In The Sons of God in Genesis 6:1-4, Jaap Doedens offers an overview of the history of exegesis of the enigmatic biblical text about the 'sons of God', the 'daughters of men', and the 'giants'.
Plenty of good stuff. Got bogged down in some of the textual arguments, but the history of exegesis is the best part (and reason I wanted to read this). I wish he had spent more time dealing with the theological arguments of the Sethite-interpretation, he seemed a bit dismissive of some of their arguments. Ultimately I disagreed with his conclusion but found it informative nonetheless.
Unfortunately, this book retails at about $200 so it prices this outside of the grasp for most laymen. I was able to read a copy via my alma mater's library. The greatest value that I got from this was the history of exegesis chapter, which contains a good deal of information, but you can get a summarized form of the same information here: https://www.robibradshaw.com/chapter5...
