A Second Shot
I’ve gotten another assignment from my mafia boss: take out a rival crime lord. The problem is that once I see him, a weekend from years ago comes flooding back to my memory. I spent it completely wrapped up in his body and arms.
This job is like any other, I tell myself. I’m a professional. Plus, if I turn down the job, I’ll be the one who ends up dead.
But when I see him again, I can’t pull the trigger. He’s still a bad boy, cold, uncaring. But there’s something irresistible about him and as we spend more time together, that icy exterior starts to melt. I see that man I knew so intimately years ago.

I received an ARC COPY of A Second Shot: A Forbidden Second Chance Romance by Lexi Aurora and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
Just so you know, this author is awesome and I read all her books.
This story is a mafia story with lots of intrigue, un forbidden romance, manipulations and deceit, which is very normal behaviour in the « mafia or organized crime world ». As always Lexi you’re amazing 😉.
I really enjoyed this story, Rose and Alex are very powerful Together. They’re both part of a criminal world. He’s a criminal and she’s forced into the life of crime. They met years ago and had a very hot fling together that lasted a whole weekend. Then, bang, they never saw each other again until this new assignment. Rose is assigned to kill Alex or be killed in return, but they never forgot each other. All I can say, is I couldn’t put the book down until I read it completely; I was captivated from the beginning. Lots of action, intrigue, hot romance and deceit make this story a must « read »!

Bloody Romance

I really liked this story of Lexi Aurora. It is both a very good romance, with excellent characters but also a novel with lots of action, with the clash of two leaders of criminal groups.
Rose is sent by Oliver to kill Alexander, the two men opposing for the same territory. She had already approached him a few years before, and seduced him, then she left. When the time comes, she does not manage to convince herself to kill him and gets closer to him again. But Oliver's threats become more and more pressing, involving both Alexander's life and Rose's life.
I loved the character of Rose who is strong and tortured by threats to her life, and what they have to do to stay alive. The story is very well written, unpredictable, with characters who are not really honeyed heroes, but who on the contrary are capable of the worst.

Excellent mafia romantic suspense. The blurb helps readers to have some expectations about the story. Against her will Rose is ordered to kill Alexander who is the Boss of competitors. Rose struggles with it because she spent a romantic weekend several years ago with Alex. Alex recognizes her but she denies it so a cat and mouse game ensues with the stakes getting higher. Ms. Aurora did an awesome job developing the characters and storyline. Since it’s about mafia crime there is violence. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

Wow... This book had me in my feelings for sure!!! This was a great page turner with so much heat!!🔥 I enjoyed all the action this book packed!! This was a thriller, suspense and emotional roller coastal ride all in one!!! I loved Rose and Alexander chemistry in the story!!! Their relationship was fiery, naughty and playful I loved it!!! Great book!!! So addictive and your not gonna want to put it down!!! Can’t wait for the next book!! 😜I recommend this book!!!😊

An interesting story line although I did not find some of the scenes/statements feasible or believable. I would have wanted more in-depth about the characters.

A Second Shot, by Lexi, is everything you would imagine a Mafia romance to be. With an Author like Lexi, you can rest assured that she will provide a superbly crafted storyline with the realistic and compelling characters to match it. This Mafia romance is full of drama/intrigue that will keep you flipping through the pages, all the while, engrossed and captivated by the scenarios both Rose, as well as Alexander, find themselves in. They knew each other, intimately, years ago, and once again, they find themselves tangled up in each other in & out of the bedroom. There is so much more to this fast paced, beautifully designed release then just steam and heat (although that's always a plus). Rose is unwillingly placed in an awful position and the one man she wants... Well, he is the man she is supposed to destroy. Trust me that you are going to willingly find yourself completely enthralled from cover to cover. Thank you to Lexi, for yet another impeccable release.

I love Lexi Aurora's work! I read anything she writes and genuinely enjoy it.
Although I liked the plot very much, the characters were just 'meh', flat and not very credible. Alexander, big boss, goes into dangerous territory alone, multiple times, but pays a group of men for security?🤔
Rose, working for Oliver, other big boss, doing what? She appears to just be there to absorb his abusive behavior whenever he feels like dishing it out. Again, she's given a task, has ample opportunity to save her own life but doesn't do it. She accepts a job, has no experience, but proceeds to insult and defy her employer at every turn. But the shocker is Alexander lets her.
Sorry, couldn't connect with the characters and since they drive the storyline, I can only rate it as I see it. I did think the plot was a good one, just not executed well through these characters.

This story was ok. Alex is a criminal fighting against Oliver who has hired Rose to kill Alex. Having spent a steamy weekend with Alex in the past, Rose takes a job as Alex's housekeeper telling him she doesn't remember the weekend. However, the chemistry between them is hot and she finds she is unable to carry out the mission to kill him. Storyline not quite believable for me. Read an ARC for an honest review.

Don’t want to spoil but read this book about these characters and come to you own conclusions. I enjoyed their chemistry and was rooting for them to finally be honest and true.

If you like mafia books, second chance love stories and books with a twisted plot, this is a good one for you. Lots of action and a thriller along with tons of steam & great chemistry. It draws you in and keeps you reading to figure out if they will get their HEA. Well developed characters and enjoyable plot line. An easy one click.

Damn good!
Holy cr*p! This is one hot emotional roller coaster ride!
The chemsitry between Alex and Rose is combustible!
Sent into an impossible situation against a mans she has a past with, will loyalty, lust, love or fear win the day. Will one or both of them be alive at the end? Dangerous, sexy and wonderful characters make this a winner!

Rose is supposed to kill Alexander but instead falls in love with him. This is a story with a twisted plot. There is a crazy mobster scaring people and another mobster pretending to be scary. This all leads to a few mishaps and mayhem. Eventually the happy couple are able to extricate themselves from their troubles and start a second act.

Lately I found that I don't like a mafia romance so when I found out that this book is about a mafia boss's second chance, I felt "meh." And I think the story is in a slow pace, I feel bore while I'm reading it. This is why I give this book 4 stars.

Best book I have read from Lexi. Rival drug lords want to take each other out. Oliver plays dirty by sending Rose to kill Alex. Little does he know that the have a past. Alex remembers Rose from an unforgettable weekend. Will Oliver get his wish or will Alex and Rose pick up where they left off?

This is the story of Rose and Alexander. Standalone with HEA second chance read. Well written and the chemistry between them is good. Loved how the relationship between them grew and the dynamic. This is a fun book full of drama and intrigue with lots of ups and downs. Page turner.

I tried but this story just wasn't my thing. I just couldn't get into the characters or the storyline. It just felt kinda 'meh'.
