Their Vampire Queen #6

Queen Takes Triune

Rate this book
Which Triune court is calling the last Isador queen to take her rightful seat?

There are three Aima courts: one dead, one full of monsters, and one with an empty seat that's ruled by the queen of Rome. While Shara Isador loves her monsters, she has no plan to unseat a Skolos queen. Nor does she wish to work side by side with Marne Ceresa on a daily basis.

Let alone the mysterious Dauphine, who might be closer than Shara ever suspected.

Shara might be a relative baby in Aima years, and she wasn't raised in a nest. She doesn't know the ancient houses or laws that bind the queens to the high courts. But there's one thing she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt.

What this queen takes, she loves, and what she loves, she keeps for all time.

Goddess help anyone who thinks to harm one of her own in order to sway her decision.

Joely Sue Burkhart... you are THE QUEEN!!!!
I was so sad thinking that "Queen Takes Checkmate" was going to be the last book following our beloved Shara and her loyal and loving Blood... but after I finished it and read the Autors note at the end and found out that there was going to be ANOTHER ONE!!!! I felt like I had eaten a pack of oreos and when I thought I finished all of them I find another one at the bottom (yes I do take my Oreo addiction very seriosly) :))

So excited to find out more about THE TRIUNE and get to spend more time with Shara and her Blood!!!
Can't wait for this book to come out!!!!!! 3

Oh man, I'm so disappointed that this was the last book of this series. I so love a badass heroine with devoted heroes that will stand by her side to kill and die for her. This series was the epitome of a reverse-harem in the best way.

This series was so entertaining with its funny antidotes and steamy hot sex scenes. OMG, the sex scenes this author came up with... whew mind blown!!!!

Well goodbye to one of my favorite series that I think I could re-read again one day. Here's hoping the author may change her mind and give us another Shara "Fucking" Isador story. Fingers cross ;)

I am sad to say I am really disappointed in this book. Disappointed is an understatement. For all the previous books in the series I gave four to five stars which is in stark contrast to the two I gave Queen Takes Triune (Their Vampire Queen, #6).
Unfortunately for this book I felt none of the excitement and nervous anticipation while reading, like I did in the previous books. Something was missing. The book felt more an introduction to the new stories that will develop from this series instead of the epic conclusion it should have been.

I guess what I wanted was for Shara to go to the Triune, kick some butt, burn everything to the ground for what she believes in, change the rules of the game and in the end understand with her family at her side that she can do this and she is the voice for the other Queens that don't have the power to protect themselves. She becomes a protector.
Here are the things that bothered me:

- In this book there were no moments where I felt my heart go aww because of her relationship with her Blood. There was no connection to them as a reader. It felt like Shara took them for granted. And some of them felt completely ignored throughout the book.

- There were times I was confused. The flow was disjointed and a mesh of ideas at some points. I wished for some clarity on the workings within the Triune: Why did her mother want to protect her from them, why do they stay in power when they are so cruel, why are they "evil", where are the good guys because not everyone is corrupt.

- there was no "WOW, I can't believe that happened!!" moments. The ending felt rushed and superficial while the beginning felt like filler and unnecessary fake drama.

I would still recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of paranormal, mythology and strong characters. It is still one of my favorite series out there although I feel like I can cry for weeks because of the disappointment of this last book.

Disappointed

There is no real ending just the promise of spin off books. This was by far the weakest book. After devouring the previous 5 books, this book was insanely a waste of my time. I felt 100% confused when it ended with a “she won”.... there is nothing that pisses me off more than an author saying in the post book that this was the final story of this series but “don’t worry there are other spin offs coming soon”. Like, no, give us the ending we, your devoted readers deserve if you are not going to tie things up. It pisses me off that instead of coming up with an ending , or writing another book, she uses it as a platform for her other books!!! As much as I want to give her one star and continue on scathingly writing about how displeased I am, with her the author, it is what it is. Aside from the no real ending, I did have to draw the line at the fact the female character was able to borrow her blood’s Phoenix “peen” to f-her bloods. I’m completely open minded to all the other themes of this book series, but when she created her own peen I caught myself muttering that this was pretty dumb. Wasn’t into it. The whole enticement is that the main character is a female and comes “into her own” and reveling in her femininity, her creating this whole “ I can change my genitals whenever ” just didn’t fit with this character, it felt like the author kept reaching in order to keep the sex scenes diverse. It just made it dumb. Again not the best book and a huge disappointment .

