These books are very gripping, but also very graphic, don't read this if you are easily offended and don't like violence.
It gives a true account if what happens in a high security prison, including, rape, assault and suicide.
I have to say I was surprised to hear what really goes on in this settings, from pat downs and cell searches to full anal and oral inspections.
A true eye opening and insightful series of books.
A solid 4⭐⭐⭐⭐ (would of given it a 5, but due to the nature, it dropped a point), yes I know that's the nature of the book, but that's just my opinion.
There isn’t anything that is deep and thought provoking in these books. They are, however, interesting and fun to read.
And now a bit of self-shaming. The author goes to great lengths to hide what prison he works at. He succeeded so well that until I finished this book, I didn’t even realize what country he worked in. I had assumed the US (because I live in the US). Nope, Australia. I should have realized it isn’t the US because the prison is way too laid back to be maximum security here, but it just never occurred to me to question.
You have to read it to find out. I love the fact that Simon plans his stories by only sharing what he feels his readers want to know. Simon also shares all the different tasks of the job. Something you never will get from TV.
Interesting read but still has some grammatical issues and some of the stuff is repeating. I do find it interesting do to the fact that it is a different world.
I mean, being in prison is kind of mysterious and what's on tv isn't necessarily the right medium of knowledge, but I'm really enjoying this series, author has a good style of writing, easy to read with humor.
I’ve enjoyed this series so much and I cannot wait to read the next book. Those on the outside world have no idea what’s it like. Thanks for your diary entries.
