Magic is real. So where does reality end and the madness begin? Whoever said magic was beautiful didn't mention the blood. The violence. Or are we just special? Better question, where is Lucida? Also, why can't Edwin or Byron answer any of our questions? AND for the love of all that is bloody... why are there bird bones everywhere?

Just remember to love cats... that's not negotiable.
Okay, so I love the story and the world building. I even love the characters. I just can't remember their names and descriptions or what is unique to them! But, I gotta admit Sinclair can weave a story and it just keeps getting better.
Well, except for typos and grammatical issues. Like the names. I think the 2 new images are Edwin and Byron, yet sometimes they are called Edward and Bryan. And Vivian is Vivin, etc. Then there are missing words too and things like that.
However, I am not going to drop my rating based on grammar and spelling because I love the creative brilliance of this author. One star is missing because the books could contain more info about descriptions of characters so readers can feel more connected to each guy. What's crazy is the new two, I feel like I know more about and can recognize more easily than the others. Maybe because Blue and Kodiak get more on page time. The rest kinda blur together.
Let's see if I can remember their names at least! Blue, Kodiak, Cosimo, Grover, Bandit, Booker, Decimus...okay I forgot one! Rocket and 2 more images Edwin and Byron.
If only I could keep then sorted out in my head... maybe by the end of the series!
While I really enjoyed this book, I'm looking forward to a bit more information. I know we're learning things as Vegas does, but I'm not patient. Also, not the biggest fan of the ending.
These characters are all insane. Obsessive and possessive, but I love it. Looks like more answers are coming and Vegas's group will be meeting Gray's group soon.
Magic is definitely real. Vegas and her guys are learning just what it means. Well if they could get Edwin or Byron to answer some questions. But what they do know. It is not pretty. Is it supposed to be this violent, and bloody? Is she supposed to enjoy it this much?
Okay, I am not going to give any spoilers for book two. It is best to just read it and enjoy the experience that is Ashes & Bones. What I will say is that I freaking loved this! Everything is just more. Everything gets a step up. The guys are more possessive, and hell if that doesn't make me want them more. Blue!! I need this man. I hella love him. Edwin is coming in on close second. That man, I just keep telling myself there is just something not right about him, and I love it. In book two we get a few answers, and then we get more questions. All I can say guys is that if you loved book one, you will flip for book two!!! Get Ashes &Bones, makes sure you have time to read it all in one setting, trust me you won't be able to stop.
This one was definitely an improvement from book 1 but I am still just reading this to figure out what is going on. This is supposed to be about paranormals, but not much paranormal really happens in this book. The explanations are far and few between. There are still some typos. I still don’t know what being a mage entails, I don’t know what a Horde is. I have plenty of questions, but the world building isn’t completely clear.
I am interested in the story, and the harem although they all are already in love I still don’t know why they love Vegas. I have barely seen Vegas do anything herself, except at the end. Why is every male person into or obsessed with Vegas? Vegas has had a stalker since book 1 and yet we are no closer to knowing who it is.
The whole Letters thing fell to the wayside too. I just don’t know about this series I really don’t. But I’ll keep reading bc I do want to see where this ends up and how it all plays out and if I’ll be satisfied. But currently this is paranormal lite.
Not the best book I've read but also, not the worst. Harem is way too big and I keep getting Bandit and Rocket and Grover and another one (can't remember his name) mixed up. As if the original 8 were not enough, another 2 are brought in. Not much happens till the last 20% of the book, other than the fmc getting carried around and falling asleep on the different men. Don't think I'll be reading any further.
But really? Does she have it because this chick has me concerned. She’s constantly sleeping!!! I sadly, DNF reading this. It was too all over the place with a lack of steam. Many mention how hard it is keeping track of a bigger harem, I honestly could care less, this book couldn’t get to the point fast enough.
Absolutely loving this series ❤️ fmc is a serious bad ass. I love seeing her come into her power and love the relationship between the guys and her grow. Can’t wait to read more in this series
A book full of magic and suspense it is a riddle with many question and having answers to questions of previous book. Author is so skillful in its ploting and development of story from begning till the very end. The element of flashback makes it a page turner and I did not put it back. The book struck a cord in my heart with lovely development of hand full of characters. Every single character is perfectly written. The series is packed with action and thrill. Ashes & Bones is one of those books that completely drags you in. It is an exclusive construction of magical world. I have alot of feelings about this book I enjoyed every single bit of the story. I loved the first book and was eager to read second one now I can't wait for for the next book by this author. The magical world with perfect characters drown me into a wonderland. Highly recommended to those who wants to go into the megical world.
