Suddenly, I'm selected by the Goddess to hunt down a mythical locket needed to save the world from destruction. The only person who actually tries to help me is the alarmingly attractive Tennessee. He has immeasurable power and breathtaking mismatched eyes. I'm drawn to him on a level I can't explain...and he's forbidden from getting too close to me.

When the quest takes an unexpected dangerous turn, I have to improvise. This supernatural world is unraveling at my fingertips and I need to master my magic fast. If I don't, I could get everyone I care about killed...

Hmmmm... I liked it well enough but some things bugged me a LOT.

> The Tarot Card aspect was interesting at first. But after a while, I grew tired of how often it was referenced.

> I would’ve wanted more focus on the two MC’s, Tennessee and Tegan. BUT there were SO MANY secondary characters that, imo, they proved to be more of a distraction than good support. We had Em, Deacon, Cooper, Bentley, Hunter, Devon, Henley, Royce, Libby, and Kessler just to name a FEW! And sometimes these other characters got chapters from their POV’s too; which, honestly, I found totally unnecessary and even broke up the pace of the story for me.

> I really liked Tennessee, the main hero. Tegan, the main heroine, not so much. As the series progressed, I found myself getting annoyed at her demeanor/behavior instead of finding her kickass or cool.

> Sometimes the feel of the book was too YA, almost immature even. And sometimes, the book feels like it’s bordering on more new adult territory. Shrugs. I just found it odd.

Awesome

I accidentally read the Academy of Magic series first and then found out about these so I had a bunch of spoilers but this was still an awesome series! I can’t wait to see what happens next!!

I truly enjoyed this series. Growing with Tegan and Tennessee getting their relationship to progress while they're hiding it was riveting I couldn't put the book down learning all the back history in the prophecy while completing quest was so exciting and fun great read for everyone

Just a mishmash of thoughts after reading all six books.

Tegan and Em are absolutely furious at their parents for the deception of keeping them apart most of their lives so one would expect a major showdown. Nope, next thing you know they’re just one big happy family. Also, how and when did Bentley get conceived? Somebody bumped uglies at some point while living apart.

So why were Tegan and Em kept in the dark all those years? I’m up to book 6 and there’s yet to be any kind of explanation. There must be a reason and pardon me for wanting to know what it was. I’m assuming some kind of prophecy but a little clarification wouldn’t hurt. You’d think the powers that be would want them better prepared for a big battle instead of figuring it out as they go.

Tegan gets a text from her best friend saying she’s coming for a visit that never seems to materialize. No cancelation is mentioned.

I’m super irritated at the threat of people’s magic being taken away when they have absolutely no control whatsoever over the soul bonding. The non-dating rule is finally explained. Pretty stupid based on an incident that happened 300 years earlier. Why is Cooper in such a snit about Tegan and Tenn? He barely knows her and hasn’t been a part of either the girls or his parent’s lives. Sixteen isn’t too young to be making out with a boy even if he wasn’t her soulmate. Now, having sex at 16 is a different story, especially when there isn’t word one about having safe sex.

Why isn’t the Empress paired with the Emperor?

Nice twist in book 4.

Sure takes the group a long time to remember that several members are missing after disappearing in the Seelie Court tunnels.

Overused: “Feisty. I like it.” "smirk/ed/ing", “Babe" - This group is too young for Sonny and Cher. “I’ve got you, babe” is actually used at at least once. The jury’s still out on “Kitten” since stupid pet names are a personal irritant.

Glad they didn’t forget Henley.

The Coven: Elemental Magic Series(DNF)

Rarely do I ever DNF a book, but this one unfortunately for the life of me I could not continue past the first story.

Combining six novels into one, this series follows our heroine who discovers her place as not only a witch, but one of the most powerful witches ever existing. She, alongside her group of witch friends, are tasked with finding mythical objects to save the world from destruction.

A myriad of factors led me to DNF this novel - the oversimplicity in the storylines, the forced emphasis of the romance between the main character and her saviour who "are destined to be together but for the good of the mission, can't", and the lack of detail during scenes where you'd expect more from (i.e. battle scenes).

I mean the first time our heroine makes eye contact with the male, she quite literally rolls down the car window and yells her name at him so he can find her … I mean what ? Barely two sentences of lines were spoken and she's already head over heels in lust.

I fell victim to the raving Amazon reviews, but ultimately after a week and only barely making it through the first of six stories, I gave up and returned it. Lesson learned to not impulse purchase and to do thorough research my friends.

