SELL LOW, SWEET HARRIET by Sherry Harris is the eighth book in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale cozy mystery series. The story takes place in Massachusetts and while the books can be read stand-alone, I believe it is best to read them in order to fully appreciate the main character’s growth over time.

Sarah Winston has a garage sale business where she helps homeowners with pricing, organization and much more. She has a new client, the daughter of a couple who recently died in an accident overseas. Since they traveled extensively, their house is full of items from around the world. When an intruder breaks in and a hidden camera is found, the job becomes dangerous. In addition to this, Sarah is asked by Special Agent Bristow and Ellington police officer Scott Pellner, to listen, observe and report back on any information she finds regarding a murder at the nearby Air Force base. As a former military spouse she still has friends on base and volunteers at the base thrift store.

I discovered this series in October of 2018 when I was able to purchase the first five books in the series at a friends of the library book sale. It became my favorite cozy mystery series. I did not realize that I had missed books six and seven, but when I saw this one, I knew I wanted to read it.

Sarah Winston is a likeable main character that feels real and three-dimensional with her own distinct flaws and virtues. Her goals are always clear and with believable motivations. The story is engrossing, well-paced, and insightful with several twists and turns. Since the story takes place both on the air force base and in the nearby small town, it brings an unusual setting to a cozy mystery.

Overall, I enjoyed this well-written novel and recommend the series to those that enjoy cozy mysteries and yard sales or estate sales. This is the sixth book that I have read by this author and I am already looking forward to reading the other two in the series that I have not read.

Thanks to Kensington Books and Sherry Harris for a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.

Author Sherry Harris pens a relaxing, yet attention grabbing rush of a read! One of her best books yet!

Protagonist Sarah Winston seems to be a magnet for trouble. She organizes garage and estate sales and the one she just signed up for may be the most epic sale yet!

Hired by a sister and brother to inventory and sell their deceased CIA agents parents home full of items purchased from around the globe; Sarah needs assistance with such a large project. New character, Harriet Ballow is introduced and she’s a fantastic addition to this fun series! The CIA couple’s death was mysterious and someone appears to be searching for something they had. It’s a great murder mystery plot!

Sarah is also helping law enforcers at Fitch Air Force Base (her home away from home) try to decipher a murder case. The mysteries in this novel are superbly interwoven so that the change from one to the other in dialogue or description is easy to understand. I always enjoy the humor, and visiting one of my most favorite casts of secondary characters that help make this series unforgettable. The awesome ending made me cheer—Yessss!

I highly recommend the Sarah Winston Garage Sale series to mystery lovers!

I reviewed a galley arc provided by Kensington Publishing for an honest review. Thank you.

Sarah Winston is back in another humor filled mystery adventure. Finishing was a little bittersweet for me as I am now out of Garage Sale Mystery books to read (there is one more after this one, but I discovered that one first). Sarah is actually asked to do her brand of investigating or listening by base and local law enforcement in a mystery of a woman, Alicia, murdered on base. In between trying to figure out what happened to Alicia she is also trying to clear out the home of two retired CIA agents who passed away for their daughter. But being Sarah of course danger and mystery follow her so while she is sorting someone attempts to break in and steal things. I really liked the mysteries and continuing developmental of the characters and their relationships.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Sarah Winston’s business is slow during the colder blustery months but an estate sale is the perfect thing to keep her garage sale business in the black. A couple recently died while in Africa and their daughter has hired Sarah to liquidate the couple’s belongings. As retired CIA agents the couple traveled the world and collected a vast number of exotic items. The house is full of treasures. Treasures others seem to be interested in because there is a break-in, a suspicious visitor, and a hidden camera placed in the house. Sarah is nervous being the house alone and because it is a huge job she hires a couple of ladies from the nearby Air Force Base to assist her hoping there is safety in numbers. That is when she meets Harriet, a former FBI hostage negotiator with a flair for sales. She also has other talents that may come in handy.

Sarah has also been tasked to keep her eyes and ears open when on the base to help the authorities wrap up a murder that took place there. So instead of telling her to butt out of the investigation Sarah now feels she has permission to snoop.

