A bestselling author, a billionaire, and a snowstorm that leaves them stranded in a Montana cabin.
Bestselling author Olivia Weber is a year overdue delivering her next book, and her publisher is being bought out by another publishing company—one that doesn’t like to keep authors who don’t deliver. To spur Olivia’s creativity, her friend and agent sends her on a two-week getaway at a cabin in Snowshoe, Montana.
When Gabriel Saxon, billionaire and CEO of Saxon Publishing, shows up at his family’s cabin in Montana, he’s shocked to find a woman claiming she’s rented the place for the next two weeks. He wants her gone and pronto, but a looming snowstorm puts a kink in his plan. It’s only after they’re stuck together that he finds out she’s the jewel of the publishing company he’s buying and she has no idea who he is—and he wants to keep it that way.
Will being forced together in a tiny cabin bring them closer, or will the looming buyout control the future?
This was a sweet little romance about an author trying to overcome roadblock and a publishing CEO trying to overcome the stress giving him health issue forced to spend time together. It was a nice way to destress myself.
The story was really cute and sweet. I liked that the couple was mature adults who were willing to talk, communicate, and figure things out and apologize quickly when The communication didn't go well. I guess what I'm saying is, I like it when characters in books act like people you would actually want to know, not irrational people who blow things out of proportion and seem to deliberately misunderstand everything.
Livy does have some hang ups, but they are perfectly understandable given how she grew up, and what is more, she is able to grow past those insecurities.
Two broken people forced together by circumstances beyond their control.
Note to the author this is only one of a few that a review link pops up in after you're finished reading.
Livy is an orphan. She lost both parents at age seven. She has a twin & another sister out there but neither shows interest in reconnecting. Livy spends her childhood in & out of foster homes. She never stays too long. No one ever loved her until one foster father saw who she really was. What they had was special until the biological son got jealous. That's when things got bad for Livy. This bully was manipulative & did things to her she still has nightmares about as an adult. He convinced his parents she was doing things he did to get her in trouble. And one night he snuck her out of the house & told her to leave or he'd kill her. Naturally all Livy has ever wanted was to be loved & accepted. As an adult Livy is a romance writer who writes under a pen name. She pours everything she wants to feel into her books. She works for a publishing company called Romero. She is trying to write a book that is ten months over due. She went through a breakup & it's giving her writers block. Her agent rents her a secluded cabin in Montana in hopes the change of scenery helps. (Wait till you hear about her ex. I would have left him the first time he cheated!)
Gabe is a billionaire for a bigger publishing company. They just bought Romero. However, Gabe has been working non-stop & lives at his office. He has been getting stress headaches that quickly turn into migraines. On top of that he collapsed at work a month ago. He was put on medication to help with arrhythmia. His mother is seriously worried about him so she decides to run the company long enough for to take at least two weeks off. He is going to stay in the cabin that Band's family owns. You see where this is going right? Gabe has been depressed ever sense he was left at the altar by his fiance. Turns out she was a cheater who is as cruel as they come! She had the nerve to tell him his dead father was disappointed in him because he wasn't as money hungry as his Dad was. Now Gabe never knew his father if he truly bought that. Needless to say he shows up at the cabin in a bad mood only to find a stranger staying there. He's furious & wants to kick her out late at night. She convinced him to let her stay until morning. Unfortunately, when morning comes a big snowstorm hits. When it's all said & done there's three feet of snow.
Trapped in a snowstorm these two strangers learn how to cohabitate. Eventually they start sharing things with each other. As their trust & the comfort they find in each other evolves they start to really care about each other. He learns how to tell her things without her reading into what he's saying & twisting their meaning. You will love the ending!
This is a clean romance, set in Montana. Gabe was born into a wealthy, well adjusted family. Both parents were loving and very successful. His father passed a few years ago and they were very close. The family owns a very large publishing company in New York and Gabe is the CEO. He is overwrought from trying to prove his worth ... that he can be as great as his father and run the co. He prefers his own company due to being dumped and disenchated feeling used... He is sought after by the ladies because of his wealth and position in society. He has had a very stressful year and it is getting the best of him. His mom steps in to run the company and she sends him to their mountain cabin in Montana for 2 weeks of rest and to regroup.
