I like the fact that the characters were deaf. Gave me a different perspective, definitely not what i'm used to when reading a book. The characters were lovable. I was really expecting a bit more when they were fighting the evil that had taken residence in their home. I planned to check out a few more books from this author, hopefully they're just as good!

Overall, I liked the concept. It was the writing style that fell short for me. I barely felt any emotion from the novel. The dialogue were too clean as if I was reading a research paperwork. None of the plots crept me out. It didn't show me, but tell me what was happening. Like step 1, step 2, and so on.

The whole concept of being deaf in a haunting house was a great idea to be written. I'm deaf as well. But this novel didn't feel like a writer was actually deaf. I don't know if he's actually deaf, though. I just think the novel needs more showing so I could feel the fear the family felt from the novel. I can see the author has a lot of idea to write more horror stories and he'll get better as he continues writing.