This is it you guys, the moment I've been waiting for and dreaded for months. This is the last book about Shara and her harem of monsters. Though, the series will live on with different leading ladies, this is it for Shara. To say I have mixed feelings about this is an understatement. On one hand I wish I could live in her world forever, on the other hand, Joely gave her such a perfect sendoff in this book, that it would be a shame to continue. But I would be lying if I didn't admit, that I am hoping that the last daughter of Isis will make an appearance sooner or later. Either in her own book, or in the spin-off's that Joely is continuing in the Their Vampire Queen series.

I only joined Joely's beta team about half a year ago, and as some of you fellow bloggers know, beta reading can be a lot of work. But for this author it has been an amazing experience! Having a front row seat to see how carefully she chooses every word, and how passionate she is about her story, has been nothing short of awe inspiring. When authors write series that are 4+ books long, I find that they often loose sight of the smallest characters. That couldn't be further from the case here. Joely makes sure that everyone gets a proper send off and has a role to play in the upcoming battle!

Shara-fucking-Isador has been through a lot! From being on the run from creatures, to now inviting selective, fierce and legendary monsters into her heart and bed. With the blood of two powerful gods running through her (Typhoon and Isis), this queen seems almost unstoppable. Though Shara would love nothing more than to spend every moment naked with her Blood, there's no rest in sight. Now that she's defeated Ra, killed the former queen on New York City, helped the legendary Gwen chase of Arthur - it's only a matter of time before she'll receive the call from the Triune. Powerful as she is, that's no guarantee of survival. Especially now when the rival queens have years of experience in court games, and are ruthless in their attempts to keep their secrets.

Throughout the book Joely managed to tie up loose ends, make sure every question is answered - while also providing a lot of new information. I love the dynamic between Shara and her Blood, and I was happy that she finally got her raven out of the shadows and into the spotlight. I felt like I got a new understanding and appreciation for not just Shara, but also for the other queen's. Both Dauphine and Marne proves formidable foes, and I was glad to get to know them both a bit better. Especially the queen of Rome is an interesting character! I kept walking the line between feeling sorry for her, admire her and hate her. But one thing is certain: knowing the rules for Chess isn't necessarily going to help in a game of Hearts.

div2

So, here’s to the former virgin Queen, may she finally get some much deserved downtime.

description

WARNING: This book contains detailed sex scenes, along with a strong adult language use, so I wouldn’t recommend this series if you’re easily offended. If not, I personally think it suits the world created here, and I don’t find it cheesy or forced!

5 stars Joely Sue Burkhart - Their Vampire Queen series

Just finished book #6 and last of shara’s story. Took forever to read the last book because the author took her time to publish it. But she is forgiven as she delivered.

So let’s hear the cons... Well almost. I think she opened a door with an unfinished business with another Queen in New Orleans and the epilogue was a bit short. Shara did not take revenge and for me it looked unfinished. In my opinion, book #6 is a HFN.

This said I adored this series. It has been years since I had this excited feeling about a book or story. Sex scenes were maybe a bit tame with not much visual details. I missed that. But somehow, the plot and characters took over the sex expectations. I was into the story over my head.

I found a lot of Laurel K Hamilton but much more romantic which is great. Anita should have retired years ago. Joely created her world. I am happy she will publish side characters stories. The mix of mythology, historical events and characters with a vampire world is totally genius.

This author is prolific and wrote many and has many projects. I am curious to check her other books. I took a step back from reviewing but this series deserves a spotlight. I recommend 💯 in case you did not read my first line... 5 stars all around!

Another fantastic book in this most epic of vampire reverse harem series. This series spans 6 books and a number of novellas featuring ( not so ) side charachters. To fully enjoy this series I highly recommend that you read from the first book otherwise your missing out on a well of backstory, charachter development and a whole world of epic reading-gasms.
However..and I’m truly gutted to say... It’s the last of Shara’s story....😭😭😭..for now!
Whilst we jet off to discover other vampires queens who have stories to tell.