I think these boys have ruined all the other RH books for me. I can't get enough of their possessive obsessive crazy behavior. The fact they grew up together is also a big plus for me, because it's just something I generally like very much. It creates such a powerful connection between Vegas and her boys.
Also Vegas is a female main character just the way I like her. She's not the doormat that puts up with being left out of the loop. She demands answers and the author manages to portray her both as strong and independent and as sweet and fragile at the same time. Let's not forget she also possesses the pinch of crazy her boys do.
My only problem with this series? I don't want it to end, which makes me actually postpone reading all the books back to back so I can savour every freakin' word, prolonging the absolute high I experience while reading this series.
This book has upped its quotient of wildness. Crazy, Magic, Violence, Intrique... All compete for most improved in this second Installment of the Red Masses series. There are a few answers to questions raised in book 1, but now more questions than answers. It is extremely fast-paced, and focuses more on character development, and explanations of.viokence than plot; it is definitely a lead up to "book three" more than a book that should stand alone on its own. Also, the copy editing /proofing was poor (ex. Homophones used incorrectly, grammar, spelling, even sometimes it seemed like it was written by someone who has Engliah as a second language) with oftwn a fan fiction feel. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it thoroughly; I was just waiting for more... Or the development of "less". I am interested in the storyline, and now about to begin the next installment, eager to learn how everything will play into the Three Kingdom Universe!
This series just keeps getting better! This story had me absolutely captivated. The dynamics between Vegas and her men are like a masterpiece. Each man meticulously ingrained into Vegas’s soul. A strong family through and through. Each bringing a unique aspect to the story. They all have such special ways in which they interact with Vegas and how they express their emotions.
This story definitely ramped up the action and the steaminess, dang! I love that as Vegas learns more about magic and the Horde she takes it all in stride. She is strong, powerful and confident despite her moments of vulnerability.
The way this group interacts together is like a well oiled machine. They all move and work as one unit. Always together and protecting one another.
I cannot wait to keep reading and see where the story take me!
Vegas and her guys discovered that magic is real. Meanwhile, Vegas tried to figure out her the new romantic side of her relationship with the guys. I love the different POV and discovering how twisted the guys are but also how obsessed and possessive they are with Vegas. She's litteraly everything for them and I can't imagine what could happen if someone would hurt her but now with her stalker I think we'll discover it and it will be ugly I guess! I look forward reading about how things will turn between Vegas,Byron, and Edwin. It promises to be interesting! I just want to point the editing... Mispelling, grammar errors... A bit disappointing considering that M. Sinclair is a great established writer.
Vegas and her guys find themselves dealing with a new relationship dynamic, as well as a new perspective regarding magic. Add in a mysterious stalker, and a trip to Las Vegas (cue the Vegas jokes), and it’s a busy week in their house!
Vegas slowly starts to process all that she has learned, even as the guys and the two mage asshats find themselves trying to make sure Vegas isn’t hurt by the secrets that are rapidly becoming known.
It’s a very fast paced story, with quite a bit of action, and a lot of adventure for the crew all served with a small side of magic. It’s an enjoyable read, with a little romance scattered throughout, and a few sexy scenes. This is one that the RH fantasy lovers will enjoy.
Still not sure. I’m frankly dreading the fact there are 4 more books. Not sure if I am going to make it. Vegas is alright as a FMC. The guys are all well described and each have their own backstory that you have discovered by now. Edwin and Bryon are still a bit of a mystery. I’m wondering if I had read the author’s previous series maybe I wouldn’t feel so lost. I don’t think I’m going to continue. The good is that it’s a RH with multiple POVs. Lots of characters that do develop, it’s just a bit hard for me to follow. I get there are secrets being kept and the author doesn’t want to reveal them, but feels disjointed at times. Maybe it’s just me.
The thing about their relationship is that they all loved her forever and have always been protective of her. I think there was enough action in it to make it a page turner, but then it lagged in parts too.
