Owen Gasnier is a gentleman even inside the Octagon. As much of a gentleman as one can be having an undisputed record with every win by a knock out. People LOVE him.
Overworked barista Tegan Holland doesn't know he exists. Not until ten minutes before her friend Fiona drags her to the biggest cage fight Sydney has ever seen.
By the time he heads back to his training camp in the States, she'll never forget him. But should she let him forget her? He's chasing his dream. He doesn't have time for her. Does he?
For Owen, the hits just keep coming. Trash talking opponents, sensationalist media, and someone's out to ruin him for good. He can't put Tegan in the middle of it. Can he?
Soon, will any of it matter? Cause life has other plans, and NOTHING hits harder than life.
I love writing adult paranormal fiction. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts... oh my. I've been writing since I was 11 but I've always been a dreamer... often getting caught staring off into space as I created stories in my mind.
One of my stories, Night Walker (Undeadly Secrets Series Book 1), won the 2017 Golden Stake Award at the International Vampire Film and Arts Festival held in Transylvania annually. I'm still quite chuffed about walking away with it after facing some great contenders.
Currently there are 6 books in the Undeadly Secrets Series, 3 books in the Undisputed (MMA Romance) series and 2 Independents short stories plus a brand new series beginning with Owned By The Mafia, released in 2023
I'm so proud of the fact both Undisputed and Unbroken both won the same award a year apart from each other. *TOP 50 INDIE BOOKS OF THE YEAR*
My favourite activities include spending time with family, watching my beloved St George Illawarra Dragons, popping into the movies for the latest blockbusters, going to the gym for my dream body. Or just a body. Anything, really.
Speerzie... book daddy. Baby daddy x 2. Simply irresistible
I don't know if their genitals were so radiant that none of the mcs had the ability to think of or even discuss safe sex! 🙄
It was so hard to believe that such a dedicated and especially focused MMA fighter would have had sex without protection with a woman he had just encountered!!! The same applies to the heroine also!
I kept reading, hoping it would get better due to the high ratings, but there was so much drama unraveling that after a point it was farfetched.
I'm absolutely in love with this author's paranormal world so it was a no-brainer that I would want to see what he could do with a contemporary story. I have to say I was impressed. Undisputed was so much more than just an MMA fighter story. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of fighting going on and the author did a great job of giving the reader a behind-the-scenes look at that life, but it covered so much more than that. It had a lot of heart. It was the intense and emotional journey of Tegan and Owen defeating the odds. The characters faced hardships, they had to suffer through heartache, and they showed us that sometimes the biggest fights of our lives happen outside of the ring.
This is completely different from anything else of Aaron’s I have read. I liked that it still had his style of writing. MMA is a genre of romance I like but don’t OMG love and that is ok. We are all allowed to like what we like.
Fiona is my favorite character in this book she is a true friend in every sense of the word friend, she is there for Tegan and Owen (when he needs it) and she is who I would love to see get a book of her very own.
Owen and Tegan have that “it” factor for sure. I see why Owen would fall for her. When so many people know you it must be nice to meet someone who doesn’t know what you do but likes you for yourself. You also can't help but enjoy Owen's character that strong protective personality is delicious. The fighting parts of the book had me hooked, I quite liked the action and wish there was more of it. The personal situations the characters found themselves in were ok for me, I feel like maybe one situation or the other would have been more than enough emotion. I guess I felt like too much overall. (Without giving anything away)
For me, there were a few things I didn’t particularly like but this is just my opinion. I would have liked the timeline to be a little longer, and the almost instant kind of love/attraction for me is just not my thing. I think because then the characters forget they had a life before this other person came into their life. Overall I enjoyed the book it was interesting, it had me intrigued I couldn’t put it down.
This book made me feel all the feels. I really loved the story. I haven't read a lot of MMA books so I can't give you a comparison to that, But I feel the author did a fantastic job of sucking me in and making me care about these characters. This is the story of Owen a MMA fighter who not only is on his way to being the best, He's also a really nice guy. He's hot, buff and can knock you out. He's the type of guy who refuses to hit his opponent when he's down. So are you ready to jump his bones yet, Just wait.... Tegan is just a normal girl working at a coffee shop. She knows nothing of MMA or Owen, well she knows the her best friend FiFi loves Owen and he's the best. She ends up at a MMA fight and meets Owen. Sparks kinda of fly.... FiFi I love FiFi!! She's the sassy BBF you wish you had! She's snarky but has your back no matter what! She better be getting something or someone special in future books! No spoilers so that's all you get. This book is for sure now one of my favorites. It sucked me into a world that made me laugh, cry and maybe I invented some new emotions in the process lol. The story was so well written that I completely devoured it in one sitting. I couldn't stop. I had to know what was going to happen next. I always look forward to this author's books because I know it's gonna be freaking great. And this totally didn't disappoint.