I don't rate books I don't finish. I read a little over the first book before I couldn't take it any longer. Based on the stars, I thought this would be better but I hated it. I wanted to got Tegan for being silly and wanted Emm to be more of the main character. Everyone needed more personality and the magic needed to be fleshed out along with the world building.

I bought this book hearing the sample and thinking it would be decent, I was wrong 40 hours (I did accidentally skip a few chapters and didn’t notice till I was basically done with the book because it was so repetitive so more like 35) of listening to the same voice telling me who’s eyes were green thirty times and speaking like she’s reading a wattpad story. I finished it because I don’t want to waste my credits but my god how badly I wanted to never listen to it again.
The MC is 16 and met her soulmate? That’s how we start if she was in her 20s some of the scenes might have been less awkward and distasteful but this is a child and I’m hearing graphic scenes about her make out sessions. And the whole him being her soulmate thing felt like a huge shortcut, a main issue in the beginning is the fact that she is forbidden to be in a relationship but since their soulmates then oh well let’s ignore that and many times when she was in danger she got safe because of her glif. Taking away so many chances for her to look like the badass she was supposed to be. And him being her adopted cousin?? Even if it’s not by blood that’s such a weird thing for the writer to add into a book could you not have said his father just took took him in and he lives on his own now or just pull in another father figure to the mix to keep the relation separate from two people who are doing non cousin activities. Also how did Bentley happen? Tagen and her sister were split as babies and their parents were separated since then so were they together and one day her father just brought home a random baby with no explanation on where he came from?? Was he only a half sibling because their parents are also soulmates so I have a hard time thinking he got with someone else. All of this was a mess there were many plot holes and I am so glad it’s over.

Apologies if this is incredibly confusing I have not had coffee yet!

I actually started this series a bit by accident. I started book 1 of the series that follows this one (I think its Academy Magic - but not positive) when I realized not too far into that book that there was WAY too much information already established and that there was no way that there had not been prior books. So, after a bit of investigation, I found the series that started it all.

There are six books in this series and they introduce us to “The Coven". In this world, there are witches (both male and female) and of course, magic. The Coven is made up of the 22 people who match the 22 designations on a deck of Taro cards ( i.e. The Emperor, The high priestess) These designations occur magically and with the death of a card member, another member receives the tattoo notifying them of their new membership. Each designee has unique magic, magic that is unique to their card and there is even a school where training occurs for magic in general.

So, the 1st book does a fairly good job establishing the world and introducing us to the characters. There are the definite MC's - both male and female - but there are also quite a few secondary characters (because there ARE 22 cards). The secondary characters rotate in importance by book, but the main characters are consistent throughout the series.

There is the storyline of forbidden love that is constant throughout the series. The two main MC's are not permitted to date for....reasons. Then there is the underlying story of the whole good vs evil plotline. (psst....the MC's are the good guys....)

I did enjoy this series. I found that as the books progressed, I tended to become more and more invested. I also felt like the storyline was a constant throughout and each book had a unique story arc that was completed within that particular book. But, there was still an overarching plotline that went throughout the entire series and it did tend to build as the books progressed.

All in all, it was a good series. I went through the 6 books quickly and felt content at the end. There is a secondary series (remember, I read the first book of THAT series) that I think actually runs concurrently during the same timeline as the original series ( not positive, but I think). I may take a break between books but want to eventually come back and enjoy this world a little more.

Fantastic series!

Tegan and Emerson twins separated at birth and their magic blocked, turn 16, and are marked with tattoos as the high priestess and the empress, are finally reunited but unaware of their beginnings. Will they accept their roles and fulfill the prophecy that is 300 years old to close the gap in Salem?
Will they cope with their new roles? Will they accept their soulmates? This series is one of the best I have read in this genre, a definite page turner with twists and turns along the way. I borrowed this series as one in kindle unlimited, a great decision. If you like this genre I would recommend this series.

Couldn't finish

Well the characters are poorly developed. The obvious life long lies told to Tegan don't seem to register. I know any teen suddenly find out she was purposely kept away from a parent and siblings for the good of the coven ; which she knew nothing about, said teen would blow a gasket...... So the main characters are unbelievable.

