I’ve got one shot to win his heart.

I’ve had a crush on Preston Royce for as long as I can remember. Only, I’ve never told him, or anyone, because he doesn’t see me that way. (And because his sister, Charlie, happens to be my best friend!)

But when Preston’s girlfriend breaks his heart, Charlie comes up with a plan to get them back together—a plan that involves Preston and me pretending to date.

Yeah, it’s a bad idea cozying up with a guy who’s still in love with his ex, but it may be my only chance to get close to him before we graduate high school. He thinks we’re faking.

Meanwhile, I’m falling more in love with him....

Game Plan is perfect for anyone who likes their sweet romance with a dash of drama. It is the fourth book in the Varsity Girlfriends series.

This was an adorable story that I really enjoyed. I was in the mood for a high school fake romance trope and this one didn't disappoint.

I really liked the characters. Daria was easy to connect with and she was a well-developed character. We get to see the world through her eyes and really get to know her. Apart from her crush on her best friend's brother and all the drama that comes along with high school, we also get to know her family life and the struggles that she has there. She has controlling parents that are a little extreme and she deals with them while trying to figure out where she wants to go to college and where she wants her life to go after high school. Preston is a likable character though sometimes he seemed a bit clueless. We didn't get as much development with him but there was enough to keep the story rolling. Preston, much like Daria, is concerned about his future and feels a little lost where his future is concerned. His parents don't have a lot of money and he didn't get a basketball scholarship as he had hoped. He is clinging on to the one thing that was a constant in his life and that was his ex-girlfriend, Beth.

I liked the fake relationship trope in this. Daria is hoping to show Preston how good they could be together and Preston's goal was to make his ex jealous so that they could get back together. The plan starts to work for Preston but after spending so much time with Daria he is confused about his feelings.

I really liked the side characters in this as well. It really has me excited to read the other books in this series.

Overall, I was happy with the outcome of the story. This is a fun read with a sweet romance that will keep you glued to the pages. I can't wait for more from this author.

Fun, quirky, G-rated, YA, fake-boyfriend plot

High-school senior, Daria, has had a secret crush on Preston, her best friend Charlie's brother, since fifth grade. But Daria has never confided in Charlie about her embarrassing, unrequited infatuation, so Charlie has no idea what a difficult position she's putting Daria in when she comes up with the bright idea to have Daria fake-date Preston. His beautiful, cheating ex has dumped him for another guy, and Charlie is convinced that her poor, abandoned brother can win back his girlfriend by making her jealous. Daria has plenty of doubts about this crazy plan, the biggest one being that Preston is well rid of his awful ex, but Charlie won't take, no, for an answer. And, truthfully, Charlie doesn't have to push Daria terribly hard, because the temptation is overwhelming for Daria to grab this golden opportunity to finally get up-close-and-personal with Preston. Maybe, just maybe, while they are pretending to be in love--and sharing strategically staged hugs and kisses--Preston might fall for her, for real.

This is the fourth and final book in the G-rated, young-adult, romantic-comedy, Varsity Girlfriends series. Daria and Preston continue the author's excellent track record of offering sympathetic romantic protagonists embroiled in quirky, romantic situations. There are cameo appearances in the book of the female protagonists and their boyfriends from the previous three books in the series. They appear in an unforced, natural way due to the fact that these three other girls are on their school's basketball team with Daria.

However, even though Daria plays varsity basketball, there is a bit less focus on female sports in this book than the other three, since Daria is more of a scholar than an outstanding basketball player. Interestingly, though, Daria's lack of sports clout leads to some some cute scenes where Preston, who actually is a basketball star, coaches Daria after she informs him that she wants to improve her basketball skills.

Overall, this is a fun read for fans of "sports romance," "friends-to-romance" and "fake dating" plots.

I rate this book as follows:

Heroine: 4 stars
Hero: 4 stars
Subcharacters: 4 stars
Romance Plot: 4 stars
Writing: 4 stars
Overall: 4 stars

Definitely was a game plan with a end goal

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2019...

