When Ava Beckinsale's parents discover their daughter's attraction to women, they decide a radical medical treatment is the only way to fix her.

When Ava finds out what's really happening during her sessions with the doctor, she runs to the only friend she has left, a retired MMA fighter.

With his help, Ava will reach for the only thing that hasn't been stripped away: her dream of forging her own career in MMA.

Where the only things that matter are the strength of your character, the size of your heart and whether you have the courage to get back up when you've been knocked down.

Despite everything she's endured, her true test will begin in the Cage. To conquer it, and everything life will throw at her, she'll have to learn: sometimes your biggest opponent is yourself.

I love writing adult paranormal fiction. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts... oh my. I've been writing since I was 11 but I've always been a dreamer... often getting caught staring off into space as I created stories in my mind.

One of my stories, Night Walker (Undeadly Secrets Series Book 1), won the 2017 Golden Stake Award at the International Vampire Film and Arts Festival held in Transylvania annually. I'm still quite chuffed about walking away with it after facing some great contenders.

Currently there are 6 books in the Undeadly Secrets Series, 3 books in the Undisputed (MMA Romance) series and 2 Independents short stories plus a brand new series beginning with Owned By The Mafia, released in 2023

I'm so proud of the fact both Undisputed and Unbroken both won the same award a year apart from each other. *TOP 50 INDIE BOOKS OF THE YEAR*

My favourite activities include spending time with family, watching my beloved St George Illawarra Dragons, popping into the movies for the latest blockbusters, going to the gym for my dream body. Or just a body. Anything, really.

Speerzie... book daddy. Baby daddy x 2. Simply irresistible

A Joyfully Jay review.

5 stars

Unbroken left me speechless. I read it straight through until it was finished (at 3:30 am), and when I got to the end, I realized I wasn’t breathing. It was so amazing, I’d sucked in my breath and held it until the final period.

I feel as if Unbroken is a roller coaster ride. It’s fast paced, exciting, and a little nerve wracking. The author has a great writing style. The story just flowed and there were no dull spots. The action grows and grows until the incredible climax (Have I used “incredible” already?). It’s like I was right there with Ava as she lives her life…training, fighting, and training some more. The fight scenes are nicely detailed. It’s obvious Aaron Speer watched a lot of MMA fights and did quite a bit of research. However, the descriptions don’t go over the top as to be overwhelming. The right balance has been achieved because I’m able to see the images in my head without having ever seen a cage fight myself.

Read Kenna’s review in its entirety here.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

I loved the premise of this, and it did have a lot of potential. Even the fighting scenes who I'm usually not the biggest fan of, had me at the edge of my sit, and it really did feel like watching a real match at times

However these are all the positive things I can say about this book, considering that the way the characters are written kinda ruins this for me.

There is a line between doing a deep dive into trauma and self destruction and literally making your characters trauma dump in nearly every page, and fill chapter upon chapter with new traumatizing events for the sake of what appears to be shock value. The book crosses the line too many times.

I also found some of the dialogue a bit too unrealistically cringe worthy at times.

Overall the potential was there but this isn't a book I'd recommend.

Wow! I’m loving this series! I don’t want to say much to give spoilers but I will say, this book is unbelievably a great book with some great fighting. I love most of the characters & the ones I don’t like, it’s with great reason. This book will break your heart & put it back together.

When I finished this book, all I wanted to do was thank Aaron L. Speer for delivering this magnificent story and taking the risk to step outside the industry standards and expectations, to offer us something DIFFERENT.

I dont want to give too much away of the story because I believe the best way to embrace this work of art is to dive right in and let go of all your preconceived expectations, to just follow Aaron in this... incredible journey.

Yes... I want to thank Aaron. Thank him for listening to the greater love story he had in his hands—one unyielding and powerful “voice”—and one that make us feel more than any romance can offer. He truly focused on the most important part of this book. One the readers can feel from the beginning, the vibe I got from this story that was so much more intense than two people falling in love.

This book IS about love, no doubt. One that we tend to forget too often. The greatest battle any fighter has to win in order to fight many more battles. This book is a true fighter coming to life—a story of strength, courage, persistence, a face off with Fear itself. And it broke me many times before putting me back together and leaving me with the greatest satisfaction of all. The satisfaction of reading something different, powerful and emotionally intense, consuming you in a way it rapidly becomes a page flipper. And considering all the risks Aaron took with this book, on every levels, I feel like telling him: Mission accomplished, Aaron. You changed something in ME with this book and there isn’t a doubt in my mind that it will do the same for many more.

