Etta Foster grew up in Maine and has studied Conservation Biology at Boston University.
Her studies and adventurous spirit led her to meet the love of her life in Lovelock, Nevada. She currently lives there with her rancher husband and their two teen daughters. She delights in writing about women who came also a century before her to find love in the West.
She got her first idea of a story while taking care of the horses with her loving husband. He was the one to push her not only in the actual riding but in the exciting ride of writing as well.
Except writing, she enjoys making wooden handicraft artifacts with the help of her two daughters who by the way, exceed her. Right now her daughters are teaching her how to connect with her readers!
It seems that everybody loved this book, but I can’t say I enjoyed. The characters needed more work and the plot dragged a little. I couldn’t really see the romance between Grace and Matthew. It was a rather boring reading.
The plot and characters are well developed. It is a heartfelt story filled with lots of twists and turns that held my interest throughout. It’s a story that’s well worth reading. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My free opinion. Thanks.
This is one of the best books I have read, the author is new to me. I was pleasantly surprised the book was well written, didnt have any lags like some books slow down and you lose interest. This as a very sweet and clean romance. I would certainly recommend this book to those that enjoy historical romances.
This is my second book by this author and her writing has grown substantially from that book to this one. They are both good books in the characters developed and the primary story that is being told. They both have very interesting, genuine storylines that draw you in and keep your interest throughout. Grace and Matt had everything going against them from the outset! Her father loses his daughter in a poker game, so a mail order bride was very appealing to her thinking. His mother, who is sickly, decided that Matt needs to marry before his mom passes, so she compiled a letter to send to Grace in Matthew's name! Just think where these two might be without their parents? (Sorry, it just made me smile!). Can these two possibly get past all that has taken place when they finally see and meet each other? This is a sweet, clean read that I would recommend. I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest, and completely personal review. Vicki from Wyoming
This is the first book that I have read by Etta Foster and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this clean romance. I loved how the main characters developed and so believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. This book contains romance, drama, intrigue, deception, fast paced story with evil villains. This book is the one that will keep you turning the pages! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, from cover to cover. The Extended Epilogue rounds out the story very well.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Grace Mathers knew she couldn't stay in Boston when her father (who had changed since her mother's death) lost her in a card game. She wanted nothing to do with the man she was suppose to marry following her father's card game. So in desperation she becomes a mail order bride. Matthew Tucker mother thinks it is time he married, so unbeknownst to him, she is writing to a Grace Mathers as Matthew and arranges the young woman to come to Oklahoma. Grace really needs this to work, but Matthew is filled with resentment and bitterness. Can this couple find love before it's too late? Even though I was given a copy of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion. These are my own personal views.
Action packed, fast paced, heart stopping story. Can true love overcome pure evil in a motivated villain? Can two people find a future together? Some content not suitable for all readers. Happy Reading!
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
If you like sweet and suspenseful romances you will love Grace and Mathew's story! Grace ran away from Boston and a bad situation and Mathew's mother is determined to see him married before she dies.
Grace run away from Boston. She become mail order bride for Mathew. He will do anything for his sick mother, even order a bride. Would Grace find happiness with stubborn Matt? Story well written. Loved it
I felt every emotion that each character felt in this book. I even shed a few tears, both in sadness and joy (it would probably have been A LOT more tears, but I didn’t want the husband to snicker at me) 🤦♀️ The writing is spectacular and made me feel like I was there. I recommend reading this book and I promise that it won’t let you down.
She had to get away and the only way out was to marry a stranger. Luckily for her the advertisement she answered was the answer to her prayers. This is a wonderful, clean story that is fun to read in one setting.
A delightful book that had me captivated. Strong characters in Matthew and Grace and a story full of suspense, danger and romance. I look forward to reading more by this author.
This is one of the best western romances that I have read. The story flowed smoothly & as a reader you were swept along smoothly & quickly with Etta Foster's writing style.
really enjoyed Grace and Matthew's story. Lots of suspense, action and romance. It left me with a smile. This is a new author to me and I look forward to reading more of her books. I received this book for free but truly loved it and voluntarily leave my review.

This novel is totally enchanting. Strong characters in Matthew and Grace and a story full of suspense, danger and romance. This is a wonderful, clean story that is fun to read in one setting. I admit that I shed a few tears reading this and they were of sadness but also joy. The writing makes you feel as if you are really sitting there seeing it all firsthand. This is a new author to me and I look forward to reading more of her books. Highly recommend reading.
I received an ARC copy and this is my voluntary review. Thanks Etta!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. This is a sweet and clean western historical romance. What an entertaining and enchanting read! I was hooked right from the beginning. The characters are well developed and likeable and the story has a solid and compelling plot. The author sets the scene perfectly and the tone of the story reminds me of the classic western movies I watched and loved as a child. Grace, a woman from the east coast, becomes a mail order bride as a last resort to save herself from a danger in her past and Mat isn’t sure he even wants or needs a wife on his ranch out west. But circumstances - and Mat’s mother, Rose - bring the two of them together and the adventure begins. This story is full of drama, intrigue, danger, humour and, of course, heartwarming romance - even a kidnapping and a thrilling rescue! This is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it.
