Whoaaa, aku suka pilihan-pilihan katanya. Maknanya pun lebih gampang aku pahami loh. It felt like this book "speak" to me. What a great debut!

I rarely read poems, but I'm so impressed that I found a lot of the poems here so touching.

I could really feel all the emotions of the author.

The poems and illustrations in this book focus a lot on identity, love, belonging, with a touch of magical and fantastical feels. I really liked the format of the poems, they all flow beautifully and well curated with lots of thought and care.

A lot of repetition of the themes in here is about the author's struggles with their identity and how they battle with religion and society. The metaphors in here are just so beautiful!

I wish more people would pick this book up! I think a lot of people would find some thing for themselves from this book.

I found this book unwrapped and its papers were starting to become yellow. It was sitting on a bookshelf of a famous Indonesia bookstore. The title was the one that I found interesting and the size of the book is comfortably handy, like something I easily bring everywhere and read it on the train. The color is a burning red, make it very easy to find among other books. I found myself gambling when I decided to give this book a go.

My first time reading this book was on a crowded train, thankfully I was sitting that time so I can enjoy the book comfortably. kräie alone is a bit strange to my ear, haven't heard about him before. I picked the pages and immediately run through "About Writer" page. In there, I found that the writer is a queer and have a big interest in gender and feminism. That moment, I knew, this book going to fill with my silent cry.

This book is divided into several chapters which are: mirror, womb, water, anthers, stars, mirror, sugarcane and honeycomb, moon and rain, flower petals, faith, shell, iron, and birth. Some of it was written about (which I later translated as) the relationship with his parents and as someone who is also have an awfully complex relationship with my parents, I could relate this book too much. I marked those parts as "a loud cry to my parents".

"they mistook my affection
for sin
i hope they don't mistake their sins
for affection"

kräie wrote his misery about the society which already has misconception about sex and gender and how the misconception leads to unfair treatment towards queer group.

"you think i chose the path
where a million hands
would stone me?

i didn't

born divine

This book figuratively and literally left a big mark in my heart, it represent my feeling very well and for that I want to give kräie a handful of thanks.

why would you tell boys they can't be soft
grow flowers in their hair
and be strong
at the same time
when they can?

living millions of years with flowers all over her
withstood scorching heat and sheer cold
tell the boys tell the girls tell them all
they can be strong
like earth

— hlm. 47

This is my first poem/poetry book. I didn't expect much but i found myself enjoying this book. The choice of words amazed me. The topic isn't about love but more to life, especially in queerness, i found that topic a lot. And i love the way the author didn't really use he/she but instead, he uses you. I can feel a lot of emotions between the words as well. It makes me doubt myself about certain things mentioned in this book. Overall i recommend this book even though sometimes i don't fully understand what the author want to address.

Randomly found this book at a public library.

some people are scared of pain
when you show them your scars
the way you got them
some will look away
they'd rather try to stay safe
in their own places
afraid