He gave this book the most perfect ending. Full of love in its greatest form. The greatest connection we feel from Ava is with herself and I’m definitely convinced that people will see this beauty for exactly what it is: Love in way we all desperately crave. The strongest and most powerful one. Love of who you are, even through the choices you make that are not always perfect, and coming a lot stronger at the end because it wasn’t a fight against an opponent. It was a fight for yourself.

This book is a lesson of courage, life and will speak to every fighters out there who try every day to win their own personal battles.

It’s a five golden stars read and a book that will make you see beyond you own limits.

I want more stories!

Although this may be standalone book, and technically you don't HAVE to read Undisputed, you'd be missing out if you choose not too. This book is completely different from what you THINK it's gonna be about. You've read the blurb, and possibly a few of the reviews. So your interested. Ok. Well then great. Start reading. But, for those of you that are quote, still on the fence, the undecided, let me make it easier for you. This book is NOT your usual typical romance story. There is no yummy hero. No damsel in distress. Nope, none of that. And honestly,if that's what your looking for, keep looking. But if you want an interesting read. A story that will stay with you long after your read the words the end, you've just got the jackpot. This is the story of one woman's fight. Both in the ring as at least Aaron's version of an MMA fighter, but also as a daughter. A lover. A friend. And maybe most important of all, as a human being. Ava will.make you take a good hard look at yourself. Your judgements of yourself and those around you. Not to mention, of how the world sees YOU. I laughed at this book. I've cried with it too. Thru it all, one thing kept repeating to me, how in the world does he draw you in so far to these stories! Your not simply reading a book, a story, your reading someone's life. Maybe it's fiction. Maybe it's someone's true life story. Maybe it's neither. But the one thing I do know, is that I want to read more!

There are very few books that have left me feeling as Unbroken did. This is not a book to race through, frantically turning pages to see what's next. Instead this is a book that you really need to take your time with, to spend as much time as humanly possible on every page before moving to the next.
Ava's story is thought provoking, an emotionally charged read and a conversation starter. The author has invited us into a world, where many readers will have strong reactions. I know I certainly did! At times I literally wanted to throat punch so many people and at others I found myself silently crying.
There are no stones left unturned in Ava's story, none. The author has turned over every stone, wiped the dirt off it, polished it on his shirt until it shines and then replaced it with care. He has handled certain topics with care, while not shying away from the human responses those topics evoke.
Ava's story is one that will stay with me for quite some time. I only hope that the message that can be learnt from her journey reach those who need to hear it- NEVER EVER GIVE UP.

I dove into Unbroken without a clue as I had no expectation other than a foray into the wild world of MMA, of which I am a huge fan. Speer grabbed me by the throat and threw me to the mat as I felt all the ways for Ava, watching her repeatedly knocked down by life, only to rise, each time stronger than the last. Speer writes the universal need for unconditional love from a deep place that anyone can identify, but also from a female perspective that is eminently relatable and at the same time inspiring anyone to protect the important things in life. The story unfolds on the mats but really transcends to paint a picture of courage, determination, perseverance and a staunch love of self that connects in a world where it is all too easy to simply disconnect. I finished the last page, inspired and moved and emotionally wrung out. I climbed out of the cage ready to take on the world, or at least ready to grab my own shot at a second chance. Keep pushing, keep working, stayed focused!

Speer has done it again, with this hard-hitting MMA story. This book brings you strong women, controversial subject matter and all the feels. The way the author handles the sensitive subjects while not shying away from them is perfect and the blow by blow action in the cage makes you feel like your right there getting front row seats to all the blood and gore that comes from an MMA cage fight. This might just be my favorite MMA book yet.
This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading book 1 so you get the back story of some of the secondary characters plus book 1 is great. The main character Ava is a young woman coming of age trying to find her place in the world while dealing with obstacles, heartache, and betrayal. If you don’t read any other book this season, you must read this book, go one click now, you can thank me later.

Head Held High

This book is about Ava. In the beginning of this book Ava is 17 years old and just finding her way. She is in a relationship with Jasmine, the daughter of her parents best friends. After they are caught together everything falls apart. Her mother is extremely homophobic. I loved this book. But hated to see what she had to go face. Thankfully she had her own made family to back her up in most everything. It makes me sad to say it was because of her sexual orientation. This book isn't really a book with a lot of sex in it. It is more than that. It is a story about overcoming adversity. Facing problems head on. With your head held high. It doesn't have a cliffhanger ending. But it definitely is open to having more come from it. I highly recommend this book! Loved it!

