Good start for this new Sabrina series! Obviously this is a lot lighter than Chilling Adventures of Sabrina but it’s still very interesting to read. The art is soo lovely but the good thing is that it doesn’t take away from the plot! Will definitely be following this series.

Good start to a new series

I have always liked Sabrina and am very glad to have another series to to go to. This character has always been one of the most interesting and I cannot wait to delve into this new take. The story is off to a great start with a new friend and a likely new enemy.

She is having a hard time sticking to her guns about magic use. Can't wait for the next chapter.

The art style is great! And the colour panels are very well done. But the story — wow, no. I feel like I’ve read this story already a million times. Good girl saves the day and fights monsters and mean girls. It’s been done much better before. I would suggest an alternative — if you haven’t read the Sailor Moon EPIC manga series, you absolutely need to. Because that manga is pure gold. Another alternative that is relatively newer is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. That one had me shook!

I know nothing about Sabrina apart from the old tv show I sometimes watched as a kid, and CAoS. I really enjoyed this first issue because 1) the art is absolutely lovely and 2) it's October, reading about witches is a staple in this household.

I've only dabbled in Sabrina comics, and not consistently. I was nervous to see that they were rebooting her yet again for Archie Forever, and especially because I'm not a fan of her in the current Archie plotline. But this issue, boy howdy was it a lot of fun. First off, the cover was perfect, Kiki's Delivery Sevice-esque with plenty of details. Second, the plot felt just dark enough, not totally Satanic like the previous series, but not all Archie-style fluff. Finally, I didn't realize how much I missed Veronica and Andy Fish's art until now, and I'm overjoyed to see that I get to read two Kelly Thompson books at once (West Coast Avengers and this). Overall, this is a promising start and has already become my preferred Archie Forever reboot over Archie.

I love all things Sabrina, so this is definitely biased. Like any first issue, it’s all buildup and introducing new (old) characters so it’s hard to get a feel on the story. I absolutely loved Kelly Thompson’s work on Hawkeye, so my hopes are high. Veronica and Andy Fish’s Art is absolutely perfect for this series! I will definitely keep reading, I just have to decide if I’m getting the singles or trades on this.

High school mean girls truly are monsters! The story was cute. I liked the art style, colouring and lettering. I thought we were seeing Nick for a moment but sadly it was not him. This isn't really related to the Netflix show but it's great to see Sabrina, Salem, and the aunts in any iteration. Let's see where this series goes!

They have a word for such comics; Adorable.

It's about a witch, she has her talking cat and everything, but the whole thing was too cute to be taken seriously.
That being said, I'll follow it anyway.

This was a fun read. I really like see the Modern version of this story, in the style that it was originally written from. this was a definite refresher from the dark modernizes version.

I will be the first to admit that I am bad at watching TV. Most TV is boring and goes on too long. Also, there's so much to watch, and sitting down and watching TV is a form of torture for me. As a result, I don't watch a lot of what everyone is watching. I've never seen Friends or The Office, I don't watch Stranger Things, and I still haven't seen any of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Though I haven't watched any of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, I am interested in an updated version of Sabrina. I grew up loving the original Sabrina show, and I was excited to see Archie was releasing an updated Sabrina comic. As far as a first issue goes, I really enjoyed Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I liked how it melds the lighter tone of the Sabrina TV show with the darker aesthetic/characterization of the Netflix show. I love Sabrina's use of spells for mundane things. I like how both Harvey and another cute guy are briefly introduced and that much of Sabrina's conflict, like in the original show, is rooted in her struggles to be both mortal and witch in high school. I especially love that, in this version of Sabrina, we have a talking Salem again. God, did I miss him!

I recommend Sabrina the Teenage Witch for any old school Sabrina fans looking for a lighter update than the Netflix show. I can't wait to see where this series goes.

got it as a bonus borrow on hoopla, i cannot believe that the high school mean girl is a brown girl named radka (whose name is mocked on page) who picks on Demure Asian Girl that has to be saved by white sabrina spellman, only for it to later be revealed that the brown girl and her brother are two halves of a fucking w*nd*g*. like holy fuck

This was 33 pages long, so obviously this won't be an extremely long review, but! I really, really enjoyed this issue. I was so happy when I found out this was a thing, as, though I had loved the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, I was down for a lighter Sabrina story. I mean, there's still supernatural stuff, but it's also very Sabrina-y, and by that I mean more in the vibe of the tv show I grew up watching and loving.

