The Demon's Crystal

For Eric Frost, Madagascar is a place of beauty and learning. A researcher in bio-robotics, Eric finds the sheer variety of flora and fauna fascinating – but when he finds Unseen Madagascar, an unassuming book by a missing British author named Richard Walters, Eric learns that there’s more to the nation than meets the eye. The text speaks of an island off the coast of Madagascar known only as Demon Island. There, the author suggests, lives an isolated and hostile tribe of natives who seem to jealously guard something held deeper in the island’s interior. Eric, along with his friends Ivy and Max, pledge to get to the bottom of the mystery. They travel to Madagascar and begin to plan a journey out to Demon Island, but instead they meet the mysterious Daniel, a self-proclaimed American explorer full of dark warnings and vague stories. He eventually agrees to help Eric and his friends get to Demon Island, but at a price… THE DEMON'S CRYSTAL is Lenard Hale's thrilling first novel, and is sure to appeal to fans of sci-fi and adventure alike.

Gripping Sci-Fic novel

when I started to read the story I thought the whole novel is going to be on space. But this book happens on Earth with amazing twist and turns. Actually I should sum it up as “A Full Course package”.

The characters are the main highlights in this book. Each one was weighed, valued and added proportionately to the story. I loved the trio Max, Eric and Ivy.The character flow made a huge positive impact for the narration flow.

But the same characters past was not explained well deeply for the significance of the story. I felt the past was finished too fast with no emotional attachment with no clear picture or I don’t know if author has planned few things for the sequel. Yet I loved every characters in this novel till the end.

On the track of story line there is no bumpy holes to get diverted. The story was absolutely straight “Where is Richard now? ” . The search journey by the characters for the answers is what makes the story more likable.

The pace of the book was really commendable, it was constantly travelling with same thrill. I don’t know if that was the reason author didn’t get too much into the character’s past, thought it would get diverted from the thrill. The language was easy and simple.

The story got me pinned to it absolutely. Author made sure of me to doubt every character to be involved with the secret and settings. The scientific terms and description was bit long but of course essential part of the story.

I was bit disappointed at the end of how it happened. I felt the initial encounter of Max and Eric on Demon island was more fascinating than the end part.I couldn’t concentrate as the end action jumped to different places in a single scene. It could have been more of with focused detailing of one event at a time.

Overall “The Demon’s Crystal” glow was bright throughout the novel with stunning characters and haunting dark places to uncover the shocking secret.

The demon's crystal by Leonard Hale
🌸 298 pages
🌸 Sci-Fi thriller
🌸 Rs 315
🌸 Independently published
Blurb- Eric and Max set forth to Madagascar to find a researcher Richard Walters who disappeared on his second trip credits to his first book on an island called the Demon's Island. What follows is an epic showdown of mysteries, strange occurrences and secrets waiting to be revealed. With some help from Professor and their friend Ivy they uncover dark haunting secrets which changes their life.
Opinion-
The start made me assume it's gonna be on space but I was in for a surprise. The story takes you places, on adventures like a true explorer.
With a fresh unique plot, stellar narration, simple colloquial language and lucid writing style it's a gripping read.
The cover is intriguing with dark deep eyes over an island and a helicopter straying around it.
The title and the blurb is apt and justifies the content within.
There aren't alot of characters but they are sketched well. The friendship between Ivy, Max, Eric; the mystery around Daniel and Blake; the suspense of Richard's disappearence, everything is perfectly captured.
Moderate pace with the setting properly descripted. The background story of the characters is well detailed but lacked emotions.
It has all the elements of a good sci-fi story- mystery, thrilling adventures, earth, space and tons of geek techno stuff. It takes you places, undiscovered, uncharted territories. There not a single moment where I got bored.
The story ends in a cliff hanger, so I'm eagerly waiting for a sequel.
Overall an engaging read.

#2019 #YearInBooks Book 46

Enjoyed the main characters - Eric Max and Ivy. And the first third of the book was quite interesting and page-turner for sure. But this is more sci-fi than adventure in my book, and didn't quite engage me as I thought it might. It's a story that has promise. Perhaps a reread might help. At the moment though, not a book for me. 3-stars.

I won this novel in a goodreads novel.