My most favorite book from this author!!! OMGOODNESS! I absolutely loved it! Owen is every woman’s dream! The biggest heart & you can’t help but fall in love with him! Fiona & Tegan you will love Just as much! I can’t wait for the next book & I really hope Fi gets her own story!
Firstly let me just say, I don't like sports romance. AT ALL. I won't read them. Having said that, I have read everything else this author has written and loved them.....so why not? I absolutely adore this book!! The characters are so beautifully crafted, some you will instantly have a connection to, and others the connection sneaks up on you when you aren't looking. While this book features MMA fighting, it doesn't drown you in all the technical jargon, instead the author has cleverly devised a way for you to receive the information you need about the sport, while focusing on the journey the characters are on. This has it all- heartache, joy, loyalty, humility, love, humour and determination. Cannot wait to see where this series goes!
Being a fan of this author I was able to get an advance reader copy, arc, of this story. I was interested to see how he handled a whole new genre since previously his work was in paranormal. I was not disappointed, in fact, I am delighted. Rather than tell you about the plot and premise, which is ordinarily not something I would choose to read or speak of the characters, I will tell you how the book impacted me. This is a feel-good story. But in order to get to the feel good, author Speer is going to ring every other emotion out of you. I belly laughed at his humor, I bit my nails at the suspense, I worried for the characters I came quickly to care about and I cried real tears which is something only the very best writers can make me do. Aaron L. Speer knows his work, research is clearly there. And he is a master at the surprise twist, so if like me you think you can guess where it is going, think again, he will fool you pleasantly. I read this book in one day because once begun nothing else seemed important. If you are looking to be well entertained by a consummate author, this is your book.
How do you put into words the excellence, the thrill, the excitement, the action, the humor, the love story? Phenomenal! That is it. This book was phenomenally written, executed!!! I feel in love with all of the characters... Minus Diaz that is! You have my Teagan and the love of my life Owen whose love felt so instant. Then you have Fiona who had me laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. Teagan went from a "Plain Jane" who knows nothing about MMA. To a woman who has this hunk of a man falling over her and captivated by her. Then you have my beau, Owen, who is focused on his career and doesn't do relationships.... What fate may bring together, and that is exactly what that was... fate. This is a must read like no other! I swear!!!! Do not sleep on this book. It has everything and is totally one of my top 5 reads of the year thus far!!!
Wow this story!!! The way this author has written it, I've had goose bumps reading it. This book is so amazing. I've had tears in my eyes & my heart hurting and then I've been so happy, I've had a silly grin on my face. What an amazing story. Well worth reading. Such a talented writer and a must read for me. I can't wait for more.
This is an amazing piece of writing. I ran the gamut of motions while reading it, from fun and exciting to tear-jerkingly heartbreaking, to victorious and redemption! Tegan and Owen's story is for one for anyone who may be going through a hardship, or just likes an incredible love story.
Tegan Holland doesn’t follow the sport of MMA, but when her best friend Fiona drags her to the biggest cage match ever hosted in Sydney with ringside seats, she can’t help but to get caught up in the excitement. When they realize their tickets came with access to a meet and greet after the fight, Tegan has a chance encounter that will change her life forever.
Owen Gasnier may be at the top of his game and the sport of MMA, but he doesn’t let it go to his head. He lives by his own beliefs and principals. When he rescues a young woman with food poisoning after his match, he’s intrigued. When he randomly runs into her the next day, he can’t help but to ask her out knowing he’ll be headed out of the country in a few short days.
Their time together is sweet and explosive and oh to short as Owen has to head back to the states to train for the biggest fights of his life. But, their connection has left them both wanting more and forever changed. Tegan knows she should let him go and hope he forgets about her to train to achieve his dream. Owen’s in a media storm of trash talking and sensationalized allegations and doesn’t want Tegan pulled into the middle of things.