Grace has no choice - she must leave Boston right away! Why? Thankfully her friend Fiona is there for her and finds a bride wanted ad. She arrives in the city of Oklahoma and finds her intended to be most unpleasant. Mathew Tucker cannot believe his intended is so beautiful. With the most beautiful red hair he has ever seen! He completely forgets his manners and doesn't think to take her bags until they get to the wagon! He not only doesn't help her with her bags but doesn't help her up onto the wagon! Talk about getting off on the wrong foot! Then she meets his mother, Rose, the absolutely most pleasant woman ever! Will Rose be able to redeem her son in Grace's eyes or is this a waste of time? Only where will Grace go? The problem that she left in Boston is still there and she refuses to give up just yet! Will her problem follow her? What happens if it does? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Etta Foster.
As the story begins Grace is on a train headed for Oklahoma after her father lost her to an evil man in a card game. She is going to be a mail order bride in hopes of escaping the from the marriage. Mat the groom was marrying for his mother. She was sick and wanted to see him settled by the time she passed away. He went along with her idea thinking that by having someone to cook and clean his mother could rest. I thought it was a very interesting story line. I would have liked to know more about Mr Pendennis. What was his background that made him so evil. And the lady from train. Just who was Nancy Delaney? Mat irritated me with his inner dialogues. I was glad he came around before the very end of the book. I hate when an author waits till the end for the hero to come to his senses. I am Looking forward to reading book two.
Grace Mathers worked at her fathers tavern in Boston. One night her father was playing cards he made Grace the winning prize. A very undesirable character won that game and claimed her. Grace would have nothing to do with this vile man. She answered a letter to be a mail order bride, and packed herself up and off to Oklahoma she went to meet Matthew Tucker and his ranch. They were so attracted to each other at first sight. Matthew is dashingly handsome and a physique to remember as well. Matthew just was in awe looking at this beautiful red haired beauty .It took a bit for them to get on speaking terms, but Matthew did not want to lose this chance . This is a wonderful heartfelt story of two people learning to trust and fall in love. A Must Read!!!
Grace Mathers needs to flee Boston after her drunken father loses her to an awful man in a card game. Answering an ad for a mail-order bride she heads to Oklahoma. Mat Tucker's mother wants to see him married with kids before she has to leave this world. As Grace and Mat meet both are taken with the other but with secrets she's hiding things may not go as smoothly as they'd hope. Grace knows she needs to marry Mat but will she be secure in that relationship before she finds herself facing the man and his goon that won her? This is a wonderful story of how two people can overcome obstacles and yet fall in love. I would highly recommend this story. Characters are well written and deep that makes you want to finish it to find out how things turn out.
A sweet yet tense mail order bride story. Grace was running away from Boston to avoid being taken by an evil man. She was hoping that Oklahoma would be far enough away from him to be safe. But that was not the case. Lots of tense moments and the love of her courageous cowboy helped free her from the evil that plagued her. Mathew was a true hero that any woman would swoon over. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It left me with a big huge sigh of contentment. I highly recommend reading this book especially for those who love wonderful HEAs!
Western Historical Romance Mail Order Bride Can love find these two and heal them Our heroine lived in Boston She becomes a mail order bride when she discovers that her father gambled her away to someone she believes is evil Our hero lives in Okalahoma agrees to send for a mail order bride Can these two have a HEA or is the one hunting her down discover where she is and destroy their HEA I recommend that if you love historical westerns about mail order brides you need to get this one you won't be disappointed You won't be disappointed in any novel by this author I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book
Sometimes, I just don't like a title; too many adjectives. The story starts out well, but Matthew is too conflicting at times. The description lead me to believe that they had some fierce-some fights that don't happen, mostly it's just snappiness. How they ever fell in love is a mystery. The lies Grace tells are bold and then she has a chance to come clean; she still lies. Matthew becomes likeable later when he starts really courting Grace, but Grace kept hiding in cowardice and caused Matthew's mother to be hurt. Lying is a sin, and you can see the grave mistake in Grace's sin. Personally, Matthew could have done better and so could the author.
This was a great book and a very interesting one. The Runaway bride and her future husband who was very dubious of her at first only to fall in love. The intrusion of a bad man from her past and his henchman made things hard for her until her fiancé came to her rescue. This was a Free book and I enjoyed reading it. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
There were a lot of things here, things against women, that made me glad a lot has changed since that time period. It still happens but I’m just glad there are more laws that prevents it from happening. As for the mail order bride angle, it was pretty classic but the events that precipitated it and the extent on how it was resolved were what made this story somewhat unique for me.
Enjoyable historical western book with suspense. Grace is a mail order bride that moved to Oaklahoma at Clay mom request. Clay did not care for Grace and vice versus. They get to know each other and there feelings changed. Grace is hiding a secret and it causes nightmares for her. I recommend to read to find out what happens. This is the second book I have read by Etta Foster. Plan on reading the complete series. It’s very well written.
I believe all mail order brides were courageous women to do what they did but this one was extra courageous considering what she ran from and what she first received upon arrival was definitely not a welcome. I could hardly pit this book down. The story is totally enchanting.
A sweet clean romance. Grace answers an advertisement to be a mail order bride to escape after her father loses her in a card game. Mat's mother placed the advertisement because she wants to see him married before she dies. Can they find happiness together? What about the evil man who thinks she belongs to him?