I loved the little bit about history, too, though it was quite short. It was a nice nod to something that is very true, and I thoroughly appreciated it. Illustration-wise, this was very beautiful, without being so jaw-dropping that it takes you away from the story. In fact, the story and the illustrations worked wonderfully well together.

All in all, I really really enjoyed this issue, and I can't wait to read the next ones! And unless the next issues really, really suck, I'll definitely be purchasing volume one when it comes out!

I felt so lost because I don't know what a Wendigo is...it looked like a deer&a werewolf combined? Very confused. I also feel like we were supposed to have knowledge of who Sabrina was after the 90's tv show&I don't lol. I haven't watched a second of The Chilling Adventures series so idk if this is connected or not but in this comic she's supposed to be chilling with magic for some unexplained reason but she doesn't...she seems to be addicted to spells. I like her&Jesse as friends ; they seem to super cool. I like them both as characters and I'll definitely be coming back to this comic for their friendship! So far they both seem straight but you never know! The artwork is amazing&very familiar to me as a fan of Archie...the artwork is VERY ARCHIE! Love it! Highly recommend!!

Well.
I was so excited to read this because the cover was so promising: how cringy is it to say that it's my aesthetic?
So based on the art style, I'd say 10 stars. I'd look at this all day all my life.

But the plot? Not sure. This Sabrina story does not seem much different from The Chilling Adventures, but this volume focused more on the mortal side and Sabrina in high school.
What I liked: her breaking rules all the time. Befriending the girl who's being picked on.

As I've mentioned, I'm gonna need more of this so I'll see where the plot goes and hopefully it's gonna be great.

Full review [here].

Overall, not that impressed with this first issue art or plot-wise, but it doesn't deserve less than 3 stars because I think my expectations were skewed thanks to the Netflix show.

The comic definitely feels like it was written for a younger audience than the protagonist, and could safely be handed to anyone so long as they're not mortally offended by witches.

Sterotypical highschool melodrama with little oomph behind it.

An utterly charming and vibrant new take on the character and her world with probably the best art I have seen in a long time. This instantly jumped to the top of my favorites list to make a 3 way tie between this, Go Go Power Rangers and The Unstoppable Wasp. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend doing so.

This was cute. Sabrina wakes up with Salem's butt in her face. Something every cat owner will understand! The Aunts were similar to their CAOS roles. Though the students were different at school. It looks like it'll be a fun comic but WAY too short. Definitely going to wait and get the graphic novel of these.

I find this comic series a very interesting take on Sabrina. It reminds me of the newer show that came out on Netflix with how she looks but with the talking Salem. The artwork is truly wonderful, and the start of the storyline for this first comic was great with the little twist of a monster showing up.

This is decidedly lighter than the Chilling Adventures version, but I enjoyed it. I liked the humor and the attempts to balance Sabrina's witch life with her "normal" life. Not much happened in this first issue, so I'm afraid I can't give a proper review, but suffice it to say, I enjoyed it immensely.

A good story a bit more like the more modern show version of Sabrina which is a lot darker then the old series on tv. This story involves Sabrina helping a brother and sister with a spell for their condition; trusting a witch outside of her family; and learning how to intermix with humans at school and dating or maybe not.

I always like the 1996 tv show. So picking up this new series was a must. A great start to the series. Will be waiting impatiently for the next issue.

FYI - I have yet to watch the Netflix series but I am collecting the comics that it is based on in trade paper back.

This was a lot of fun. Not as sickly sweet as 80s/90s Sabrina and nowhere near dark like Chilling Adventures. Think Sabrina with a bit of sass. The plot was interesting and I’m curious to see where it goes.

I was curious, so I borrowed it on hoopla. I like the coloring, but I don't think I'm going to continue the run. There's other comics I'm more invested in.

Warning: witchcraft(and not the fake wand type).