What happens, though, when they both need each other in ways they never expected and are both in for the fights of their lives? Can they find a way to draw upon one another for strength and support or will an ocean keep them apart forever?
Undisputed was Aaron L. Speer’s first foray into contemporary romance and he definitely threw down his right to be in this genre with this fast paced and hard hitting romance that will have readers both on the edge of their seats as well as grabbing their box of tissues.
Owen is not your typical athlete, and I adored him for that. He never once buys into his own hype and truly lives by his own personal moral and ethical code no matter who or what tries to distract him. He is a real man of character, which is why when he falls for Tegan, readers know it’s for real and not meant to be just a fling.
Tegan is a beautiful character. She exceptionally strong and is really put through the wringer in this book (hence the need for tissues). Without giving too much away, she is in for the fight of her life, yet is still trying to put Owen first as she doesn’t want to keep him from his dreams. What she doesn’t understand is that dreams can change and Owen refuses to let her go.
When they both finally come together and decide to tackle life together and take on whatever is thrown at them, true magic happens! I’m talking all the feels for the emotional journey that Aaron L. Speer takes readers on.
I also need to toss out a special mention for Fiona, Tegan’s best friend. This exuberant, foul mouthed bestie is a complete scene stealer and possibly the world’s best “bestie.” She adds a fun and fresh intensity to this book while also being an emotional rock for Tegan. I’m begging you, Mr. Speer . . .please give Fiona a book!
Undisputed was a unique and incredible take on a contemporary MMA romance. 5 stars.
Undisputed is a contemporary sports romance and so outside this authors normal wheel house of paranormal. When I heard this author was stepping outside his comfort zone to write this book I was intrigued to say the least. I was so NOT disappointed! The story line flows great and is filled with action and some suspense as well as some hot moments. This book has all the feels you want. The characters are so well written it is easy to connect with them, root for them, cry with them, get angry for them and want to go along with them to "throat punch the thunder c*nt". This book is a must read. I look forward to more from these characters
WOW!!! Sooooo good...... Owen Gasnier Best pound for pound striker in the world. This story drew me in right from the start.... I did not see things playing out as they did. With lots of heartbreak and anxiety with hard life situations thrown at Owen and Tegan and the relationship that they had between them. There was some very HOT!!! Sex scenes that had me feeling a bit hot and bothered. Throw in Tegan's best friend and MMA enthusiast Fiona with the smart mouth and barbed comments, and this story has you wanting more. Loved it.
EPIC read from Aaron L Speer once again! After having read his Undeadly Secrets series, I don't bother to read the blurb. It's gonna be an epic read whatever it's about. So Undisputed is a love story, far from what I expected from him, and it's a brilliant read! Excellent story with fabulous characters. Lots of drama and excitement throughout. And plenty of humour. Owen and Teagan are like a breath of fresh air. And Fiona needs a book of her own! It's a MUST READ from me!
Absolutely AMAZING!!! There are not many books that completely and utterly leave me shocked and awed, but Undisputed by Aaron L Speer has done just that!!! I couldn’t stop reading it and when I actually had to do adult stuff I couldn’t get the characters and story out of my head or my heart.
Tegan is an ordinary girl with an ordinary job at a coffee shop who was dragged to see a MMA fight by her bestie Fiona even though she knew nothing about it or cared for that matter. She was underwhelmed to say the least with the whole thing till Owen Gasnier fought and for some reason the vibe from the crowd and the fighter himself made her appreciate what she was watching. Not only was she forced out to watch the fights she was coerced into going to the meet and greet that followed where due to unexpected circumstances she met Owen himself and where their story truly began. They were instantly intrigued by each other and this led to more moments between the pair that made you fall completely in love with them. But not all love stories are easy and perfect. Owen and Tegan had so many struggles, personal and as a couple, to overcome and when you think things are just to hard for them to make it, they surprise you.
As for other characters in the book, they are superb!! The bad guy Diaz you truly hate, the father Robert makes you see how strong family love and support is and well, best friend Fiona is just the best ever. She is fierce, a total badass and she owns it. I need to know more if her story for sure. Not sure any male could wrangle her in but if they did, they would be one lucky S.O.B!!
