Storm at Eldala is the second book in the Harbinger trilogy by Diane Duane. In this one Gaberial Conner and his Fraal companion Enda are just trying to make a living with their starship, "Sunshine". It seems that they are being thwarted at every turn by several malevolent groups, including an unknown race of aliens that use undead soldiers to do their bidding for them. They rescue a ship stranded in deep space and in what seems like gratitude the captain sells them the exploration rights to a star system in deep space. When they eventually arrive at the new system things are not what they expected. They will be lucky to survive after what they discover there. This book is a great continuation of the story which began in Starrise at Corrivale.
The quest of Gabriel Connor continued to find the evidence to clear his name of being falsely accused of murder. Except now,he finds himself drawn more into the unfolding mystery of a returning alien force that seeks to spread its dominion over the Galaxy. The only ones who had stood against this threat was a now extinct civilization call 'The Glass Makers', whose ruins are scattered here and there thru-out space. Second Volume in the Harbinger Trilogy-- the writing is smooth and effortless, letting the reader just immerse themselves in the story of a young man finding himself and finding answers to mysteries.
Again-- an entertaining read that doesn't stint on the adventure.