Ms. Harris weaves two strong mysteries together this time to give her readers a real treat.

I was delighted to catch up with this group of special characters. Sarah’s life continues to unfold after her divorce from CJ. I really enjoy the relationship she is building with Seth. An old neighbor returns to rent the apartment next door and landlady/friend Stella’s relationship with Nathan Bossom (Awesome) may have hit a snag. Carol Carson, friend, and owner of Paint and Wine and Angelo and Rosalie DiNapoli are around to serve up advice and be sounding boards. The DiNapoli’ also serve up some mouthwatering Italian dishes that will make your mouth water. We are also introduced to several new characters. The dialogues between the characters in realistic and relationships make sense. Several subplots immerge allowing all the characters to really shine.

The mysteries are very well-plotted. I really liked the police asking Sarah for help even though she does go beyond their instructions just like they had to know she would. I enjoyed the twists and turns that played out with the estate sale mystery. The author really impressed me with the way both mysteries developed side by side to keep Sarah on her toes. Frankly, I was on my toes as well, completely drawn in but still putting clues together until all was revealed. Sherry Harris is also an expert at adding humor in all the right places. She had me truly giggling in places. I loved the ending too!

Entertaining and filled with wonderful characters Sell Low, Sweet Harriet, is an excellent addition to this series. The entire series are must-reads for all cozy lovers.

In the middle of a cold January, Fitch Air Force Base is rocked by the murder of one of the servicemen’s wives. Sarah Winston knew the victim slightly since they both volunteered at the base’s thrift shop. When Sarah is asked to help the police by listening, and only listening, and sharing what she learns, she agrees. But can she keep it to just listening? Meanwhile, since January is slow for Sarah’s garage sale business, she is thrilled when someone contacts her about holding an estate sale. The woman’s parents were retired CIA and had traveled the globe, so the house is filled with all sorts of treasures. But Sarah soon concludes someone is after something hidden in the house. Can she figure out what it is?

While the garage sale is really a sub-plot, it is a strong sub-plot and we spend almost as much time there as we do with the murder. I did feel the plot got a bit distracted early on, but it didn’t last for long, and that might have been me more than the book. Even then, I was pulled into the story, and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The ending made perfect sense when Sarah figured it all out. Sarah has surrounded herself with a great group of friends and neighbors, and I was thrilled to spend time with each of them again. The new characters are strong as well. There are several sub-plots that allow the supporting characters chances to shine. We even get a couple of funny moments that just might make you laugh at loud. Each book in this series is a delight, and this is another adventure sure to please Sarah’s fans.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book.

Thanks NetGalley and @Kensingtonbooks for this advance copy in return for an honest review. For me The Garage Sale Mysteries have fast become on of, if not my favorite cozy mysteries. This is book 8 and we have a very comfortable set of characters from lead character Sarah Winston, to her DA boyfriend Seth, her landlady Stella, the military and civilian investigators and more. He we have a very fast-paced, and well plotted book that manages to solve a host of crimes in a decent manner - no sudden leaps of faith or plot. As always there is a military base involved in the crime, along with others. By now this poor Sarah Winston must wonder if all her clients are criminals. A military wife is dead, as well as two folks who worked for the CIA and died in Africa and whose daughter has hired Sarah to conduct a winter garage sale of their home. There is also our friendly mob guy who had his cheese store torched and all of which becomes part of a great big and fun book. Keep up the great work Sherry Harris!

Sarah accepts an estate sale job from a woman whose parents were killed overseas. Their home is decorated with unique objects, including art and artifacts. But they were no ordinary couple; they were CIA agents. When someone impersonating the client's brother enters the home looking for something of "his parents," Sarah is frightened but determined to complete the job and identify "Fake Troys" real identity. On the military base where she still volunteers at the thrift shop, Sarah learns that a popular military wife has been found dead under suspicious circumstances. Between the two plots, Sarah is very busy!
I've read all the prior books in the series and enjoyed them very much; this book is no exception. It can be read as a standalone , though it is helpful to know the back stories. There were a lot of characters about which I had mixed feelings. One on hand, there are more people in the suspect pool and opportunities for red herrings. On the other, there were so many to remember, especially on the military side. Hard to keep track of which spouse was married to which person in rank, etc.
I am glad that Sarah and Seth's romance is a part of the book, but not to the point where it overpowers the mystery plot. Her trepidation at wanting to get involved more seriously is understandable, given her devastating divorce from CJ. Overall, a very relaxing, well-paced read which I highly recommend.
Thanks to NetGally and Kensington for an ARC. My review is voluntary.