I'm surprised I finished this series honestly. The bones and themes are good- but I wish the characters were better fleshed out and adults instead of kids. I got really tired of the author using the same descriptions and sayings over and over "I licked my lips", "babe", "fisted his hair". It did keep me entertained but in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

Too YA, 16 years old characters..very immature FMC…too many side characters with their own POV’s. Author ignorant to what hurricane force winds…yeah nobody stand up to that…also hurricane force winds only happen at coastal locations since hurricanes come from the ocean…this is more tornado winds…just the ex military weather forecaster saying this….and total waste of my time…

First the positives: It has a new take on the paranormal, witches, and mythical beasts, shape shifters and even Dragons. I really enjoyed that.
Now the bad part: The vocals let me down. I struggled so much with this book set, and I had to give up just a few chapters from the end. The confusion between the characters, male and female, all with the same voice. I wasn't able to keep straight the person's point of view. I had to jot down every time it changed, Rewind back get the name start again. if I stopped to do something, I would lose who the chapter was about. Trying to remember which character is now speaking takes up too much energy. It is hard to enjoy it when every single character, male/female, sounds exactly the same. Oh, wait, Em has a southern accent sometimes. lol. Even the 9-year-old hierophant has the same voice as Teggan. Too many repetitive phrases around kissing, groping, etc.

I also had trouble with the fact they are all 15/16 years old, and it has a sexual energy and interactions that make it feel like they should be older for all that. With Tennesee Wilde being older, it felt like breaking the law with underage sex. Parents didn't really take a parenting role. I know its fiction, but let us not cross some lines on age and puberty. Yes, I am a prude.

Also, Note to the Author, Please do not name a character after a condiment. First, its Chutney, is Ketchup or Mayo coming soon?

Magic, witches,Faeries demons and so much more!

Wow.. I was hooked from the very first page! Although the story centered on Tegan and her sister Emersyn, the author gave us glimpses into all the other characters. Tegan is the High Priestess but only learns this after attending The Gathering and then having to move to Tampa.

There she discovers that witchcraft and magic does exist and she has a fundamental role in saving the world.

Tegan then meets her soulmate and has to deal with all the emotions and secrecy surrounding this.

Each member of The Cover is a card (as in the Tarot Cards) and therefore has special abilities.

The High Priestess and The Empress are the first twins born in 300 years and therefore sets the prophecy in motion. The Cards have to embark on quests and they meet danger at every turn. They are trying to save the work, a mission that the original twins failed to do as they turned dark.

Can Tegan and her soulmate Tennison, along with the rest of The Coven complete the quests without succumbing to the darkness, the Fae, the Vampires, the dragons and the demons?

These books were a fantastic read and had me gripped throughout! However, I was majorly disappointed that we didn’t find out the stories of Mrytl, Saffie, Leyka and Keltie. Let’s hope that the author delves into this in future books! Because I NEED to know!

Every book gets better!!

I absolutely love this author! She brings the characters to life. Not only are you invested in the main characters, but you’ll fall in love with so many of the supporting characters too. I laughed out loud and cried too!

I accidentally read the series in the wrong order and started with the 2nd season Academy Magic (because I found on recommended for you). Im the type of person that has to read in the correct order, so I was a bit aggravated that I didn’t check first, lol.

I love these so much that I am rereading all of them (in the correct order) and I picked up on so many things that I didn’t catch the first time.

Tegan and Tennessee are so great as the heroine and hero. I usually get annoyed with one of them in most book series I read. Either the heroine is too whiny or the hero is a total jerk u til he “comes around”. Tegan is spunky, smart and fiercely loyal and Tennessee is the perfect combination of strong male and sensitivity.

Be prepared to pull an all nighter... you won’t want to put this series down! ❤️

The Coven
5 stars for The Coven: Elemental Magic books 1-6 by Chandelle LaVaun. I loved this series so much. Teagan and Tennessee haven an instant connection. A chemistry that jumps of the pages. The book takes the story of Salem and the Witch trials to a whole other level. The idea of the Coven and how they are Tarot cards is completely different from anything I have read in this genre. Teagan and Emersyn’s role in this prophecy gripped me and would not let me go. I could not put the book down. The world that Chandelle LaVaun created in this series is original and intriguing. It makes the reader want to be a part of it even with all the bad stuff that is happening. I am hoping in future books we can learn more about Tennessee and his past. I would like to know more about him and his non-human qualities. All of the characters in this book were great, but Teagan by far was my favorite. She is a bada** heroine, who never backs down. I love that about her. I really can not say enough good things about these six books. I am ready to continue this series

Elemental Magic: The Complete Series (The Coven)

From the first chapter I knew I was hooked. I read this entire series ( 1-6) in about 4 days.

just finished reading this wonderful book series. I loved every single page because I was hanging onto every word. And was fascinated from one page to the next as to what was going to happen. I think the main characters were incredible. But Tegan was a spectacular heroine, main character , she shined so much..
The series is perfect blend of magic, mystery, action, and a touch of romance.