Seriously... wow 😮

That was my reaction from page one. Then I read chapter one, and I was even more stunned. I actually ended up going back and rereading it to see if I just read what I thought I did.

Speer really knocked me on my butt with this one.

He gave me characters I hated, like passionately hated (the mother 🤬)

Then he gave me characters I fell in love (Ava’s saviours)

Then on top of that, he tossed in a side of MMA, a few favourites from Undisputed (book 1) and a heroine who’d been dragged through Hell, more than once but showed tenacity, resilience, determination and bravery (even to the point of stupidity).

Despite being unexpected, this was an outstanding book that definitely left a mark.

The author took a subject that some may see as by some as a taboo subject, created as storyline that hooks you in page after page. You go on an emotional journey with Ava, although it’s a book about MMA fighting it’s also about Ava, who no matter how much life keeps getting her down, she struggles but keeps fighting to come out on the other side winning.
Although the story is focused mainly on Ava, as always there is those side characters steal the show, that you love, the boys, Chris and Ruben, everyone needs friends like them.

I have no idea why I haven't reviewed this yet because I loved everything Mr Speer did with this book.
The love, the drama, the fighting.
The heartache, the forgiveness, the acceptance.

This isn't your typical fighter story. This isn't your typical romance. Aaron Speer tackles some seriously tough issues in this book, but he does it with finesse.

This is Mr. Speer at his finest.

Ava's in for the fight of her life which takes readers on an unforgettable journey both personal and professional that leads directly to the Cage.

Ostracized by her family and then abused by her therapist, Ava turns to her friends and her dream to help her survive. She’ll do everything she can to achieve her dream of being the next female MMA champion.

Faced with a daunting task, Ava refuses to back down and tackles her road to the Cage just like she tackles her personal life. Head on and with strength and tenacity. But, as her journey continues, she’ll come to realize that before she can conquer her opponents in the Cage, she’ll first need to conquer her her past and her issues with trust and self doubt.

Aaron L. Speer has done it again! Unbroken was an amazing coming of age story that is empowering to anyone who has ever felt put down because of their gender, their sexuality or their own self doubt caused by bullying and cruelty from others.

Ava is truly an inspirational character. She’s not perfect, and I love that about her because it makes her perseverance and achievements that much sweeter. I adored that when her family refused to stand by her she created a new family in her friends Chris and Ruben that would.

While I’m not necessarily a fan of MMA and don’t know a lot about it, I found the fight scenes and commentary to be spectacularly written. They felt real and raw and I really could imagine the action taking place in the Cage. I also thought the author did a great job with Ava’s hero and later opponent, Veronica Nash. She was the character I kind of loved to hate, yet still respected.

For fans of Aaron’s work you’ll love the connections to book one, Undisputed (and, no, you don’t need to read that to enjoy Unbroken, but you should read it anyway because it’s awesome). And, Undeadly Secrets fans will die for the Easter Eggs that Speer drops into this book!

Unbroken was unexpected, emotional & inspirational reminding readers to never give up on their dreams and to surround themselves with people willing to help you achieve them. 5 stars

There is a lot that can be said about this book. It deals with issues in the LGBT community, Domestic violence, women being treated differently and so much more. The author, even being a man, is able to see those things and gave Ava a voice. Gave her the power and heart to help her overcome so much. He did an amazing job.

We have a woman that against all odds stood up for herself, never let people try to change her, stood by who she was and didn’t give up, even in the face of defeat. More then once. Everything that she did in this book was hard. Being who she was, giving up on those who were supposed to love her, hurting because they didn’t love her, being hurt and defeated...... it was all so hard on her but she didn’t give up. She was inspiring because her determination never ended.

This book was also so much more then just about our main lead. There are characters that aren’t as strong as put main heroine but with her help, they are able to overcome their own issues too but to me, Ava takes the cake in this book.

Readers need to go into this book with no expectations. It’s not an easy read. Heck, there were aspects that made me want to stop reading and take a breather but I am so happy that I pushed passed them and read this book. I devoured it. It took me out of my comfort zone, touched on real problems in the world we live in and made me think. It was beautiful and just truly a story for the ages. I think women will get a sense of rightness reading this book. It will help them feel strong and overall make women realize that even when you lose..... don’t give up. You be the best you that you can be and you will always win.