This installment in the series had quite a bit going on, keeping Sarah very busy! All of the usual cast of characters showed up, making for a fun read. There was a new addition, Harriet, who assisted Sarah in getting ready for one of her garage sales. She was quite the character!

I liked the quick pace of this one, and was a little surprised to find out who was behind the murder on the military base. The direction that the relationship between Sarah and Seth is going has me pleased. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Author Sherry Harris had delivered another delightful entry in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery series. When I pick up a book in this series I know that I am in for several hours of entertainment and enjoyment. This book did not disappoint. I like the main character Sarah Winston. It has been fun watching her grow and change from the first book. I was a bit disappointed when her relationship with CJ did work out but I like where the author is taking the storyline with Seth. I don't feel like it is being rushed or forced. The regular cast of secondary characters return to help Sarah, only this time, the police are actually asking for her assistance. The mystery is solid and woven nicely throughout the story. There are two mysteries that unfold in this book and each one left me guessing until the reveal.

This is a series that has everything I look for when reading a cozy mystery series. The protagonist is likable and entertaining; the setting and theme allow for a variety of crimes to investigate and the mystery is solid and kept me engaged throughout the book. This is a series I continue to return to and will be back for the next installment.

I voluntarily read a digital ARC provided to me by the publisher, Kensington, through Netgalley.

This is the 8th book in the Garage Sale Mysteries. I've only read the one before this but I still felt a bit
lost. There's quite a bit of back story that I haven't read and too many characters for me to follow. However, this is a good mystery with lots of suspense, and not just related to the murder. The author really captures MA, with the repeated references to Dunkin Donuts and Fluffernutters. The thing I really like about this series is the references to military base life. The base is a fascinating microcosm of society, with it's own unique politics, personalities, and problems. I look forward to returning to Ellington!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

As both an avid reader and a lover of garage sales--seriously, I was featured in my local paper for yard saling!--this book seemed like it was right up my alley. I'd never read a secular "cozy mystery" before, but, I figured it would be fun.

For the most part, it was; the whodunit was exciting, and there were plenty of twists and turns. However, I didn't care for the fact that the protagonist was living with a man to whom she wasn't married. I would have liked it even more had it not been for that unfortunate plot detail.

Sarah is hired to sell the contents of a house for a couple that had just died. They were former CIA agents so have lots of interesting things from their travels. I found myself more interested in what they were finding than in the mystery. She is also investigating a murder on the base, dealing with being on base when she is no longer a service person's spouse. Someone intruded when she was in the house and she is trying to figure why someone would pretend to be the son of the owners and how he knew about them.

This was another solid entry into this series. I always like the way Harris involves the military base in each mystery, as this is a unique setting I don't see anywhere else. I also never get tired of the mysterious events that seem to occur as Sarah plans for or puts on garage sales. (A case of mistaken identity was an especially fun and surprising part of this book!) All my favorite characters from previous installments were involved once again in this story, and in addition to piecing together the clues surrounding two different mysteries, it was also enjoyable to check in on their relationships and personal lives. (I had an ARC of this book from NetGalley, but since it had already been released when I started reading it, I opted to listen to the audiobook. Hillary Huber is a favorite narrator, and I really enjoyed her performance!)

Sell Low, Sweet Harriet, the 8th book in A Sarah W. Garage Sale Mystery series hits all the right notes as a great mystery and an outstanding novel. Author Sherry Harris imbues the characters with depth and dimension that few people expect of a cozy mystery. Sarah's life and her relationships with other characters have been dynamic from the beginning. We have had the great experience of watching her grow into a stronger self-assured woman since her divorce. After years of devoting herself full time to her role as a military spouse the transition into a dating woman developing her own business has not been easy. Some of the choices she has made have surprised her as much as they have surprised the reader but we cheer her on through every step. Those unexpected decisions help keep the series fresh and keep the reader devoted to the series.

