby shower, oh my, the gifts alone will have you cracking up. I loved this book and so will you!
I love how Annabel Chase has incorporated Emma's continuing storyline into this series. A lot of author's end a series when the main character gets their HEA, but Emma still has a lot of things to learn about herself and about the magical world. This series continues to evolve and still be fresh and fun. Really wonderful!
This is another fun addition to the series. I have enjoyed all of the Spellbound and Spellbound Ever After books. There has been mention of the Starry Hollow series and I really want to read those especially now that there is a crossover. With it being the 97th Starry Hollow book I better get on it.
Emma has her hands full with being pregnant. But she has a new client but his first meeting he is a no show...so Emma takes things into her own hands and goes to her clients home There has been a mishap with her client and her assistant Althea has been taken into custody Is Althea guilty or will Emma find the guilty party
Emma is big as a house, and still defending her magical paranormal friends. Even though she needs to put her swollen feet up, she still manages to save the day. Great read!
I remember the need to find my birth parents when I was pregnant with my first 19 years ago. Hopefully Emma's results are better than mine were! Lol Great, smooth, fast read! Love the characters and how they have developed over the series.
Another wonderful book from Annabel Chase.. I love 💘everything she writes!!!!! Once you start reading it's very hard to put it down until you are finished.
I cannot get enough of Emma. Although, Daniel will never be my favorite male character, it works, right? Great mystery and great writing. Thanks. I always have a huge smile and lighter thoughts after reading one of these books.
This story contains it all; excitement, suspense, drama and, romance. The storyline is well written with a lot of twists and turns. The characters are incredibly interesting and believable. This author knows how to write very interesting story.
Don't miss this one, it's filled with plenty of excitement, surprises, suspense, danger, and lots of magic and wonderful friends and lots of love. I would recommend this to everyone who enjoys reading mystical stories with a great mystery.
Book 4 has humor, mystery, crime, no murder, but someone is turning others to stone and a friend is getting the blame. Emma's pregnancy is progressing and the Academy is seeing changes. Highly entertaining.
This mystery requires many twists and turns to figure out and this time a good friend is the main suspect. Can Emma and her friends figure out the mystery and help with things at the academy? Is an awesome read to find out.
This series is never dull..it's fast paced and love love the character's.can't wait ✋until baby 🚼is here .if u haven't read this series u will love 💘💘 it
Exciting and captivating. The vivid description of the different gardens was marvelous. Wish I was there. The feelings while pregnant were spot on. Throughly enjoyable.
Fun read. Always entertaining, she manages not to give away everything, leaving the reader to wait for the character to catch up. until the final chapter s.
Another great story by Annabel Chase. This author is wildly imaginative and spins a wonderful story. There’s never a dull moment. Im starting to like Magpie....