••••Spoilers in this review••••

Soooo; dude, I been planning to read this book! I couldn’t wait for it to come out... I was like I am so ready for Preston and Daria to date... but somehow; I forgot her name was Daria I thought it was something else for some reason. I don’t know why; but anyway it’s crazy to think that both Preston and Daria actually liked each other but was hiding their feelings for each other. Though half the time Preston was an idiot... I was a little mad that he did that to Daria over spring break... I’m like wow not cool; to not tell the person you were supposedly dating that you got back with your ex.

Though; in the book with Preston and I believe it was Mackey, Beth seem like an okay person, but turn out she was just horrible. But between Beth; being a turd... I want to know if Anderson will find someone to tame him; or is it the girl he (Anderson) taken to the prom? Will the author write a story on him who knows.

Game Plan is the conclusion of Varsity Girlfriends and I think it was the perfect way to end the series. Not only do we get to read about two 'new' (they have been mentioned before) and fun characters, but we also get a little glimpse of how the others are doing (especially Charlie and Jackson). I love knowing how things continued after their books ended.

Back to Game Plan, Daria and Preston have known each other for quite some time. Preston is Daria's best friend's brother. Daria is a hardworking student that has been hiding her crush for years. So when her best friend wants her to pretend to be Preston's fake girlfriend things get complicated.

I really enjoyed Daria. She's got a good head on her shoulders and even though the fake relationship means more to her than it does to Preston, part of her hopes it will make him like her. Not only is she dealing with that, but also with parents who are determined to control her future. She becomes a lot more confident during this book. Daria learns how to stand up for herself and her feelings, even if it isn't the easiest thing to do.

Preston is a character I enjoyed reading about in Courtside Crush, so I was curious how his story would go. Beth wasn't a character I liked in the beginning and after reading this even more so, haha. Even though I wanted to smack Preston and tell him to wake up many times, he's really sweet. I mean heading over to Daria's house during a snowstorm was very brave. In the end Preston also grows and you get to understand a little more why he hangs on to certain things. His gesture at the end definitely made him bookboyfriend-worthy!

If you're looking for a book with humor, best friends, family and some complicated romance, definitely pick up this book. I really love how it ended and I have to say I would love another book about Daria, Preston, Charlie & Jackson when they're off in college. They're all so fun, I need more!

And as a fun bonus, the author added a little extra fun to this story if you've read her previous books. I love when authors do stuff like that! I can't wait to read what Kayla does next!

Game Plan is the fourth and final book in the Varsity Girlfriends serie. This one is written once again by Kayla Tirrel. Although I loved the second and third, the first and this one are my favorites. In this book we get to know Daria better, the best friend of Charlie from the first book and her long crush on Charlie's brother Preston. She agrees to be his pretend girlfriend to win back his ex Beth, but maybe she can show him she is his better match. I loved it and can wait to read more by this author.

I love this book so much! It's a wonderful read full of cute romantic moments, supportive friendships, basketball games, and mother-daughter bonding.
Daria is an entertaining and relatable high school senior who's trying to figure out her future as graduation approaches. Besides choosing which university to attend and trying to keep her strict parents happy, she also struggles with her crush on her best friend's brother, Preston. She's been in love with him since fifth grade when he was the only one in class who gave her a valentine because she was the new girl.
As if that isn't cute enough, things only get sweeter as Daria agrees to her best friend Charlie's idea to fake-date Preston to make his ex-girlfriend Beth jealous. Preston keeps finding new ways to be adorable with Daria, from getting her morning lattes to giving her gossip-worthy kisses at school.
I really like how Charlie and Jackson's relationship from Courtside Crush continues in this wonderful conclusion to the Varsity Girlfriends series. There are lots of character cameos from previous books in the series, which makes for an epic fourth and final book.
Game Plan is an excellent book and I loved reading it. I highly recommend it for fans of sweet high school romances with a sporty twist.

omg i just finished reading this one for the second time. IT WAS SO GOOD!!!! ugh i absolutely loved it. somehow it was better the second time- just like courtside crush. i literally don't know how. the romance was so adorable!! watching Preston fall for her slowly but surely, and how he treated her even when no one was watching. everything about this book had me squealing and giggling. i love how it's like a cheesy rom com but as a book lol.
it's very very close, but i think i might actually like this one better than courtside crush.... maybe.... idk tho.
LOVED THIS BOOK AND TOTALLY RECOMMEND!!!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know that this book has been on my TBR for quite some time now...and you probably also know that I'm obsessed with fake relationship romances.

