Eist and her friends fly to the front line of the battle against the Blight at Margaid. Dille gets it into her head to use the magic that their group has been learning and send the Blight back where it came from.
I’m being generous with 4 stars for this one. It was probably more like a 3 for me, but the ending boosted it up to a 4 star in my opinion. You know that section of the Harry Potter books that’s a non-stop free-for-all chaotic battle against the evil forces? Yeah, that’s what most of this book felt like. It was a blur of fighting to me which I just skimmed mostly through. Yet again, Athar man-handles Eist, pulling her back, stopping her from saving someone. You know, I’m really getting annoyed at him for doing that. And again, she isn’t mad at him, which I really don’t get since Athar accuses Yachrist of being possessive and controlling of her (Athar is actually the possessive controlling one here). The ending was powerful and wrenching, but I’m not really looking forward to yet more chaotic battle scenes spanning the last three books.
The author continues to weave a great tale in this book as I followed Eist and Fior and their companions. More action and excitement plus some really good twists and turns! A must read and I can't wait to read the next book!
Wow! Dill’s story & new skills are remarkable. Eist and her friends provide critical help in the fight against evil. There is hope, an unwelcome reunion, betrayal, tragic loss, and finally, a new hope.
While I’d been enjoying this series up until this book, this particular story took a turn that could potentially ruin the series for me. The author is still an objectively good writer, with well done character development, originality, and a fast-paced plot. Her writing style, however, took a shift in this book that I did not find pleasing. While there was some angst and tension throughout the series, there was also an overall hopeful tone to earlier books, with strong themes of found family and comradery. In this book, however, it’s far less hopeful, and the family the protagonist built across previous books starts to fall apart. The author ends the book with something that left me greatly dissatisfied. She could potentially fix it later in the series, but I worry that she might not.
I realize that many other people have a higher tolerance for darkness and loss in the stories they enjoy than I do. I, however, read for escapism. While I’m fine with some struggle along the way, I draw the line at overtly depressing, or vivid (and unnecessary) on page loss of likeable primary characters. For anyone who feels the same way, you might want to think twice about this book. If you are fine with those types of things in what you like to read, however, then by all means give it a try.
This is book #6 of the Brindle Dragon series. The characters are in battle with the Blight, and the aerial battles are well described. By this time, we have become well involved with these people and their dragons, and having them in battle and injured can make your heart race. Dille has returned and has grown up into a full-fledged witch. Fior has grown up into a full-fledged dragon, still small but mature and still possessing the power of his roar. Eist's mother helps to lead her to information that will help in the battle. We lose one of the five companions toward the end of this one, even though Eist seems to think she can force recovery for her parents as well as the lost one. I enjoyed this book tremendously, and I think you will too.
Summary: Simple coming of age type book, potential for better things so I'll keep going in this series, not sure about dragons. We'll see. Some of the characters are a bit 2 dimensional. Book 6 continues the theme, a bit more on magic and the blight
Plotline: Very simple plot for this first, very short, book. Ditto book6
Premise: Dragons. Magic and the blight...
Writing: Simple, descriptive, light
Ending: Well highly predictable, title gives it away really.
This series keeps getting better and better. I can hardly wait for the next book! If you are a fantasy fan you can't go wrong with three books from the talented Jada Fisher. She builds an amazing tale around students wanting to be dragon riders and then needing to be dragon riders and heroes before they can graduate or be fully trained. This amazing group of five really get things done and the strongest one seems to be Eist or is she? Don't miss this amazing series! I guarantee you certainly won't be bored! Action on top of action!!
Great book. Dille is different. Older. Yacrist has lost his home and family. Fior has gotten large. The Blight is back. Eist and company have no chance to start their fourth year and finish training before going into battle. With the Blight back they have their hands full as students helping to fight the war against it. The next story in the series should be exciting.
I gave this rating because that was as high as I could go.This is facinating . The characters are really good.I feel like I am right there like a bug on the wall (lol).I have been reading for a few days now.Eist has a lot on her shoulders. But it is magic so read on.
...and now that it has, Eist and her friends are getting in deeper and deeper. This episode sees the beginning and escalation of the newest war against the Blight. Lots of twists and turns and some possible losses...only time, and a few more books, will tell!
I really enjoy this series. Look forward with anticipation for the next installment. However, sometimes miss spelled and incorrect word usage detracts from the story. Otherwise a good read.
The story is really starting to move along now and getting interesting. The previous books built up the characters and background of the world this take takes place in. Now with this book, and a bit of the last one, we're into the meat of the story.
Loved the series but this book felt very unfinished ,almost like it is just part of a bigger one . Yachris hmm what can I say but I think we all saw it coming . Clingons will be clingons .
They team think they have figured out what they need to do to stop the Blight. Except things go wrong, very, very, badly wrong. They lose one of the team. Eist hopes that she can safe him but it appears to be impossible. Highly recommended..
This series has me enthralled! I think I'll rest after I finish 1 and then reali..no way..gotta see what happens next! A truly exciting series and each book keeps you on edge... Well im onto the next one!
Rereading and feeling more into the minds of these characters is a fulfilling experience. Read it once then come back some time later and do it again. Awesome for me!
Wow!!! I haven't enjoyed a series of books like this from my first time reading LOTR and Harry Potter. Like those this series will be on my lifetime reading list to be re-read over and over again Thank you Jada Fisher hats off to you!!!
Although I am sad for the lost of the Prince; perhaps it is for the best. The "witch" can now concentrate on truly ending the Blight. I am also very glad for her final good bye to her deceased parents. Now she can truly concentrate on ending the Blight.
I love your stories! Absolutely love them... I think your imagination is wonderful! Original and thoughtful, it makes me crave more! Thank you Jeff Howell
These books are just way too short for the amount of content covered. The series is better off having longer page length and less titles in the series.
The characters are whats saving this series for me at this point. Don't get me wrong, the plot is still good, but its moved away from the genres I like.
I borrowed this book on amazon Unlimited but after the last one I decided not to bother. The rating reflects that, not the book - it may be amazing. Judge for yourself
