”Shane is my stepbrother; he's family and strictly off-limits.”
Shane Prescott is a fun-loving omega with a knack for landing in trouble. He prides himself on efficiently running the waitstaff at his brother’s restaurant, Kamasouptra. Between his brother-slash-bestie, Keith, and his dog, Rocky, Shane doesn’t need anything else to make him happy. Love would be nice, but that ship sailed the day his mom married Keith’s dad.
Keith Anderson is focused on two things: making Kamasouptra the premiere place to dine in Hollydale and not giving into his feelings for his stepbrother. For the past several years, his life has been running smoothly to the point of being in rut. Keith’s life begins to change when an offbeat old lady befriends him and starts to make Keith think that it’s time to alpha up and chase what he really wants.
Between a smarmy food critic, April Fools pranks gone wrong, and two helpful old coots who dispense their unsolicited folksy wisdom to the brothers—you’ll be in stitches as you root for a pair of men who are so busy trying to follow societal expectations that they’re oblivious to the clear signs that maybe… just maybe… they were never meant to have a brotherly relationship in the first place. Things are about to change in major ways for this pair of stepbrothers, if they can just be brave enough to take a chance for happiness.
Return to the world of Hollydale with a quirky romance full of all the fluffy feels that you’d expect from a Hollydale novella. This is the eleventh book of The Hollydale Omegas series but is absolutely able to be read as a standalone. This is a 32k novella and definitely contains an HEA. 18+ readers only please! And yes, this book contains M/PREG, adults adulting in sexy grown-up ways, and way more than an occasional use of potty mouth language.
I'm a total fan of M/PREG Paranormal Romances, first and foremost as a reader. I'm excited to share my own omegaverse(s) with you. What's not to love about adorable Omegas and the Alpha men who love them? If I'm not writing about men sporting baby bumps, I'm definitely reading about them!
I'm a native of Las Vegas, NV, so I'm pre-wired to love everything weird ~ although I don't find any kind of love to be weird. I'm a cis woman who's been happily married to the same lovable lug for 18 years. We have a 16yr old son, well, at least I think we do? Either that, or we have a ghost that eats all our food and uses up all wifi playing xbox while screaming into a headset.
As a new author, it's been amazing to find the amount of support that I've been given from readers and my fellow authors. Feel free to message me, I love to chat with fellow readers. Am I a reader? Heck yeah! In fact, I'm never certain that I can completely trust an author who isn't a fellow bibliophile.
I will try to update here when I'm doing promotional parties & chats. I usually do those on Facebook. If you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you should totally do it! I only send out NL's to announce new releases or important announcements. I also like to note in my NL what I'm currently reading along with a cover shot and the link for anyone who is interested.
This was book 11 in "The Hollydale Omega" series. Shane Prescott is a fun-loving omega with a knack for landing in trouble. Shane is the head waiter at his step-brothers restaurant, Kamasouptra. Keith Anderson is focused on two things making Kamasouptra the premiere place to dine in Hollydale and not giving into his feelings for his stepbrother. Keith was a friend of Gabe's they went to boarding school together so on April fools days he decided to play a prank on Gabe with Shane's help only a food critic decided to come to the restaurant things didn't go well and the reviewer Jordan left after one of the waiter's Trevor spilled soup all over him. When Shane went out with Jordan he took him to a weird restaurant it also didn't go well and when he got home Keith showed up and kissed him and that kiss ended with these two having sex and things turned weird for them. Shane and Keith are not related Shane's mother married Keith's father when they were in college. This was a good read I love this little town the people that are working to get them together turned out to be old relatives of them both. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I normally do not read any reviews until I have written my own. For some reason this time I read others first and was sorely disappointed in people narrow mindedness and their odd objections. this whole series is fun, with overtones of paranormal beings. It's fun, it's fiction and in no way are step-siblings incestuous. Yes its its a short fast read they all are in this series and light reading at that. That is part of the charm, when you have had a bad or heavy day you can pick up a book in this series and be sure it will end happily with a new couple and a new baby. It will bring a lighthearted end to any day. This is another short fun and quirky series with just the right amount of heat and romance. If you want serious literature go elsewhere, don't pick an mpreg and expect it to be serious. Rant over. I truly enjoyed this book. Well written with fun characters.
This is the 11th installment in the Hollydale Omegas series, you don't need to have read them all, although for maximum enjoyment, it might be best if you've read at least a few of the previous books. But if you prefer to read it as a standalone, all you need to know is that they're all sweet, fun, hot books with a paranormal twist to them.
