When Kaleb goes grocery shopping with Mom, he always rides in the cart . . . but the ride is never this exciting! This time the cart—with Kaleb in it—rolls out of the parking lot and into the street, and he’s off licketysplit on a traffic-stopping adventure. Hilarious neighborhood characters chase after the runaway cart as it zips on by. Kaleb’s exhilarating trip leaps from every page in boldly colored illustrations rendered with a stylish sense of fun. The tale, a twist on the classic Golden Goose, ends happily with Kaleb’s cart rolling back into the parking lot, where it all began. Phew!
Cute story that Vin seemed to enjoy. At only three he seemed a little distressed by Kaleb's predicament and was relieved when the runaway shopping cart returned to his mother. (: Insight into a three year old's mind. :) He enjoyed the build up of characters chasing the cart but as the reader it became a mouthful to read the growing list! :) Still a fun read for my grandson...I would add it to his shelf at home for further enjoyment.
What starts out as a routine trip for Kaleb to the grocery store with his mom, turns into a free wheeling spree, and chase through town in this cumulative tale. When the shopping cart that Kaleb is riding in gets away from the grocery boy in the parking lot it causes an unforgettable ride through town for Kaleb, and chase for those in pursuit.
This cumulative verse story is about a little boy who makes an unexpected trip around town in a runaway shopping cart. By the end he has half of the town chasing after him and he ends up right where he began with his mother non the wiser. Great fun! I could see the excitement painted all over my kids faces (they are boys, 3 & 5) as they imagined what it would be like to have such an eventful trip to the grocery store.
This is a silly story, one that builds upon each character one at a time as they chase Kaleb and his runaway shopping cart. It's a decent story and a decent one to read aloud, but it gets a bit tedious toward the end.
Um... there really wasn't very much I liked about this book. Except the kid's name: "Kaleb" is a cool name. Everything else pretty much appalled me. I'm guessing this was supposed to be a modern twist on the Gingerbread Man?
