If your motivation behind buying this text is to learn everything about the MacBook, from tricks and nuances for the experienced user to general information for the new user; then it's the right text for you.
There's a fine line between comic humor and dry information. This author went way over the top trying to be fun, funny, and sarcastic. What is wrong with the author trying really, really, hard to be fun/funny? Here is the answer:
Because this is an informational book! Not a big comedy skit!
It was insufferable for me for when I was trying to read and learn information about my beloved laptop it seemed that almost every other line was some kind of superfluous joke. It got to the point of being distracting because in my mind I kept predicting how soon the next joke would come. When I finally felt like I was focused on the information, BAM! I get hit with another stupidly useless joke. By the way, as I've already implied - the jokes aren't even remotely funny! It really takes away from the potency of the text. I honestly think that this was big enough of an annoyance that there should be two versions, a "fun" joke ridden-version and a dry information version. Perhaps that would be a revealing experiment for the author. Also, seriously, the dry non-joking version of this book would probably be 50 pages less and much easier to carry. That wasn't a joke...

Got a MacBook, and just wanted to learn about the machine. The book comes in handy to help out, in exploring the system. The text gives basics for most of the tools available. Read the book and satisfied with this beginner's guide.