Shane and Keith are stepbrothers, although, their parents only got together when they were in college, so they didn't really grow up together as such and even if they had, they're not blood-related so it's pretty much a non-issue. They've also been friends since they were very young and had been on the verge of making a go at things before their parents decided to marry, which put a stop to anything happening between them back then. Now, years later, they're both working to achieve their dreams at Kamasouptra, with Keith as the chef/owner and Shane as the head waiter and in charge of making things run smoothly at the restaurant. It isn't until Shane starts thinking about dating that Keith starts thinking that he doesn't want to lose his chance with Shane, but is it too late now?
Okay, so I liked Shane a lot, but I wasn't too sure about Keith, especially after the radio silence after their first night together. I wanted to slap him silly and ask what the hell was he playing at. *sighs* Thankfully, they moved past that once they sit down with their parents and had an honest talk with them and things got so much better. Shane and Keith had chemistry and I loved their banter, but I kind of missed the being drawn to their scent element that had been prevalent in previous installments.
Anyway, this was a fun read, and a great narration by Drew Bacca, who's been doing a fantastic job with the series. So, even if it's not my favorite, it was still a good addition to the series and I have no trouble recommending it.
Even though I really enjoyed this quick read, I do have to make a couple of points...
1) The cover soooo doesn't match the story... grrr ;p 2) How exactly did the "vanilla spiced" part of the title apply to this story? At NO point did Keith, or anyone else for that matter, refer to Shane as him having that scent. The only times vanilla is even referenced was in conjunction with cupcakes and ice cream for an April Fool's prank (which went terribly wrong!) and Shane noticed the scent that the server at Whipped Pleasures was wearing was vanilla. That's it... vanilla spiced isn't even mentioned in the story! *headdesk* LOL!!!
As for the "brother" issue, let me say up front that I have HUGE "incest" issues and I NEVER read it, but that was not the case in this story and if someone had an issue with it that would be something that they might want to take up with their therapist! These guys were NOT even raised as brothers, so the "mental" issue wasn't even a concern, but having said that... they were both IDIOTS for trying to use the "stepbrother" card to make an excuse for NOT stepping up to the plate and just going for what they wanted... each other! Aww, but such is life in the world of FICTION!!! ;p
I think all of us would agree that we wish that the books in this series had a bit more content and flowed a little better, but the characters are just too sweet for words (although I am curious to see how we are going to be persuaded to love Jordan in the next book) and the humor is ALWAYS a wonderful break from the ups and downs of real life, so as I always say... I will count this as a "good read"!!! *grin*
I loved this book it was sweet and all the pranks made me laugh out loud and I loved helga and Alfie they were so wise while playing cupid to Shane and keith so all in all a sweet and funny romance
Vanilla Spiced Omega is the first book I've read in the Hollydale Omegas series. I was a little concerned about jumping in at book 11 but it was fine; it stands alone with no problem.
This is a stepbrother story, and I don't always enjoy those, but both of the MCs were grown before their parents met and got married. The taboo aspect was mentioned throughout the story but it wasn't in such as way as to beat it to death (which I don't like when it happens in pseudo-taboo stories).
Shane and Keith like to verbally spar with each other and that kept the story moving and gave it some really funny places. More than once I was literally laughing out loud.
This was the first book I've listened to by Drew Bacca and he did a great job. He truly performed the story and didn't just narrate it.
I will definitely be listening to more books in this series.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
Unfortunately, this story wasn’t for me. I couldn’t feel the connection between the two until literally the very end of the story. Because of not feeling the connection I felt that both Helga and Alfie were forcing both Keith and Shane to want each other. I wasn’t a fan of either Helga or Alfie.
What I did like about the story was both Shane and Keith. I thought they were sweet and nice. The pranks they got up to were funny making me laugh at times. I really liked Shane's date experience and of course his creative prank.
Drew Bacca did a great job. I think he’s perfect for these stories. His different voices really help bring the characters to life.
Keith and Shane are step-brothers, best friends and also secretly pinning for each other. However they are hesitant to puruse a relationship and reveal their feelings in the event that the other doesn't feel the same and their friendship and family is torn apart. But mysterious and wise advise givers provide both men with the gull to finally take a leap of faith - that maybe putting their heart on the line will allow them to get everything they've always wanted.
I love the step-brothers-to-lovers trope. This was a short and cute read with some meddling characters. It brought in some paranormal intrigue combined with romance. This is a great read for those looking for a short and fast novel.
Keith and Shane were friends first in grade school then reconnected in college as friends abt to figure out their love when their parents married each other. It threw a wrench at them but now two meddling great grandparents are going to make sure that these two are together.
It was funny and sweet I thought. Really loved the book and their friendship that turned into more. There no major drama that keeps them apart once pull their heads out their tails.
The pranks that are pulled I thought were funny. I was happy when their dad got the reviewer fired for what he said about them. Served the guy right. Keith's jealousy was adorable and the baby boy was too. I only wished for more baby time.
