Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
I can never rate this series less than 5 stars. For this one, I could tell it was made for pre-teens and teens, but, at the same time, I got a nostalgic good feeling while rereading it!
Ah, W.I.T.C.H. So much of my childhood was spend obsessing over the series. The books. The comics. The cartoon. The merchandise. You name it I was into it.
So why only the three stars if I loved it so much?
Well as time went by, I grew disinterested in the series. I went along with it mainly to see how it ended. I simply wanted to know what the final outcome was.
Surely that is not enough to merit three stars? You loved it!
I did, but that was because I was a pre-teen with very low expectations. This came before my vampire-loving period, so you can imagine what my standard was like. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad books – they’re simply not something I can go back to now that I’m older.
Thoroughly enjoyable at the time, but not quite so much now.
I remember getting this proof comicbook and I see a bit of similarity between the comics and the cartoon. I wish I had joined the magazine immediately after receiving the proof, but alas, I didn't join until volume 22. Actually, my dutch copy has Elyon on the front cover and is called volume 4.
Back to the point. I remember really adoring the comics so I'm excited to continue in 22! I love the special bond between the girls. I completely forgot about Taranee's telepathic ability.
this was the first one I have a small complaint with, as the styling of "vera" came across as too obvious to me. although I have found with the tv series that the "plot twists" can be obvious, vera's design was far too similar to elyon's for my liking as it caused more confusion than anything.
despite this the rest of the incredible action and subtle lesbianism in this one has 100% made up for it!!
This issue deserves a 5 star for the sole reason that the art is just superior to a few of the previous ones, they look so beautiful. Other than that the story is still as interesting if not more as when I was a kid, if anything I pay attention to the lore more now than back then. Cornelia also starting to redeem herself by admitting she wasn't right to doubt and question Will as a leader. You could look at it from her pov but still she was a bit harsh on Will in the few previous episodes.
i literally hate cedric so much lol at the same time can't deny he is a smart dude and was very impressed by his plan - i can't wait to see him fall tho
Such a sweet ending, Taranee is a cute pie and deserves all the gifts! I also noticed Will's paper wasn't translated from Italian which was a fun observation.
This took me back! I will never forget how obsessed I was with this TV show... I don't know what it was but it was one of three shows that linked together and I was engrossed in the episodes. These three shows were W.I.T.C.H., Winx and Trollz. All three shows had novels written and published after/during the show and I've tried reading all three, and yet W.I.T.C.H. is the one to come out on top, the other two novel series didn't keep me engaged.
This novel is probably one of the better novels... Looking back over the past few I have already read. This one is definitely a stand out one, however I can't help thinking that the beginning was drawn out a little too much.
However Elizabeth Lenhard easily captured the characters in the book perfectly, and it was like watching the show all over again, this was like a whole new episode.
In this book, there are various disguises going on, and a whole plan behind the scenes. The guardians become distant from one another and the plan to keep Earth safe from Metamoorians may not be a simple one if they aren't all sticking together.
Overall a great novel that fits perfectly within the series, and one I won't be forgetting effortlessly.
Issue six definitely has to be my favourite issue so far. Like pretty much every teen, Will is going through so very common teenage problems. Will has to come to terms with her resentment of her mother for moving them to a new town and getting close to her history teacher, as well as questioning her place in life and in the group of guardians. The plot is more cohesive and fleshed out as we find out about the power dynamics in Meridian and why the current villain earns that status. There’s also some interesting developments towards the end in the battle scene that makes things more intriguing. I’m so glad that this comic is everything I remember and more as it left me with such a lasting impression when I last read it over 15 years ago! With fascinating world(s), fun plot, memorable characters, action, romance, beautiful art, a colourful palette, and a sprinkle of life lessons and relatable content, W.I.T.C.H was and is a brilliant magical girl comic geared towards pre-teens and teens. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Mrs. Rudolph is back in Heatherfield, and at the same time, Will has a new friend - Elyon, her swimming trainer. Something smells fishy though. She's too good to be true! Turns out she was actually Elyon, and Cedric is pretending to be his teacher Mr. Collins. Both of them were spying and trying to prevent the guardians from opening another portal. Said portal is located at Cedric's bookstore and will be opened at 7pm. Vathek leads the group of rebels who will pass through the portal. However, Vathek pretended to betray Cedric so he can encourage rebels to join in his fight against the guardians. During the fight, the heart of Kandrakar spoke to the rebels and to Vathek that they can understand their hearts and that Phobos was actually the enemy. The battle ends and Cedric and Elyon vanished. A little sweet surprise at the end - Nigel gave Taranee a special gift. When she opened it, it was a butterfly that Taranee really likes. Cute and sweet!
Mrs. Rudolph is back in Heatherfield. At the same time, Will has this new swimming trainer, who gives herself by the name of Alice. Although, something doesn't smells right, and Alice turns out to be Elyon who, along side with Cedric - who is pretending to be Mr. Collins -, was spying and trying to prevent the guardians from closing another portal.
Also, Vathek, who was leading the group of rebels who are attending to pass through the portal, listens the heart of Kandrakar and realizes that Phobos was actually the enemy. The battle ends and Cedric and Elyon vanished.
With this little twist at the ending, the girls are in a good place and both Will and Taranee received great news from their beloved ones.
I used to like these series. Now, I don't think they're so good anymore. I got up to number 12 or something like that, and they've gone up to #26 or something... and they're still coming out!! I'm not really interested into them anymore, but I used to be.
I loved this series! All of the different girls had their own individual personalities that made the series more enjoyable to read. Also, of course the cool magical powers was a plus. I loved the character relationships and adventures the girls got themselves into.