Still reeling from the events following Her battle with Ra, Shara as usual has little time for respite and is back rallying her blood to aid her sibling queen Gwen of Camelot, tracking down a hiding in the shadows queen and facing off against the high queen of Rome and the triune.

Decisions need to be made and Shara is torn with the possibilities and the risk... but as usual in typical Shara fucking isador style, kicks ass and takes names...whilst capturing the hearts of those around her and falling in love with another monster!

The blood continues to grow and the new addition is a welcome one...🦑🦑🦑 as for me... I still continue to love hard on Rik 💚 and Mahan 🙌🏻💯😘. The personal chapters from each of the individual bloods POV continue to be a favourite of mine. I love that no one is left hiding in the background or forgotten in the crowd.

I’m dying to see how the series progresses... bring on Queen takes Avalon!! I love me some Gwen and her blood... and I truly hope Shara and her blood pop in... because to say I’m not ready to let them go is a monumental understatement.
I adore this series...from the very first page of book 1 to the very last page of book 6. It has been a pleasure to read from start to finish and I’ve said it before in other reviews in this series, has and continues to refresh and revitalised a long time loved genre for me and to that I am an so thankful to the author for putting Sharas story to paper.

Long live Shara fucking Isador!

I LOVE Shara Isador. I LOVE Their Vampire Queen Series. I can read about Shara all day. I never really have to do a re-read of this series because it's always with me. This is one of my favorite RH series ever. I'm so sad that this is the last book (hopefully for now and not forever). Don't get me wrong, I love Gwen and I love this world but....I still think Shara isn't done with us yet. I have so many questions about this book, this doesn't feel conclusive. I hope we get to see more Shara and her men and Vivian and not just in the background. These guys will be missed. However, I super excited about the upcoming projects. I want more of Gwen and the other queens. As long as I get a glimpse of Shara and her men every now and again, I think I will be satisfied until a later date.

I love this series. Long live House of Isador!

Overall: 5/5

I received an ARC of this book to review.

I’ve read really enjoyed this series. I’m sad to see it kind of end for Shara (for the time being) but I’m even more sad by how incomplete and rushed this book felt. What has my hackles raised a bit is we get a new mate for Shara with like 10% of the book left. She has eleven others already I believe but each time a new one is added there is less and less time to get to know them let alone be able to remember who’s who. This last mate.... he’s a freakin Kraken. To me that requires more information, details, I WANT EVERYTHING 😂 I’m glad Shara’s journey isn’t over but damn if I don’t feel invested in her life and want more.

I have been wanting to read this book forever and I was so looking forward to it. Im ashamed to say that I am a little disappointed. I have re-read the book a number of times to try and gain a more clear sense of the story. I did find that the story did not flow as well as the other books in the series. I felt that parts of the plot were patchy put together and some parts made sense and others didn't. I didn't get adding the blood at the end and just leaving it at that. But it was interesting to see that Share has called 2 kings. I would love to see more about him and the Skolos court. I feel that to completely conclude Shara there should be one more book to tie up those ends. There was also a lack of interaction with some of the other blood that I found little disappointing, I realise the there are many of them and it is hard to give time to everyone but I fet some were more neglected than others.

It was fantastic to see the plots surrounding the dauphine and the set up for the next queen to take her seat and further expansion of the series I will love to see coming but this book just fell a little flat to me. It was good to see her finally stick it to Marne and the glimpses with Esetta and others but I think the issues possibly could have been resolved if the book was a little longer

I really loved it. And I really, really hope this isn't the end. I want to see the Triune fully develop! I want to see what happens!

However, I actually actively hate Daire. I know he can't die, because of the deal with Coatlicue, but I hope he falls into some deep dark hole somewhere, and they never find him. Seriously, fuck that guy.

Re-read April 2024
This is a fun series, and this was the cap to Shara's arc...at least originally. The author has dreamed up a new arc for Shara, coming out later this week, which prompted my re-read. I'm glad for that, as there are so many moving pieces that I'd like to see Shara get into - finishing the rebuild of her Triune, dealing with the Dauphine and Marne, etc. As a whole, vampire society needs an overhaul because their cut-throat ways are bringing about their own extinction, and I'd like to see at least some of that.