I know that this is just a novella short but I found it to have very little actual substance. Keith and Shane clearly love each other from the beginning but somehow never talk about it even after they sleep together. There’s no emotion and then all the sudden it’s like oh well you’re pregnant and I obviously love you so let’s skip all the sappy emotional substance and go straight to being a boring married couple. I usually love a forbidden love trope but this had no delicious deviousness to it so it was unsatisfying.
Readable for bored souls, but too short, inconsistent and the prying characters throughout the book make the storyline way too unrealistic... what's not necessary. With the ghosts or whatever they are ... the story is already f..... If anything, it irritated me and the poor development didn't upgrade anything. It's just another sparkless read.
The awful names and lewd conversations? What a bad taste! Happy that I haven't spent a penny on this.
When I see all the subjective ratings on this, I lose all faith in Goodreads' ratings. Readers nowadays don't possess any literary knowledge.
I was ready for a light fun read and Vanilla Spice didn't disappoint. As all of the Hollydale series there is always some help from the magical realm. And this time each man gets his own helper to help bring them together. I love the fact that these two already know what they want deep down but they are afraid to reach out for it. Sweet story and another HEA.
Okay so first let me just say, I have no problem with incest. What I had a problem is that they kept referring to each other as brothers. They are not brothers. They didn't grow up together, their parents got married while they were in college. So calling each other brothers got on my last nerve. I wish they would have been dropped sooner in the story. Anyway, they finally give in to their desires and Keith made it all kinds of awkward. The continuation of the April fools jokes was very childish. Then we went from okay you are pregnant and skipping all the closeness of a couple straight to an old married couple. Even through I didn't necessarily like this one, I still really enjoy this series because they are lighthearted and relatively angst free w/a side of "ghosts" helping each couple out. Then also, there was no mention of either of them smelling of vanilla like in other books. Those smells always leads to their mates.

AUDIO REVIEW Shane is a fun-loving omega who is always landing in trouble. Keith is focused on two things making his Restaurant Kamasouptra the best place to eat in Hollydale and not giving into his feelings for his stepbrother. Shane keeps running into Alfie, who is pushing him to date Keith, and Keith has Helga doing the same. Alfie and Helga are Match makers. When pranks for April Fools day go wrong, Keith is forced to reveal his feelings. Short sweet book
I just love this series! All the ghost that come along just in the nick of time to help our Alpha and Omega find their way and this story is just a perfect! Keith and Shane are stepbrothers but have been flirty since grade school but when their dad and mom got married they though that love wouldn't happen till one time! By the way this story is just full of laughs so set back and enjoy!
Another cute and fun Hollydale adventure. Glad to see Tom again too. This story was just what I needed to make smile. Ya gotta love the spirits helping things along to make sure the boys realize that love is so much more important than what some narrow minded fools think. Another YAY! for Susi.
Incest Isn't Best. I have loved this world but this is disgusting. Sure they aren't blood related but playing with incest is one step away from the real thing. Why spoil a good romance with revolting overtones of incest? Pick any 2 unrelated guys and write a romance that doesn't make me queasy and make my skin crawl. Don't desensitize people by pretending any flavor of familial sex is ok.
A really sweet story that definitely is setting up Jordan for his own story. I was hoping that Shane and Keith's parents would see the ghosts, but the photo reveal was very satisfying. The horrible restaurant experiences were hilarious. Of course Jordan thinks he knows best about food yet hasn't a taste bud in his head! Shane's mom is a force to be reckoned with.
I liked this story it had love, laughter and challenges for the main characters. No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Well described characters that is developed in to different personalities The storyline progresses nicely to a good ending and with a little surprise in the end.
Narrator: Clear pronunciation and read with feelings
I am giving this 3.5 stars. The stepbrother angle wasn't an issue for me, as they had known each other as friends since they were children and their parents didn't marry until they were in college, so they were not raised together. Their romance was cute. It wasn't bad, it was just an ok entry in this series.
This was such a cute book. I was laughing out loud throughout most of it. Especially those April fools jokes. I loved that the angst was practically non existent, so it was a nice way book to sit back and relax to.
Loved it. The humor you expect from these books is definitely there... And the mystery guests that lend a hand in times of need. Fun, sweet and sexy definitely there too. Love the characters and am excited to add to the Hollydale family. Definitely recommend.
Revisit Hollydale and all its quirky characters ghosts, romance and great pranks along with a momabear with a deadly fork . As usual another great Susi read can't wait for Trevor to tell his story thru Susi
Shane and Keith were just adorable. I loved the characters both living and other-worldly. This was a sweet story about not blood related brothers finding happiness. Great quick read.
What can I say?.. I still enjoy the series and revisiting Hollydale, but this book was too short, too fast. It skipped a lot. Like things happened in a couple of days, then time skip a couple of weeks, then skip 5 Months. The end. It was ok. But I wanted more. So I can't give it more than 2 stars.