I remember when I first read about Daria and Preston in Courtside Crush, and I just thought that they were good characters...well, I was wrong. They were GREAT characters!! This book really made me fall in love with them individually andddd as a couple! 👏 👏 👏

Daria's crush on Preston was just sooooo innocent/sweet, and it was easy to see why she liked him so much...even when he was oblivious at times. 🙄 BUT OH MY GOSH did he have me swooning! Seriously, he was a great combo of confident and thoughtful. He honestly reminded me a lot of Cohen from Eye of the Beholder by Gracie Ruth Mitchell...so, it's no surprise that I loveddddd him!!

As far as content goes: I honestly don't remember any language whatsoever; and if there were any suggestive comments (which I also can't remember lol), they were veryyy minor. So, no worries if you're looking for a clean read!

Despite it being "fake," Daria and Preston's relationship was ADORABLE. They were literally couple goals, y'all. The teasing, the flirting...THAT FIRST KISS?! I had alllll the feels.

That being said, if you're looking for a cute breezy fake dating/best friend's brother sports romance...you need to read this one ASAP!!!

I enjoyed this story. I was a little cliché, but still enjoyable.

I liked getting to see more of Daria. We were introduced to her in the first book (also by Kayla Tirrell). It was fun getting to see more of her and let her be in the forefront this time. Along, with that, I loved seeing Charlie again. Daria was a great friend to her and now it was time for Charlie to return the favor.

I am not quite sure where I stand on Preston. He is a great big brother to Charlie, although sometimes made rash decisions. I didn't love how he treated Daria after he knew her true feelings. But maybe he is just a clueless guy. I also would have loved for him to stick up for Daria in front of Beth.

Daria's mom was little crazy I thought. I get being protective of your daughter and not loving a boy spending the night, but there was a valid reason. And if she was so concerned, she should not be leaving her daughter overnight. Grounding her and taking away her phone seemed a bit excessive. Not to mention she should have some faith in her daughter. And the idea that she would ask the principal to "report" on Daria is absurd.
I also thought it was a bit odd how quickly her parents turned around their thoughts on college. I am glad they did, but considering their plan was always for Daria to attend Cornell, I think they would have put up more of a fight.

This book was fun, and a great end (for now?) to the Varsity Girlfriends series.

This author sucks me more in with every book she writes. I loved this story so much. I wasn't sure who the couple was going to be this turn around, but man was it knocked out of the park. This book is written in Daria's point of view, Charlie's best friend from the series book 1.

I loved following Daria. Obviously I got parts of her in book 1, but it was nice to get to see her in the spotlight and get to understand what is going through her head. I wanted to hug her so much in this book with all she had to go through, but she was so strong through it all.

Preston I wanted to strangle through part of it. I love him but man I wanted him to open his eyes. Guys can be so clueless sometimes! I still loved him too though and really enjoyed reading his interactions with Daria.

This book is such a cute sports contemporary YA romance that will leave you with a smile on your face for well after you close the last page. I found my emotions all over the place in this book because the characters felt so real. I know this book and series has become one of my favorites and I will be re-reading them for years to come.

Game Plan was such a fun, sweet, and charming high school romance! Stories about unrequited crushes (that turn requited, of course) are some of my favorites, so add that to my love for a good fake-boyfriend storyline and I was completely invested in this story.

I enjoyed watching Preston and Daria's relationship develop. Those two were definitely too cute together! Daria was an easy girl to root for and I loved being inside her head.