But if there never was a second arc with Shara, I feel like this was still a satisfying arc - the primary issues are settled, and Shara is now in a position where she can go toe-to-toe with anyone.

This book really reminded me of why I hated Daire in my first read-through, though. Yeesh, I hope someone punches him in the throat.

I have a slight issue with completing series. Not just this one, but books in general. I read the previous books in 2018-2019, and it might be why I went this low.
The previous books focused a lot more on mythology and creatures and I remember really enjoying that.

I could not for the life of me let go of all the parts that bothered me. I am really glad I finished Shara’s story because I have thought for years to get around to it, but I honestly didn’t enjoy it.

The amount of times the Blood “kneeled by her feet”, or declared “Just kill me, I will let you do anything to me” or “ I will die for you, please don’t leave me” was exhausting.
I found Shara extremely annoying as well.
The story was repetitive.
It bothered me that a Queen so young (months) just “knew” everything and “could do everything”, and I do recognize she is super powerful, but yet a certain amount of “training” or “studying” is required and Shara just covered herself in blood and everything worked for her.

I originally started this series because I loved the covers, mythology is a big interest of mine and vampires just flat out rocks. But also because of the smut.
I can handle a lot of creative stuff but sadly the smut in this went so far off the trail for me.
I did not find a single moment sexy. I cringed. I went “this is ridiculous”, and not to be mean about it, but it was just so off.

My Rating: 2 ⭐️⭐️
Series Rating: 2.5 ⭐️⭐️ (SERIES IS NOT FINISHED)

✅ RH (and I mean RH!!)
✅ MM, MF, FF, and every other combination you can think of.
✅ Paranormal (and Mythical, from Spanish lore to Odin, to Camelot, to Greek Mythology - seriously, if there is lore on it - it's in this book)

Wait - Let me explain my rating! This isn't a bad series. I mean, it's not great but it's not horrible. I will probably keep reading once the next books come out just to see how many Blood this chick can get. The first few books were cool. By book 6 honestly, its so damn repetitive. The multiple POV's only discuss how much that particular person LOOOOVE the FMC. Like, would die over and over and over again for her. Which is super sweet in the first three books. It doesn't give any further insight to the plot than they love her. There are now 12 bodies in her Harem - and its hard to keep count. I understand the purpose behind it, but the author takes time to give you a backstory on each of these characters, and then you fall for said character, only to not read about them any further. I really liked where the author went with the FMC and Vivian, but now that the FMC has picked up 3 more "blood" I rarely see anything with her any longer. Never mind any "scenes" with her.

This series is perfect to pass the time. Maybe you're taking a break from another series. Or you have a bit of a hangover and need something to distract you. It does feel neverending, and you'll probably have more questions than answers but you'll get enough answers to keep your interest.

My Biggest knock on this series is the lore - because OMG some of these names! LOL. You're all in a story and waiting to see what happens and then you get a name like Yggdrasil and Huitzilopochtli... COME ON!!!! No. Just NO.

If you can get around that it's all good. I found myself more frustrated with this, and the repetitiveness than anything else.

This was the Vampire series I never knew I NEEDED 😈🥵

It’s a top must read for me !!!!! I’m sad it’s over!

👑 Bad Ass female Queen who loves fiercely
😈 Hot Affffff loyal, devoted, and strong men
🥵 This is an RH with mm, ff, fff, mmf, mfm, mmf while watching mm.... like there is so much sex with multiple people and blood orgies and at one point tentacles!!!

I felt great about the way things ended in this and LOVED the follow up - Queen takes more.

With how much sex and partners there are, I can’t believe how incredibly well written it all is. Things that shouldn’t probably work, just did... and it was hot as hellllll 🥵🥵🥵 It’s freaking perfection.