Ashes & Bones (The Red Masques Book 2) OMG ~~ definitely didn't that ending some things coming. This book had so many twists and turns. So much going on ~~ A whole New World has been dumped on all of them and they have to learn to sink or swim without any lessons. Through out the book we get to hear the boys point of views. Loved this book, I read it in one sitting. Glad I'm one Christmas vacation will get to catch up!!!! Now going to start the third book. I love this author and all her series !! Definitely recommend this book....💕💖 💥🔥🔥
The Harem element of this series is really outstanding! It's so detailed, and well throughout. I really appreciate that we really get to know these characters as individuals. The various points of view are terrific, and brings more depth to the story. My only complaint is the FMC. She's such a weakling. I hate the constant, crying, and panic attacks. Vegas is fairly useless except at attracting men. I mean who is to weak too hold a blow dryer to dry there Own damn hair! Hopefully she toughens up, or at least starts working out!
I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like the first book of this series. Before I knew it I was a third of the way through. It has been interesting to see how the characters evolve and how the back stories seem to come together. Things have heated up in this book and I can't wait to read the third. My only negative comments have nothing to do with the story line. Nitpicky things like using your, instead of you're. To, instead of too and the over use of whimper and growl. Like I said, nitpicky things.
I absolutely adore Vegas and her guys. I loved this book because you get to see Edwin and Byron integrate themselves further within the family, and it’s extremely interesting to see their dynamics. I hope in the next book Vegas’ stalker issue gets resolved because he’s kind of ruining their new relationship vibe. I love how protective and obsessive Vegas’ guys are, especially the whole pregnancy ideology (thanks Rocket) and the ring. I can’t wait to read book 3. Highly recommend.
Didn’t find out how magic works until last couple of pages and even then, still vague. Still confused on what the plot is and still don’t know who the bad guy is, or what he wants with Vegas or how he knows all this information about her before we learn it from the story.
But am I gonna continue reading? Hell yes! The banter is witty, the characters are fun and normally I don’t like to be confused during the whole first two books, but it kinda fits the way the story is unraveling.
Book 2 was good. There was some development in the plot line. Im curious to see what happens with Vegas and Edwin and Byron. She seems to be against them at the moment. Her feelings seem to be conflicting when it comes to them.
I still have some questions, which I’m sure will be answered over the course of the series. My biggest question at the moment is what happened to Nathan. He just up and disappeared at then end of book 1 so im wondering if he’ll make an appearance.
I’m starting to get a better understanding of the characters personalities and can finally differ between each of them.
Loved it. Vegas is a badass sweet heart who pulls at your heart and makes you want her to own the world. The boys are addicting and quite a but of snark between the FMC and the group that you get a chuckle out. There is also the heat factor. The series is a slow world building and slow heat so you really want to push through this book to get more yummy stuff and a ton of questions answered. What I can say is this book didn't disappoint and I'm ready for book three.
Why do authors like to tease and torture their readers by stringing them along through 2 books without any answers? What's worse, is now there are more questions? What up with all the birds and their bones?? Why does Vegas need a tattoo if she can already do magic? Aghhh. It's cruel, I tell you cruel. Now I know how a kitten feels like being teased with a strong - frustrated, but I just can't stop. I have to keep reading; I have to know 😜
Ahh!!! What an ending!! So in Ashes & Bones we follow Vegas and her men to... drumroll please... Las Vegas!! Yes, the Vegas puns are in full swing haha!! I loved this book because we get to see a little more assertive Vegas and we FINALLY get some D!! I mean what’s a harem without some sexy time. Unfortunately, we are still trying to find someone to ink up the crew so we can find out exactly what each guy can do magic wise and we’ve gotten to a critical point with the stalker. That guy seriously needs to take a chill pill.. Book 3, here I come for some answers!!
This series just keeps getting more confusing as the layers peel back on what's exactly going on. I really do love Vegas and her boys and the events they go through, I also love how they all are diving straight into crazy town as they all fall into this crazy magic world they found themselves in. Also I love the random characters they are to become friends with along the way.
Decent story line. I like the FMC but the harem is a little large for my taste. I am having trouble keeping track of who is who and who has what skills. I saw another review that mentioned editing issues. There are a few issues where words were left out, situations like “the bird the” where only one “the” was needed, or “this” instead of “his” but it doesn’t happen often enough for it to have been a big issue for me.
Such strong, broody, male characters. I'm a little in love with Booker and bandit. My only thing is there are 8 definite men and a possible 2 extras and it's hard to keep up with all the guys. I would like some real answers, 2 books in and still no answers. The author though manages to weave an intricate story full of drama and angst. The first page and you are literally hit with an expected turn. I am loving the series and devour it any moment I get.