I admit Preston could be such a clueless boy at times, but still adorable nonetheless. I may have wanted to smack him a quite a bit, but the guy was impossible not to like.

Game Plan was a sweet, light YA contemporary romance with a sprinkle of drama. I really enjoyed it!

I love this author and this series. Not only was this book super cute it was so funny. I felt all the characters were realistic and relatable.

Preston was that boy you loved but at the same time, you wanted to nudge him in the right direction so he would realize what everyone else already knew.

Daria was the girl you cheered for and wanted so badly for things to work out for her. She was so likable, but what made her character so great was her inner monologue. Her thoughts were so funny and she was pretty self-aware, which I like in a main character.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun and easy read.

Another great book in the Varsity Girlfriends series. Daria had made some appearances in the earlier books but it was awesome
getting to know her in this capacity. I highly suggest this book and I can't wait for the next in the series!

Daria has been in love with her best friend's brother since elementary school. When Preston's girlfriend breaks up with him and Charlie asks Daria to fake a relationship with him to win back his Ex, how can Daria say no? Daria and Preston try to fool everyone with their fake relationship to make Beth jealous while Daria secretly hopes it will turn into something real.

Well, I guess that was the last book on the series, it wasn't a pleasant ride, the shear amount of stupidity in these books is appalling
In this book we will follow peterson, Charlie's brother, he is in a committed relationship with his girlfriend Beth, but suddenly she breaks up with him and he is really sad about it, so charlie comes up with a "smart" plan, to get him to fake date Daria, her friend who has a massive crush on peterson .. and the story picks up from there, if there was a story to begin with
the epilogue was nice but I really couldn't get into it .. but I have to say, out of all the series this one had the most potential to be a great story

OMG! I loved this book. "Game Plan" had to be my favorite in this series by far! I loved seeing both Daria and Preston''s chatacter''s with their own book. I did definitely want to slap Preston for being totally oblivious to Daria's feelings, but I did feel for the guy; considering he kept being jerked around by his evil ex, Beth. I loved seeing how the "plan" came to be, how it developed, and how it ended. It was good to see Charlie and Jackson back and have them as occasional supporting characters I only wish it was longer, because I was obsessed with this book! Kayla, thanks for ANOTHER great great great read. Please never stop writing; I'm literally impatient waiting for more!!!

4 stars for Game Plan by Kayla Tirrell. This is book four in the Varsity Girlfriends series. I loved this cute young adult romance. I did shed some tears for Daria. I also wanted to slap the stupid off od Preston but I did eventually get over it. I liked most of the characters and the plot. You truly can not help but love Daria and Preston as a couple. They are both such great characters. I enjoyed this short but sweet read. It did have a happy ending and gave me all the feels. I enjoyed reading it so much.

Game Plan is fantastic end to a super sweet series. This book gave me all feels! Daria and Preston were so adorable together! Preston was a silly teenage boy at times but he still made me swoon! I loved how much of Charlie and Jackson from book one we got in this story. Kayla did a great job at including them without over shadowing Daria and Preston's story. Game Plan was everything I wanted and needed to finish up this series. It's so good I feel like need to go read Courtside Crush again!

Perfect ending to the series. :)

I really enjoyed Daria and Preston's story, although - as other reviewers have mentioned - I occasionally felt a little exasperated with Preston's cluelessness.
It was great to see Daria figure out what she wanted to do with her "life after high school" and stand up for herself.
And, yeah, it was fun to watch Preston eventually figure out that he and Daria might just be perfect for each other. :)

An enjoyable fun quirky fake boyfriend clean YA sports romance.  This engaging storyline had my interest from start to finish. Its includes friendship, a crush, a cheating ex, a crazy plan, cluelessness, and a little drama. The characters were fun, interesting, and well developed. I enjoyed seeing other characters from previous stories in the series in this fantastic standalone. The narration did a great job of giving all characters their own voices along with portraying the emotions and spunk of each. Really made me feel everything as I voluntarily listened and reviewed this amazing story adding an extra layer of enjoyment.