✅ 5/5 smut. It’s everywhere but written insanely well
✅ Great storyline and plot
✅ Hot vampires that shift into cool creatures
✅ Strong as hell but also soft & relatable female lead
✅ Epic love story. These books oooze love

It’s now one of my favourite series 💖

In this installment of Shara Isador’s life, we finally get to see her up against the Triune after she is called to her rightful seat on the courts. This world and cast of characters, quickly became one of my favorites. Burkhart created a perfect balance between the plot and romance aspects of this series. I was impressed with how deep into the details we were among court politics, the goddess/god aspects, or even how vampires are changed after they feed from their Queens. I'm glad this book won't be the last in this world. Since Shara still needs to fill her court, that series will introduce us to her partners. I'm excited to see where this is headed. (4/5 rating)

“A queen must make hard choices for the house and the future of the world. Would I rather live in happiness with my beloved Blood and my daughter? Of course. You know my heart, Lew. The cost is high. So terribly high. But that’s what makes this sacrifice all the greater. That’s what will power my intention and magic into the life of my daughter. She’ll be a force to be reckoned with. Even the Triune will tremble as she rises. And yes, it’s with immense pride and joy that I know my sacrifice makes this possible. Not just for us, for House Isador, but for the Great One who will walk on this earth once more through Her chosen avatar...

"...my daughter, Shara Isador, the daughter yet to come. The Great One has dreamed of you for millennia. She has great hopes and plans for you, sweet child. She has waited with perfect patience for the right time and queen willing to sacrifice everything in order to give you life. For the right queen to give you shelter away from the courts so that you can determine your own path free of the rigid traditions Aima hold so dear. The very same traditions that have crippled us.

“Don’t be afraid to break free of these traditions, Daughter. Isis wants you to tear down the walls and rebuild the courts in Her image. In your image. For Isis walks and breathes in you. Long live the greatest Aima queen yet to come and ever to be, Shara Isador.”

I love this book.
I love this series.
I love these characters.
I love Shara fucking Isador.

This book was absolutely fantastic. I inhaled it so damn quickly, the pacing and the action were just so good, but those moments of intense emotion brought tears to my eyes more than once. This path Shara is walking is not even marginally easy, and she really goes through it in this book. But she has her Blood by her side, the undying love of her mother, and the unwavering support of a goddess. Just when you think she's been backed into a corner, she finds a way to rise triumphant over all that would subdue her... and it's fucking fantastic.

So glad Joely is continuing to write within this universe! I'm nowhere near ready to say goodbye to House Isador forever. I need more!

What is it with this series that I was constantly irritated about something? It took me 16 days to finally finish it!! And I usually read one book a day. I. Just. Could. Not. Finish. It. Once I reached about 25% it became more interesting but until then I really suffered. But this was the last book in the series, so I HAD to read it.

And this leads us to the main problem. What the hell was this??!! What kind of ending was this suposed to be?! I try not to spoil so cannot go into details but I think the title was misleading, the story arc was not finished and I still do not get how she can insist she took only Blood she loved. With ALL her Blood love always came after the claim.

Anyways, I liked this series because it was unique and shocking plus great writing! Different POVs worked very well too. But something did not click for me and I did not want any of her Blood for myself which shows I did not care and that was it.

Overall my love for the series came from the detailed 'steamy' scenes and the characters Mehen and Daire. Mehens character always had me laughing, he said what he thought and reacted just so. He had good snappy banter. And well Daire wanted to be submissive to anyone that would have him. I was not so impressed with Rik as a character and since he was always with the Queen, hence always referred to, I bored of him quickly. I liked all the 'bloods' but as they kept bring introduced, some didn't appear as much as others, and when they were brought into the scene, I had trouble remembering who they were. This series was easy to get through, and by the second/ third book it became clear that no matter the adversary, the Queen would defeat them or find away to outsmart them. So there was no surprises. I did want more to be explained about the vampires etc

Long live Shara fucking Isador

I have loved this series since I randomly found it almost a year ago. It has been one heck of a journey, i have seen Shara and her Harem grow and get more incredible book after book. This ending is bittersweet, I am happy with the way it ended

I don't know what to do now that it's over, I kinda wanna sit and cry but, I'm honestly elated. Joely Sue Burkhart is a talented writer. I don't know about anyone else but, this is one if the best books in the series and they were all pretty great.