There are seven books in the series. And this one has 6 of the books, so you can immerse yourself into a very juicy world to escape into.
Looking forward to reading all books, but book 7 here I come!!!

Definitely recommend this series.. You will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed the books a lot. I have 1 issue though that irked me throughout the storyline. They separated the twins at birth and it even was commented on that mom and Teagan looked so similar, had mom had the chance to see who she would grow into, they would have switched the daughters. But if they were separated at birth, who is Bentley’s mom and if it is Devon, which is who it is, how come they didn’t realize that dad, who was raising this daughter alone, just had a son by himself? Bentley is 7 years younger than his sisters. The girls would have realized they were being separated from their twin at 7 years old. They would remember their older sibling and the other parent at 7. Stork drop him off? There whole thing would have made more sense if he was raised by mom. That could have solved them whole problem.

"The Coven: Elemental Magic" is a captivating tale that seamlessly blends fantasy and adventure. Chandelle LaVaun has crafted a story that is not only engaging but also rich in detail and imagination. The plot is well-paced, keeping readers hooked from the first page to the last.
One of the standout features of this series is the depth and complexity of its characters. Each character is meticulously developed, with unique personalities and motivations that make them feel incredibly real. The interactions between the characters are dynamic and believable, adding layers of intrigue and emotional depth to the story.
LaVaun's world-building is exceptional, creating a vivid and immersive setting that enhances the magical elements of the plot. The elemental magic system is well thought out and adds a fresh twist to the genre, making the series a must-read for fans of fantasy.

I came close to giving up before finishing all six books. The first couple were decent enough to keep me curious about how the series would end (very predictably), but the further I got, the more the main character grated on me. I also found myself mentally aging everyone up by about ten years just to make their behavior feel believable.

What bothered me so much that I couldn't stop thinking about it for another couple of books—and I’m still shocked it made it through editing—was the claim that characters “fell thousands of miles to the ground.” At that height, they wouldn’t be falling through the air… they’d be in space. And yes, I know it's a series about a Coven of witches, but you can't set something on "Earth" and not apply basic knowledge of the atmosphere.

And don't get me started on the covens disdain for "sapiens".

I'm my Goodness, This is now my very favorite box set !!!
I can't believe that I waited so long to start reading these books. They are AMAZING... The story telling is above all others, The characters and the way they interact with each other is spectacular. It has everything, Magic, action, romance, intrigue, mystery and a look into worlds that I've only dreamt about. I've read a lot of books and Boxsets and this is my absolute favorite. I am so happy that this is not the end of my journey with these characters. There is another series after this one and I am going to start on it as soon as I am finished with this review. I fully recommend this series and say rush to push the buy button because I believe that you will love this Boxset as much as I do...

Tennagan

I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this series is. There are multiple parts to this series. This is part 1 and I read this in less than two days staying up past 5am each night. That’s how amazing this series is. You will loose sleep over it and instantly become obsessed. So little snippet? Tegan is a teenager whose entire life has basically been a life. She learns that she’s a witch, she has a twin sister and a soulmate she’s forbidden to date in a matter of weeks. As if that’s not enough it’s up to her and Emeryson (twin sister) to close the gap between earth and the demon dimension. Join the journey and watch as Tegan learns her magic, her heart and even her family.
Then download season 2 and continue the journey with her best friend Bettina.

Incredible Elemental Magic Series

This was my first series, or book from, Chantelle LaVaun, and I loved it! This book is character driven, with a lot of magic and action tossed in!
This is a clean book, great for teens and adults. I would be writing all day if I tried to even give a brief overview of this series. But if I could have read it all in one day I would have! It’s a page turner!
I loved that all of the books were complete so there was no cliffhanger and then having to wait months for the next book!
Great writing, great characters, great magic, and lots of action and puzzles that make you feel as if you’re part of the Coven, as you are drawn in and included in the story. I highly recommend this book! Going onto my favorite book shelf!