Olivia... Livy is a very successful romance writer. However she is also enduring a stressful time due to being used and abused by her ex and so her mind just won't let go of the past and so she cannot do what she normally does.....She writes under another name so that no one knows what she does for a living. She is quite wealthy and is very shy. She had a rough childhood and she is trying to overcome the nightmares she lived through. She is recovering from a bad breakup too. She allowed him to cheat on her and treat her badly... and so she continually blames herself for being so stupid.
She's overdue on a book to her publisher. Since the breakup the words just won't come and her agent is beginning to worry about her. Livy's publisher is rumored to be selling out to a large publishing company and if the deal goes through, she could easily lose her career if she cannot get this book written. Her friend and agent decides to send her to a remote mountain cabin in Montana so that she will have no distractions and can get the book written. ..... so Both Characters end up with their attraction and past pins in life and ... Well you know it we all get the HEA... was a really good read...
Livy’s parents died when she was young. She and her twin sisters were put into foster care. Her sisters were eventually adopted but she kept getting shuffled from home to home, never fully accepted, never truly loved. As a result of being moved around so much and never knowing if she would sleep in the same bed two nights in a row, she has high anxiety and chronic insomnia. She is insecure and has low self-esteem. Her long-time boyfriend treated her badly, which compounds her difficulties.
When a mix-up happens and Livy ends up staying, unknowingly, at the cottage of a billionaire seeking privacy, she sinks even deeper into her insecurities as he clearly does not want her there. Trapped by a severe snowstorm, the two are forced to spend time together. Perhaps, with time, they will begin to build each other up and fill the holes in their lives. Perhaps they need each other more than they could have ever believed...
I could relate to this story as I too am a chronic insomniac (not due to the same circumstances) and I suffer from anxiety. I think the story is well-written and sensitive to the issues. It is a clean romance.
I couldn’t put this story down! I enjoyed reading it so much. I loved the style of writing and there were no major grammar flaws which I find so important in a good book!
However, I have a very critical eye and because of that a star was lost:
As a Montana native, I had a major issue with some details about Montana that seemed completely illogical or incoherent. The cabin is said to be set against an unspecified national park in Montana (there are two in MT-both on the west side of the state on the north and south boarders) but then as they leave, they drive to an airport in Sidney, MT. Sidney is on the east side of Montana near the North Dakota boarder where the state is completely flat. Yet, the cabin is in a mountainous region where town is in a “valley,” which indicates it is indeed on the west side of Montana within the Rocky Mountain Range. The airport more likely to be used near Yellowstone National Park (which does have a “Snowshoe Pass” nearby) is in Billings, MT and for Glacier National Park it would be Kalispell, MT. It might be good to look at a map if using real locations and city names.
Her Secret Billionaire Roommate by Bree Livingston (4 stars)
Ms. Livingston just gets better and better! This story really touched me. There was a sincerity in the insecurities and heart-break her characters were suffering from. It was lovely to experience them peeling back layer after layer of pain until they were open and ready for healing and love to fill the void.
A wonderfully romantic plot with down-to-earth, realistic and likable characters. One of the “villains” was slightly over the top, but it helped cement the trust between the H and h and so it worked.
As with all of Ms. Livingston’s books, the kisses are amazing and yet she keeps it clean. Her characters love each other enough to reign in their passions and really get to know one another before taking it to the next level which, happily enough, means marriage. (The best HEA, at least in this reviewer’s humble opinion!)
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
Livy and Gabe each have their own insecurities, and when each for different reasons end up in the same cabin and snowbound. Livy lost her parents at a young age and went into the foster system. She was separated from her twin sisters, who now aren't interested in getting to know her. Livy was mistreated at one foster home by the son who was jealous of her, and he lied about what happened.
Gabe is a CEO and he is overwrought trying to run the company as well as his father did and ends up with some health problems as a result. His mom sends him to the cabin to rest as she is worried about him.
At first these two don't get along-he because it is their family cabin and wasn't supposed to be rented out and she because of his attitude. But I like how they start to gradually warm up to each other and spend part of the time together. Livy's publisher sent her to the cabin to finish the book she has due, which has been hard as she has writer's block. Her time getting to know Gabe gives her inspiration for the book and she finishes it while they are snowed in.