Aaron has given us not just a love story but a story of strength and beauty, a story so strong in its characters and writing that you feel completely lost in the words. I have felt all the emotions when reading Undisputed from happy to sad, and also extremely angry!! I have cried and laughed and gave this book my whole heart!! I am left needing more!!! Toys book hangover happen g right now!!! Thank you for such an incredible story Aaron. It is now ranked in my top books of all time!!!
Known for his paranormal romances, Aaron L. Speer has branched out with Undisputed into the contemporary romance arena. Owen Gasnier is brilliant fighter in the MMA Octagon. Winning match after match, he comes back to his hometown, Sydney, for a fight that will take him one step closer to the championship. Tegan Holland is a Sydney girl whose friend drags her to the Gasnier fight where they meet and start a rocky relationship. A relationship that they will need steel spines to stand up to many tribulations thrown their way to get to a happily ever after.
Aaron Speer builds interesting, solid characters. They are all firmly rooted in realism (their emotions and reactions) and Undisputed is no exception. Both Tegan and Owen are well developed, fully fleshed and relatable characters that allow the reader to jump into their story and stay there. Speer also likes drama. It is, for me, becoming his signature that the people in his worlds do have anything half way happen to them nor is it one thing that they have to overcome. Speer has Tegan and Owen fighting for each other, fighting outside threats and even, themselves. He parses out his characters' experiences well all leading to an explosive championship ending.
Aaron L. Speer fans will like Undisputed for it's signature Speer style and so will sport romance fans for its well written fight scenes and touching romance tale. Bring tissues.
There was everything to love about this book. Fitting squarely into the MMA genre, the technical aspect enhanced the story. The characters were strong and motivated, yet they were real. And like real people, they had their doubts, their down times, and their weaknesses. Teagan certainly held her own against Gaz and his father upon their first meeting, and her best friend Fiona-of-the-smart-@rse-mouth could have easily stolen the show. That chick was on fire! She absolutely has to have her own book!!
Undisputed was a book that kept me on the boil. My interest was high because there always was something going on and the word-smithing was perfection. I loved the interactions between Gaz and his father, Teagan and Fiona, and, holy hell, there was some pretty intense scenes between Gaz and Teagan. Or should I say, classy, steamy, h-o-t. Their relationship though, was not without it’s challenges, and both ended up in a parallel fight for their lives that could end up inspiring a win in both of them, or break them.
Aaron L Speers had me crying and laughing, but I haven’t quite forgiven him for tearing the rug out from under the feet of our couple. He’d best be making up for it in the next book in the series, and one I’m looking forward to for sure. It seems our man is an author of equal opportunity characters, because the next fighter into the cage is a chick! 5 Stars for this TKO of a book!
This author has been recommended to me by several people. I’ve had this book sitting on my iPad but just hadn’t managed to get to it until tonight. I was entranced from the opening page and couldn’t stop until the middle of the night when the story had been told.
I will most definitely be reading more of his books. This MMA novel was the most believable one I’ve ever read. I felt like I was sitting ringside, I could feel the atmosphere of the singing, clapping and the announcers voices. Owen Gasnier had integrity and morals, unlike some of his opponents. They were happy to hit below the belt and go to any length to mar his reputation.
Fiona and Tegan were like chalk and cheese, but like milk and cookies. They were so different but meant to be together. Fiona had an absolutely wicked sense of humour and was the best friend a girl could ever want. Tegan had a beautiful soul, with nothing but good intentions.
Have to start this review with how much I’ve enjoyed Aaron’s other books. I’m not usually a lover of any sports related books but I am so damn glad I read this. I can’t begin to give this book the recognition it deserves. I couldn’t have felt anymore emotions if I tried. Yep I ugly cried like snotty ugly cry. I laughed whilst drinking. Big mistake. I sat on the edge of my seat wanting to skip to the end of the chapter shouting at the pages. I connected with the characters I needed to and went through everything they did. Yes it’s written that well. Owen is chasing his dream. MMA Champion of the world. Focused on nothing else. Until Tegan. Tegan works from day to day enjoying her life. Her best friend Fiona being a big part. She doesn’t do serious. Until Owen. Sensational read. Can’t wait to read more from this Author
I am once again left amazed! Undisputed was everything and then some. Aaron L. Speer, I wasn’t sure my heart was going to be able to survive. A book that can bring tears to my eyes is a 5+ Star book in my mind. I devoured this book and was up practically all night reading.