I am so sad that I’ve finished the Varsity Girlfriend’s series!! Though, I am glad that it ended with Preston!

We got a glimpse of Preston in Courtside Crush when he played the over protective brother role, so I was thrilled to have a whole book dedicated to him (and Daria of course)!

I loved the whole plot of this book and it was probably my favorite in the series besides Courtside Crush.

Who doesn’t love the “fake relationship turned real?” Or the “fall in love with your best friends brother” scenario?!

(4.5 stars) - the best for last!

This is a bit like a continuation of Courtside Crush that switches from Charlie in the first book to Daria in the second. It's not necessary to read the first to enjoy this one, as it stands alone just fine, but it does provide a fuller understanding and appreciation of the story in my opinion.

Daria is a good girl, for the most part. She's trying to please her parents and make them happy with her. It never works. She's had a crush on Preston for years. Ironically, when she gets a chance to go out with him & it appears as though things could be looking up, instead her life seems to start falling apart.

Daria, while not a pushover, is still surprisingly acquiescent. Initially I was frustrated that she didn't stand up for herself more, but realized that she was right in believing her parents weren't going to listen. She was fortunate her aunt was able to help, but I did wish that she could have found a way to advocate for herself.

Preston's obtuseness is maybe a little hard to believe, but he's earnest enough & his apology is so sweet & kinda funny that you can't help but want her to forgive him. They do go really well together!

While the story is improbable, it is told believably enough to just sit back and enjoy the ride. The characters are easy to like and care about.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses

Game Plan (Varsity Girlfriends #4) was a great read by Kayla Tirrell. Daria has always had a crush on her best friends brother, Preston. She has never told anyone including her best friend, Charlie, about her crush. Preston’s girlfriend broke his heart and Charlie tries to get them back together. Her plan is for Daria and Preston to pretend to date. Reluctantly Daria agrees although she winds up falling more in love with him every day. I really enjoyed listening to Daria and Preston’s story and can’t wait to read more by Kayla Tirrell.

This was a cute, quick YA romance read. Preston our hero is the brother of our heroines best friend. they have a close relationship that has never gone beyond friends. when they are put into a compromising /beneficial situation, their feelings get blurred. full of romance, tension and growth, this is sure to hit the spot.

Daria and Preston's story doesn't beat Lane and Mackey's story but it was a solid second best of the series. Daria pulled off the role of really good friend, head over heels in love without being a complete door mat. Preston was the clueless idiot who took too long to see what he was missing while still being awesome enough to hope Daria wins him over. This book was a good read. Hopefully it isn't the last of the series. There are a ton of other characters with stories to tell.

Ok

I thought the book had great potential but it's just ok. It's very cliche. But I love cliche. I just didnt like how some things went down. I guess I'm just nit picking. Like how the whole school found out about it. Or how she confess to her love to him in front of his ex. I would not read again.

Another good book and a great way to end the series. I liked Charlie and Preston in the first book but I didn't expect the last book to be about Preston. I honestly thought that him and Beth would stay together but she wasn't really a main character or much of a side character like Preston was so I should have figured something would happen. I liked him as a character though and it was cool to see how Charlie and Jackson are doing.
Part of me felt that I had read this story already because this book and the first one kinda had the same plot. It was a little interesting that Charlie came up with the same plan for her brother that she used herself to get Jackson when she fake dated Ryan. Unless I am getting books messed up and am reading too many of the same thing. lol
I liked Daria as a character also though and felt bad for her because she actually had feelings for Preston while she was supposedly trying to get him and Beth back together. Her parents also didn't seem to be involved very much in her life but then all of a sudden cared when Preston came into the picture. Her mom kinda irritated me with that one and how she acted towards everything.
Beth was portrayed a little better in the first book but I didn't really like her in the last book. I felt like she was kind of a bitch and she did a really crappy thing to Daria. I'm glad things turned out the way they did and that this story finished strong. I am sad to say this series is over but I'm excited to see what else these authors come up with.