There is a lot that can be said about this book but it’s not easy to find the words. I’ll leave this review with this. If you want a book about a woman taking her life into her hands..... a book that shows many sides to the same coin...... a book that is awe inspiring, then this is the book for you. This author gave me a journey that totally stole my heart even when I didn’t think it was possible. 5 stars #2OCCJD

An outstanding, mind blowing, tidal waves of emotions story that broke me and put me back together again!!!! OMFG Aaron, I wasn’t sure that you could write a second MMA story that even compared to how much I loved Undisputed but here I am at a compete and utter loss for words!!! It is AMAZING!!!! Unbroken hit me like a ton of bricks from the very first chapter and kept me guessing till the very end. I was so overwhelmed with love for Ava and all she has been through and endured. Yet, she was so strong, so brave and completely UNSTOPPABLE!!! I read this book in one day and it has taken me four days just to put my emotions into words and I am still reeling from the profound impact this book has had on me. The moments of despair that Ava had was nothing compared to the moments of determination and clarity when she realized that she could do any and get past anything she set her mind to.

I truly enjoyed all characters in this book even Veronica Nash!!! She was truly an icon in the fighting world and her desire to win was admirable. Ruben and Chris are such an amazing support system and the best couple. They won me over immediately. I was disappointed however in Jasmine for her inability to stand up for herself. To go after what made her happy yet I completely get why she did what she did in the end.

This book had so many wow moments for me and the tears fell so many times. The children that showed their love and support to Ava in the hospital gutted me, I cried so hard!! Even at the end, the final fight I was terrified to read. I wasn’t sure what was gonna happen and I felt anxious and nervousnto know. I almost had to pause from reading to control my anxiety.

Unbroken is by far one of the best books I have read in a long time. I cannot yak enough about how much I loved it and Ava. You have my many thanks Aaron L Speers for being this story into my life. I cannot wait to read more from you!!!!!! XO

If you’ve read the first book and loved it, know that this story is very different. You’ll still love it, but your heart will go through the wringer in so many different ways with this one. Anger at what Ava goes through. Frustration for Jasmine and her situation. A few twitchy moments where you can’t believe what the characters have to endure but it all flows so well. Tension and suspense during fight times. Excitement and relief. Maybe a few tears. Love for Ava’s family of Ruben and Chris. SO. MANY. EMOTIONS. I wouldn’t exactly classify it as a romance story. There are romantic feelings and actions that are central to the story, but it’s so much more real and gritty and raw. It’s about a girl who goes through hell and who’s afraid she’s broken but wants what she wants, gets crumpled and crushed into a bloody pulp, and raises again because she’s strong and fierce and vulnerable and amazing and trusts her gut instincts in the ring and life. It’s your typical Speerzie story in that it’s unlike anything he’s written before, just as unique and amazing and different as every other story he’s written.

I went into this book with an open mind and was not disappointed. It took me way longer to read than the norm but a lot of the subject matter brought forth some unresolved issues of my own and had me in tears. So I took my time with reading and really got to understand the determination and strength of Ava.

Now there was a bit of a I guess language barrier as I'm from the States and Aussie slang and terms are a bit lost on me but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Ava had to endure ridicule and shame for her sexuality, I can somewhat relate to that being from the southern states of America that's known as the bible belt, I felt the same shame when my sister outted me as a bisexual. Then to have someone you are supposed to trust to subject you to more trauma by mental and sexual abuse?! I clicked with Ava so much.

I admire the tenacity she had, the strength to keep going. She was brave and bold and to face her fears the way she did, was beautiful. All women should read this and be inspired by her that no matter what you face in life, it's how you choose to handle it that defines who you are! ❤️❤️

I went into this book expecting a typical MMA romance but that was not the case as all.
Unbroken took hold of my heart early on and I laughed and shed a few tears while reading Ava’s story.

Ava goes through hell and back over and over again, yet she will not give up. No matter what happens or how bad it gets she is absolutely unstoppable, especially with “ her boys” by her side.

Her heart and strength to continue even in the worse of times hit close to home for me. Her ability to not back
down from what she really wants is admirable.

Speerzie absolutely nailed it! The writing is absolutely phenomenal. This is the first time a book has ever popped me in so deep and made me feel so connected to the characters. I cannot wait to see what’s next.

Speerzie knows how to gently pound emotion into every part of a story. It's what makes you feel like you're intimately involved in what's going on. Ava is the perfect broken heroine with her two guardian angels. The ups and downs she has to go through to find herself will resonate with all of us who have struggled with family issues and searching for our place in the world. I love how there are so many plot points left unresolved, but by no means is there a cliffhanger at the end. There are also an abundance of Easter eggs that are fun for those who have read all of Speerzie's books. I can't wait to see where he takes this story next.