A scientist and an arms dealer try to find some mystical crystals on Madagascar. There's hostile natives trying to keep people away from the crystals. Several hostile forces also want the crystal. Our heroes get away with the crystal, but are pursued.

Frantic.

I won this here on goodreads. It was a struggle to get through this novel, but I did finish. The idea is a great one - worthy of being written. The problem with this novel is that it reads like the dialogue of a character from a different country who does not have a good grasp of the English language. Sometimes there is more detail than necessary, other times not enough. There is no flow to the story - it is choppy and without style. It is my hope that Lenard Hale will take this novel to someone to proofread and edit, then re-publish.

Book Title: The Demon's Crystal
Author: Lenard Hale
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' The Demon's Crystal ' is attractive and mysterious

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is abstract yet fantasy image of a magical untouched island with two eyes watching from above the sky and a helicopter. The setup seems like there is a quest for something important involved in the story.

Plot:
On a travel quest, Eric, one of the protagonists happens to discover a book which has many mysterious unsolved and hidden in it. His interest moved towards the demon island and many mysteries attached to it.

The author in his first novel makes an honest attempt to make a reader feel every emotion one can feel while reading a great fantasy/sci-fi fiction by an experienced author. One of the many things that were found very interesting was the meeting of Daniel, an American explorer who himself is very mysterious.

What I like:
1. The character names and the place names give a feeling of reading an international sci-fi book
2. The story goes with a steady flow
3. The concept of demon island is very intriguing
4. The story could serve the fantasy and sci-fi genre lovers

What I didn't like:
Being a non-fan of the sci-fi genre, I found it a little difficult to keep up the focus while reading, but thanks to the narration that saved me from getting bored, though it fell flat at some places.

Characters:
All the characters are plotted well, where some of the characters' backstories felt shallow.

Narration:
An interesting narration is found in the book though, the second half of the book completely becomes a sci-fi thriller, people whose choice of reading is not sci-fi may find it difficult to focus.

Language Grammar:
Good language with good grammar is found in the book.

My Final Verdict:
A onetime good sci-fi read

Book Title: 3/5
Book Cover: 3/5
Plot: 3/5
Characters: 3/5
Narration: 3/5
Language Grammar: 3/5
Final Rating: 3/5

The Demon's Crystal is about a researcher named Eric Frost who was in search for a famous unsolved mystery that involved a book 'Unseen Madagascar' and learning about its author. Along with his friend Max he travelled to Madagascar hoping to find answers and solving this puzzle that baffled everyone. Ivy, another friend wanted to join them in this quest but due to some reason she was unable to but nonetheless she played a crucial role in the whole story.

Eric who would read the parts of Unseen Madagascar which was one of the few remaining copies in the world, about an island called Demon Island didn't realize that his fascination was going to lead them to world where danger and adventure go hand in hand. Another character was introduced when they were in Madagascar was that of Daniel. He was hiding a lot more that what he rely. The troubles followed each one of them back to their home.

Side by side Richard's story (the explorer and the author of Unseen Madagascar) which explains the discovery of Demon island and the mystical crystals associated with them. His chapter ended with a major cliffhanger which felt torturous because I was really invested in knowing what actually happened to him. The author knew how to keep the reader engaged by weaving the glimpses in a cunningly.

This is a Sci-fi novel. I picked up this book after reading the blurb that promised a huge adventure. It does live upto it's potential. The plot was engaging and the characters were thoroughly likable with different personalities.

Fans of The Raven Cycle book series will like this book. An adventure with thrilling twists and turns.

Book- The Demon's Crystal
Author- Lenard Hale
Type- Fiction (Adventure)
Format-E Book (Kindle)
Rating-4/5

(full list of characters will be available at www.lncpro.co.in)

The Demon's Crystal is a thrilling story about what happened at Demon's Island. Mr. Richard who went missing in his second journey at Demon's island, had written a book about first journey. This book stirred Eric to go out and discover the hidden secret. Thus Eric starts his Journey with Max towards Madagascar. Ivy (who was the best friend of Eric and Max) meets Richard's wife and informs Eric and Max about her concerns. The story had good thrill.

The best thing I liked about the story was its plot which was unique and attractive.

1. Language of the book was lucid and comfortable. Initially I needed to check the meaning of certain terms like Meteorite and Madagascar but thereafter it was easy.