Gabe and Livy are both down to earth and likable characters, who are realistic and forgiving. They find peace and start falling in love.
Gabe's family is great and they all like Livy a lot. I want to read more in this series.
This was such a great romance! I don't normally go for sweet romance, as it tends to not be as captivating to me as steamy stories. BUT, this one did a fantastic job of having attraction between the characters (obviously still without getting any kind of graphic, so no worries there if you were worried about that), feeling sincere, and the characters each had their own very different backgrounds, yet it took no stretch of the imagination to have them be absolutely perfect for each other. I found the female MC, Livy, to be especially relatable. I don't share any of her background, yet I do share most of her wounds and insecurities.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book! I would have liked a little more at the beginning and ending... it felt a little abrupt both ways. Other than that, though, it was the perfect read!
Romance, sweet, contemporary; series but standalone read Livy and Gabe’s story was an accidental meeting at his families’ cabin. She rented it Gabe’s family unaware it was rented, and when she showed up, Gabe was angry, hurting with a migraine, and resisting her presence, but allowing it due to temperatures and an impending snowstorm. Proximity and time had them building a friendship and attraction. They both opened their hearts to each other, building something more than just acquaintances as they connected. Lovely sweet story, and sweet fall as they both shared their pasts and dug into their pain. Sweet, but with string MC’s and lovely setting. Loved the back stories and how it pulled them together and their healing for when they both shared their pasts.
Trapped by a snowstorm due to a mix-up, Gabriel Saxon, billionaire, and CEO of Saxon Publishing and Bestselling author Olivia Weber are forced to spend time together. Gabe and Livy are such down to earth, realistic and likable characters with such forgiving hearts. Livy’s feeling of never feeling wanted, from years of growing up in foster care and Gabe’s sense of never measuring up to his dad’s high standards. Trust does not come easy for either one, but as they begin to open up, they can overcome their past and find forgiveness. Well-done! I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Famous writer Oliver Weber has writer's block and rents a cabin in Snowshoe, Montana to write her overdue book. At the same time Gabriel Saxon, CEO of Saxon Publishing takes 2 weeks to travel to his cabin (now rented to Olivia) to reduce his stress. They reach the cabin about the same time and Gabe is livid to see Livy there. But a snowstorm prevents both of them from leaving. Livy is working under a different publishing company that Gabe now is sealing a deal to buy! Can things get any more confusing? Add her cuteness and his handsome charm and you are in for a wonderful read~ (Best Book of the series!)
I loved everything about this book! It's a heartwarming & emotional story. Gabriel, a successful publisher, is past exhaustion. He's has been told to take a break. Olivia, is a bestselling author. Her life is a mess because of a bad relationship. Livy's words are blocked. Her agent & friend, sent her away to heal & write. When there's a knock at the door, Livy never expected to see the most gorgeous man, standing there. It ends up someone made a big mistake, & Gabe wants her gone. You will adore Gabe & Livy's story. It grabbed me by the heartstrings, & never let go!!!
4 stars I purchased a copy of the novel Her Secret Billionaire Roommate: A Clean Billionaire Romance book 6 by Bree Livingston and this review was given freely. Ironic. Two broken hearts find peace and love while stranded in a snowstorm. New York publishing company CEO Gabe Saxon takes a mother enforced two week stress break from work and his social climbing ex in his quiet Montana cabin in January only to find his assistant rented the cabin to the heartbroken struggling writer Livy who happens to write for the publishing company Gabe is trying to acquire.
My first time reading this author. Gabe goes to his family cabin to get some much needed rest only to find Olivia there. Unbeknownst to him his assistant rented out the cabin to her. There is a snowstorm and so Olivia cannot leave. Gabe let her know she stays in her corner while he stays in his but of course this a romance and over a period of days they get to know each other. Both are dealing with extremely past bad relationships and have to overcome their emotions to see the attraction and caring that has come up between them.
I've read a couple snowed in romances this winter and wasn't sure how I'd feel about another one, but I loved this book. Gabe and Livy are such wonderful down to earth people. They get off to a rocky start, but soon start to build a friendship. I loved the way Gabe and Livy interacted together and how they trusted each other. It was also beautiful watching them overcome their past challenges and find forgiveness. A beautiful story!