This was SO MUCH more than just a MMA book for me. As a mother of a teenage daughter who is part of the LGBTQ community, this book made me have all the feels. It made me see the daily ridicule and fear my child faces every day but it also helped me see ways that I can help her over come those.
This is a fast paced, page turning book that will have your attention from the very begining. It is full of love and heart wrenching emotions that will put your heart through the wringer but it is soooo worth it!!
This is definitely a story that will stay with me forever!

Wow! I'm in awe of this author, this book, this story! There are so many outstanding details that make this story unforgettable for me. The writing alone was exceptional, distinct, unique, and kept me hooked onto every last word. This is a phenomenal story about MMA fighters and there are many great details about the sport and it is action packed. Ava's strength and determination touched me on many levels and she's a very inspiring character, with courage and perseverance. I found this story to be greatly inspiring and absolutely brilliant and one that will stay with me for a long while.

Let me start off by saying truly one of the best MMA books I have ever read. Ava is the most determined and strongest female character I have seen in a long time. No matter what horrible adversity she faces she keeps pushing forward. She may get beaten down but she fights her way back up. The dynamic between her, Reuben and Chris is unlike any I have seen before. I cried, I laughed and I cursed Aaron L Speer for many things in this story. It is one for all the feels. A true must read !

“Life always puts us down. We choose how we get back up, if we get back up at all. Ava chose to get up with a shrug and a smile. Life hit hard, but she'd been hit harder. And, though wobbly, she still stood.”

Unbroken is the second installment to the extraordinary Undisputed 2 Book Series! This novel has so many FEELS in the middle of a fast-paced, action-packed gem of a story where the author has opened the door to an emotionally charged world, one that focuses heavily on the struggles one faces in the LGBTQ community. Our individual struggles differ, but we all have a stake in this fight.

“Sometimes, despite the best intentions, people drift back towards each other but don't fit the same way. It was sad but not the end of the world. She couldn't change for anyone. Love, true love, no matter how hard, didn't work like that. Compromise should never cost each person who they were inside.”

Speer delves into quite a few sensitive topics, tastefully handling each one with care. Ava is dealt so many blows before she even steps into a ring, it’s a wonder she has any fight left in her. That goes to show you how much character this girl has. Abused by the people who were supposed to protect her, Ava’s journey is an inspiration to never give up and follow your dreams.

I recommend this novel to those struggling to make it in a system that exploits and discards the unique, those who are devalued because they are different. What a boring place this world would be if everyone was the same...

Unbroken - Undisputed Book 2 - Aaron L Speer

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Singularly one of the best books I’ve ever read!!

Though this story is classically in the MMA genre, Aaron L Speer has also delivered an incredibly powerful and gut wrenching story of love, compassion, understanding and sheer determination.

Ava Beckinsale knows what she wants. Forthright and brash in her opinion, she’s pushed to breaking by her family and gives in to their twisted ideals. Until the day she realises that their ideals are not who she is.

She begins a journey of self discovery under the guidance of her friends, mentors and coaches, Reuben and Chris who will support her in her struggle to the top of the MMA ladder. Her life’s dream, her passion.

With so many tragic pitfalls along her journey, Ava builds the readers respect and admiration for her perseverance and for never quitting her passion or abandoning those that truly love her and support her.

Heart wrenching at times, anger inducing in its complex social issues, which Aaron L Speer handles with brilliant finesse, but totally inspirational in its message. This story will stay with me for a very long time and I will happily sing its praises at every opportunity.

Now I’m heading back to the Cage, to read Undisputed. Yeah, yeah, I know.... read these in reverse order but I’m totally hooked. Thanks Aaron L Speer...... great story.

This story of MMA fighters has all the detail and action that a fan of the subject will enjoy. It is a well-paced, can't put it down drama that begins fast and stays engaging. But soon into reading, you will discover that it is so much more. The main character not only wishes to win at the sport but to repair a broken life. The reasons I will not speak of other than to say that some will find it controversial. I have read all of Author Speer's books because he is a consummate storyteller who does his research. But how he managed this, I will forever wonder. The depth and emotion are not only gripping but wholly realistic. He is an award-winning writer but with this book, he shows himself to have uncommon sensitivity. I give this book my highest recommendation. If you have had struggles in life, this story will inspire and uplift you. Don't miss it.
