Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Biography

Rate this book
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is an Old Trafford legend. He blazed through a decade at Manchester United, scoring 126 goals in 366 appearances for the Red Devils. The Norwegian striker became famous for his uncanny ability to score in the dying minutes of important games, often coming on as a 'super-sub'—most famously scoring the last gasp winner against Bayern Munich to win United the 1999 Champsions League, and secure the famed trophy Treble—before moving on to new adventures as a manager in Norway, following a career-ending injury. And at the end of 2018, the circle completed itself: Ole returned to Manchester United, this time as the caretaker manager, stepping into the breach after the unhappy departure of Jose Mourinho, and winning eight games in a row to restore a beleagured United to stunning form. The Old Trafford faithful are once more singing his name loud and proud. In this informative and insightful book, sports writer Ian MacLeay charts the highs and lows of the Baby Faced Assassin's career, to provide an in-depth look at both the man and the striker who will go down forever as an icon in Manchester United history. It is a must-read for any sports fan.

As a Man United fan this book is a must read. Super informative to find out more about the career of a legend like Ole Gunnar Solsjkær.

Being a younger United fan, Ole was before my time. I remember him managing us in 2018 but at the time I didn’t know anything about his career other than that he played for us previously. This book made me realise what a legendary career he had and how much of a vital part of our history he was. I already really liked him from his stint managing United from 2018 and he had and still has my full respect, but this book made me an even bigger fan of the man. A true professional, United legend and a great role model.

The descriptions in this book are also incredible, each time it described a goal that he scored, I felt like I was watching it and knew exactly what the goal would’ve looked like despite the fact I haven’t even seen it!

This book is something every United player and supporter should read. Hell, I would like to toss or slap this book at some of the players in our club. Ole is sensational. What a legend!
The writing is okay. There were some parts that the writer highlighted a few other players and talked about them as though the book was not about Ole.

A nostalgic look back on a legends career, a good read for a Manchester United fan but poorly written in parts.