2. The cover of the book was lovely designed and eye soothing.

3. Characters (Richard, Max, Eric, Ivy ) were portrayed strongly and captivating.

4. Book had good thrilling and suspense through out the read.

5. Titles of the book and section were understandable alongwith timeliness.

Only thing I didn't like about the book was that initially it started very technological advanced (like space station and advanced tools like gas detector) but similar more advanced technologies were not introduced again in the book.

Overall book was superb and I recommend it strongly.

Extremely disappointing. I felt like abandoning it within the first few pages but I always finish my books.

To start, the book is badly structured. There is no logical division of chapters. Settings and characters change randomly without a meaningful break or pause for the reader to accommodate the change. The book also needs a few rounds of edits. Even if the writer had no resources, he should have spent a couple of hours re-reading his own manuscript or use something like Grammarly.

The plot sounds like it was written for a children's show. The "Professor" would come up with some incredible invention within hours in his "Lab". Object/Life detection hand-held radar? How does that even work? And the writer needs to come up with some creative names - Project A, B, C? There are multiple plot elements with no clear focus and absurdly no explanation by the end. What happened to the zombies, what was the source of the crystal's power, who was the mysterious Blake?

I can't even call the characters flat. They are just names with no personalities of any sort. Actually some of them are just reduced to titles - again "Professor"- what did he teach? Wait, he was a genius scientist having mastery of all known fields of science.

All-in-all, I respect your efforts Mr. Writer, but you need to practice the art of story-telling, building realistic worlds, and creating complex but relatable characters.

Demons Crystal is a thrilling nice story written by author Lenard Hale. Overall plot is about finding set of 3 Crystals having enormous mystical power (when they are together) and controlling power in them. Plot is engaging and changing constantly from finding truth written in book, to finding author, finding crystal, controlling it's power etc..There many people/charecters in the plot who play important roles but you can say it's about three friends Max, Eric and Ivy to an extent. Story starts with Max and Eric planning an
adventure trip to Madagascar after Eric reads and gets very much fascinated by book written by author Richard and want to know more. So know more about mystical powers of crystals, how powerful are the crystals, history about the crystals, how Max, Eric find out about crystals, who else is searching for the same and for what reasons, who are the good guys, who are the bad guys, who is professor, his role and contribution etc. by reading the story. Plot is evenly paced, author has used simple language and hence easy to understand.
Story is thrilling, adventurous, has mystery, saving mankind etc. stuff and would recommend it to all.

I had a hard time with this book. As a fan of Indiana Jones and the whole adventure treasure-hunt genre this concept sounded pretty cool, however, it just never connected with me. It felt more like the Noah Wyle "Librarian" movies I would sometimes catch on TNT. I guess maybe it's me that I don't find myself identifying with independently wealthy paramilitary trained research lab owning guys free to globe trot at will who implicitly trust random strangers (with admitted underworld ties) without a thought for potential consequences.

The writing style just didn't click with me.

I would have just stopped and walked away at the second chapter, but wanted to give it a chance to provide a more useful review. It was not a "stay up way too late churning through 'just one more chapter'" type of book. The action picked up dramatically in the last 10% of the book and then just ended without resolution.

There were definitely some visually interesting scenes dealing with the magical crystal but just like "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" a few cool sequences does not a great story make.

I recommend taking a pass on this.

Richard Walters, famous adventurer, researcher and writer has set on a journey to explore and find the unthinkable, a Demon Island that he believes exists, containing important secrets of the world. However, he vanishes in his pursuit. Enter Eric and Max, all convinced to find their missing idol, Richard Walters. They set out their journey from Madagascar. Read on to find out if they succeed in their trail. What do they find out? Does the secret island exists?

Demon's Crystal is a science fiction, narrated back and forth in time, so the reader has to knit an understanding one chapter at a time. Reading this book was like finding what fits where in a jigsaw puzzle, coming closer to the whole picture one piece at a time. It is structured and nothing feels out of place.

The author has produced a real page turner. It would take a little time to set a flow, but when you're there, there's no coming back.

Open your gates to imagination, you're on for an adventurous ride!