This story reminds me why I don't really like reading contemporary romances. Way too many steamy kisses and lap sitting (even in a restaurant), and looking at each other lustfully - ugh! How many times do I have to read about someone filling out their jeans just right??? or having curves in all the right places??? I liked the story until they realized they liked each other!
Can't call it clean, but up until I quit reading I didn't run into any bad language at least!
There was a story for me to enjoy but it somehow got lost on the repetitive woe is me cycle. I get it you both got your heart broken but come on how much do we need to read about it. I don’t know who vexed me more Livy or Gabe. It’s like they had a competition of who could be more sad and untrusting. Don’t get me wrong they were nice together but to fall in love within two weeks. And it was so clean like so clean that sometimes it felt like a friendship.
This sweet romance is a lot of fun to read and carries a message of forgiveness, understanding and learning to value yourself enough to walk away from the people who are toxic. Learning to stand up for yourself and to open your heart to new things and people. Both characters are hurting and need someone to listen to them without judgment and just be there. As they get to know each other and share their thoughts and feelings, love blooms.
Livvy was amazing. Fell I love with her immediately. Gave was a little late to the party, but he did get there. With the intensity of his feelings and the many intimate situations they found themselves in, it’s hard to believe he didn’t initiate a sexual relationship a lot sooner. Or at least try. He did prove himself in the end. The book was very pleasant reading.
Enjoyed this book, the only downer was there were a few pages missing. Other than that its a very good read. Livy and Gage were made for each other. Livy growing up in foster care and made to feel as she didn't belong; Gage fiancee left him at the alter, realizing her mistake tries to get him back. Livy and Gage meet at his family cabin where Livy's friend rented it for her but he or his family is aware of it being rented. A good read.
I love Gabe and Livy's story. Both are broken from caustic past relationships. Gabe is a high powered CEO of a publishing company and is on the verge of a breakdown if things don't change. His mom sends him to the family cabin in Montana but when he gets there, he finds Livy staying at the cabin. With a huge snow storm approaching, Livy is forced to stay and the two of them are snowed in with several feet of snow keeping them in close proximity. Great story!
An orphan finds a man who totally loves her and makes her feel safe.
Enjoyed being with this author. Gabe and Olivia was a love at first sight. Though Gabe was grumpy with her at first. Their love grew as they were snowed in. She felt safe with him. He wanted to be her knight for always. His family fell in love with her when they met her. Their exes were real jerks who they didn't need. Looking forward to Kathy love story. Also the continuation of Gabe and Livy story.
What a great book. I loved Livy and Gabe's story and did not want it to end! Livy had been through so much in her short life. Gabe was so patient (after his irritation wore off in his having to share his mountain cabin) with Livy. Thank you for your wonderful books, Bree Livingston, I will definitely be looking forward to what other great books you release.
Livy is renting a cabin to be alone and get some writing done. When Gabe arrives at his family's cabin, he is suprised and angry to find someone there. Then they get snowed in. When they get to know each other, they are both suprised that they have alot in common. Can their friendship go beyond the cabin walls into the real world?
I have read several of this series and for the most part have enjoyed them. This one has too much “oh woe is me” in it. Poor Livy no one likes her, no one wants her, no one loves her etc etc. it didnt help that Gabe is feeling sorry for himself too. i couldnt finish it but from past books i know it has a HEA.
What is it with some writers? Don't get me wrong but why is it that ya all write a good book, it keeps you excited and intrigued until the end! Here comes the epilogue, fast, but not thorough. I don't know how to explain it, did they go to Florida with her to check the orphanage, that kind of thing. It's like we are married now bye, bye!
I liked this book. It’s well-written, he characters are believable and you can feel the chemistry between them. There were a couple of times when I realised one had spoken but the paragraph continued with the ‘thoights’ of the other. The cover didn’t appea to match the story. It appears an Autumn book but the plot is a snowstorm. But otherwise it’s def worth a read.
This was a book I came back to day after day! It was so sweet and captivating! What with their pasts and current time together.. and learning about each other and their worth. Ah... and then ooo so much tension built up! But it was worth it!!! Author did a great job at providing CLEAN STEAM. Oooo was it steamy! 💞💞