A MMA fighter fighting his own way and following his own rules - whether conventional or not. I had total respect for Owen and admired him to pieces. His heart was always in the right place. Then you have Tegan (absolutely love her name btw) and I fell in love with her and her innocence. She had no clue about anything relating to MMA fighting and was dragged to a fight with her best friend where she ends up meeting Owen. A connection that is undeniable. A relationship of sorts is born. Will Owen and Tegan be able survive the demands of being a fighter? When Tegan receives devastating news will the two be able to overcome those challenges as well.
The overall emotions that I felt while reading this book was indescribable. Not only was Undisputed an emotional book but it was also a book filled with drama, some suspense, love, romance and some hot sexy time. I couldn’t put the book down! A definite 5 Star read! Bring on the next book.....
It’s my first Aaron Speer book and I definitely wasn’t disappointed.
Sure, i wanted to (and maybe threatened to) junk punch the author at one point when he shattered my heart.
Then as quick as he’d destroyed me, all it took was one page, one line and I wanted a hug!
A MMA fighter on the way to the top and the barista who has no idea who he is that steals his heart. Despite everything life and the scheming shady side of the MMA world throws at them, both Tegan and Owen stay true to themselves and each other and do the one thing they’re best at.
Fight.
Can’t wait for book 2 and You can bet I’ll be stalking Aaron until it’s released!
Amazing! This book had all the feels!!! I was crying for Tegan and rooting for Owen. I was all over with emotions with this book! I can not wait for the next one!!
Owen is a fighter but gets knocked down when he meets Tegan. Thinking it isn't going to be anymore than a night Tegan lets loose. Owen has a fight on his hands where Tegan is concerned. Determined to be there as Tegan takes on a fight no one wants, can he be the one to give her the strength? Will Tegan be what he needs to get the title?
This was an amazing book! And I truly can't wait for the next one!!
I love MMA stories and this one is up there with my favorites. It has an element to it that will break your heart but don't stop reading. There is so much about this story that is worth a chance to read, from the MMA to FIFi. FIFi is Teegan's BFF and she is funny, supportive, and just the best. I want her as my BFF. This is a first for me from this author and I look forward to reading more from him.
This was my first read by Aaron L Speer and I must say I enjoyed this story! I enjoyed the bit of Australian slang. The inside info of the MMA world. And ultimately the love and fight Tegan and Owen have within them is nothing short of amazing! My heart broke a time or two - but Aaron put it back together! On to book 2!
WOW I absolutely loved this book. This is an amazing LOVE STORY. OMG the book hangover is strong with this book. This was my first book from this author and for sure wont be my last. I am a sucker for a good MMA book, this book had me feeling all sorts of things. You will go from fun and exciting to tear-jerky in matter of pages. I feel for Owen right away, he is every girls dream guy. You cant help for fall for him from the beginning. Poor Tegan is a over worked barista. I want to be just like Tegan when I grow up (if that ever happens). I cannot stress how much a must read this book is. I cannot wait for the next book..
This was a new to me author and I was pleasantly surprised. From the very beginning of the book I got sucked in and now can't wait for more from these characters that you can't help but fall in love with.
Speerzie is fantastic at merging action with emotion. This is such a compelling story of love, loss, and finding a worthy cause to fight for. But let's not forget the sass. Fiona, the best friend, side character, steals the spotlight with her wit and lack of a filter. She's who we all want to be or at least have as a friend. Owen and Tegan aren't too bad either and will make you want to cheer on the power of love. This story plays to the heart while being technical enough on the fighting scenes to keep an experienced fan eagerly engaged. This Aussie author can do no wrong and I will faithfully follow him through any genre he blazes through.
I went into this one blind. I had no clue what to expect, but what I did not expect was the emotional rollercoaster that Undisputed took me on. This was such a unique and well-written story with characters that I fell quickly in love with! I did not want their story to end. I bawled my eyes out more than once and prayed for a miracle for these two. The end had me on the edge of my seat and my heart in my throat. If you're looking for a new author to take a chance on, this is a great place to start!
Full disclaimer, this is my first book by this author. Now after saying that I can honestly say it won't be my last.
This book for me sucked me in from the first chapter and never let up. When an author can in one moment tick me off and then the next make me love him again. That to me is an author folks!!!
I've read a few MMA books and I have to say that what stuck out for me is that while yes this was a sports romance the author didn't over do the sports jargon for me he told a beautiful story that definitely has made my top 5 reads for the year.
