The sleepy little town of Harrodsburg is a picturesque glimpse of small-town America. A community filled with friendly, hard-working folks and southern hospitality. It is also home to many drifters and downtrodden people who have lost their way. One such vagrant is Eric, who slinks through his day to day trying to escape a dark past. A past which has found him. However, the life he left behind is not the only problem facing the small Kentucky town, as an ancient and horrifying evil sleeping beneath the ground begins to awaken.
A fun sci-fi romp with added regional flavor of the author's hometown. Jurassic Park meets Stranger Things, with action sequences reminiscent of The Dresden Files. I love how Ray Coffman develops all characters equally so you are always unsure of who is going to escape a given situation. He keeps dropping hints about the depth and complexity of the world he's created from start to finish, leaving you wondering what's in store for everyone after the final chapter is finished.