The Demon’s crystal is an adventurous and amazing book. The protagonist of this book is Eric Frost. He is a researcher. He is also an avid traveller. He along with his friend Max plans to travel to Madagascar. This is about to get to know the information or to reveal the secret of something which was bothering a lot.
Ivy their friend is also very eager to join with them in the journey. But is unable to be the part of the journey.
Eric in his quest discovers a book of mystery. This leads him to Demon Island which is the ocean of secrets.
What is the secret in the book?
Will they be able to unveil the mystery of the island?
How Ivy does play a crucial role in it?
Read the book to find the answers. The narration is wonderful and the character sketch is good.
Thanks for this wonderful read.

This book was so good! From the start to the end, I was fully invested in the story. The cover is so appealing that I had to pick up the book and then when I read the blurb I was sold, I had to read the book. The way the author has described the setting of the book, Madagascar is mesmerizing. I was definitely lost in the picture the author has painted about the flora and the fauna of the country. I adored everything about the island, the mystery of it, the horror of it, all of it. I absolutely loved the way the author has been descriptive through out the book with everything; the characters, the concept, the plot. The science bit of the book was a little boring for me but it picked up pace very soon and I was totally into it. I cannot wait for the second book of this series!

First of all, I have to say that it is an amazing book to read. What a page-turner.
The author has done a great job with his narrative and engaging writing style. This book has a beautiful fusion of sci-fi and reality, with amazing twists and turns. Richard and Eric are the main characters, and I’ve to say the characterization is the USP of this book.
Adventure is what that never ends. This story of the book will not make you feel it is dragged. Trust me, it entertained me like anything. It is an amazing journey that takes you into various places, the places only a good fiction writer could take you.
The author has done a great job. It is a well-planned novel.

The title of the book is mysterious and is apt for the story. I have read few sci- fi novels in the past but this is none like them. I loved it. It was really easy to understand. The storyline of the book was awesome. It is full of twists and turns. It left me wanting for more. There is a sequel to the book and I’m excited for it. Characters are well described. Each one of them has a different importance to the story. I loved Eric, Max and Ivy, the trio. Language is easy. Honestly, as I read the book, it felt like I was watching a movie and this made it more interesting. Overall, the book is a page turner and it keeps you guessing what happens next.

I liked The Demon's Crystal but it has flaws. I gave this book 4 stars because it a good story. But the writing is not proper English. Was extremely long. The book needs to be formatted better. It started slow but got better, the Demon's Crystal has a lot of exciting scenes that had my heart racing. I thought the story was original and entertaining. The ending was spectacular and left us with the possibility of more. I'm glad I gave this Author a chance and would read more of his work

I give The Demon's Crystal 4 stars for its exciting read.
I would recommend this book to Sci-fi fans.

The Demon's Crystal grabs you from the start. If I could, I would give this a higher rating. Earth, space, mystery, intrigue, and heart racing moments combine to keep you completely wrapped up within its pages. The characters are dynamic (although their back story isn't too in-depth). I absolutely recommend this for anyone looking for a great thriller that skirts beyond the line of reality into the seemingly impossible unknown.

Quite a good story.
The sci fi part is well developed and I like how the story grows as we proceed reading.
The narration is clear and straight forward.
The story telling and Narration, both are nice.
For me it was a one time read.
The characters development is nice.
Core if the story is very interesting and that's what makes it a gripping read.
How different elements are merged, develops a different plot.

I've abandoned this book. The premise was intriguing but was executed so poorly I just couldn't force myself to keep reading. Uninteresting, cardboard characters and dull dialogue left me cold. Those of you who know me, know I hate writing bad reviews as I know how much hard work goes into producing a readable novel. So, apologies to the author, but not every novel is for every reader and I just couldn't stay interested in this one.

Oh, I'm calling this book "Read" because Goodreads doesn't recognize "Abandoned" and keeps sending me notices to Update my progress. How annoying.

The demon’s crystal

Eric and Max set out to Madagascar in search of their idol, Richard Walters, who had suddenly vanished after writing his first book on the Demon Island, even before he could truly reveal the secrets of the island in front of everyone. There, Max and Eric come in terms with Daniel who agree to help them in their venture. Will Eric and Max truly discover their idol with the help of Daniel? Is there really some secrets hidden in the Demon Island?

This book is a sci-fi thriller with a lot of twists and turns. Be ready to expect the unexpected. There are a lot of characters in the book, all important in their own ways. Till the end of the book, you will only keep guessing what will happen next. It is extremely gripping tale which I enjoyed throughly.