Even though I pre-ordered a copy of Sell Low, Sweet Harriet, I requested an ARC from NetGalley just because I couldn't wait. I always review books I love and I love all the books in this series. I was thrill to be approved.

The newest addition to Sherry Harris’ “A Sarah W. Garage Sale Mystery” cozy book series from Kensington Publishing hit the shelves in December and is already a hit.

Sarah has been a favorite character in this cozy book series since the first book. She is strong, independent, loyal, and trustworthy. As a character, she is everything readers could want in a heroine. Her amateur sleuthing skills are growing with each new book. Other returning characters, such as Stella, Mike, and Seth, are charismatic and move the plot along smoothly. The authentic military life has always been a big appeal to this series, and this holds once again in this new volume. The setting isn’t described in detail, but there is enough to keep readers interested and turning the page.

Not everything is as it seems, and Sarah has to unravel the evidence of not one, but two crimes to find the bad guys. Suspects are plentiful, and red herrings abound. The ending of this cozy book will surprise many readers. Overall, I found Sell Low, Sweet Harriet, to be a refreshing read and a fantastic addition to the series.

Sarah Winston shines in this fabulous addition to the series by Sherry Harris.
As an ex military spouse, Sarah is used to going on base, volunteering at the thrift shop, and visiting her old friends. Unfortunately, some people find it odd that she still has a presence on base, so when she's asked to assist in a murder investigation, tongues begin to wag and makes things worse for her.
When Sarah gets a new garage sale job, she couldn't be happier, especially when she finds out the deceased owners were retired cia agents.
An impersonator, a hidden camera, and and exuberant assistant are just a few of the things Sarah is up against in Sell Low, Sweet Harriet.
You won't want to miss this exciting page Turner.

Another winner in this excellent series. There are several minor loose threads that promise to be tied up in future entries, making me anxious to read the next one. As for the main plot and one particular issue in Sarah's personal life, those both came to very satisfactory conclusions.

Princess Fuzzypants here: I have always enjoyed the Sarah Winston series as she rebuilds her life after her divorce from her husband. She has kept many of the military ties she had while married but she starts to question how her connections are perceived when some very catty woman start to badmouth her presence on the Base.
She is there at the request of the investigator looking into the murder of an officer’s wife. She is also working on a huge estate garage sale for the children of parents who were CIA operatives before retirement. While she is pricing their belongings, a man turns up claiming to be the son. It is not until he is carted away by ambulance that she discovers he is a fraud. It is only the beginning of the weird occurrences in her life that follow. They include a retired FBI agent who is, to say the least, colourful. Sarah gets herself into all sorts of situations although she is impulsive and she does acknowledge danger when it confronts her, although it is often after the fact.
Between the two major plot lines there is also the continuing romance between Seth and Sarah and her unusual relationship with a mob boss. I suppose you could probably pick up this book and just read it but I think you would enjoy things so much more if you had followed the progression of the stories from the beginning.

This is the eighth book in the Sarah Winton Garage Sale mystery series by Sherry Harris.

This is my first foray into the world Harris has created and I am intrigued to say the least. This is a combo of garage sales, CIA/spies and military wives.

Sarah Winston takes you on a journey from page one. I can see how she gets herself in trouble so quickly. In this story Sarah is helping clean out the parent's house of a new client. When someone who claimed to be the client's brother showed up and caused a stir, Sarah knew she was in trouble. There was so many valuable items on site, it was no wonder thieves came calling.

This book is very complex in its structure and all the characters are all fully crafted and it feels like you are learning about them while talking with a friend.

I definitely need to learn more of the backstory of this series. I am so intrigued that I am planning to start this series at book one and read the first seven in 2020.

If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out. You won't be disappointed.

I received this ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this title.

It’s January and Sarah Winston has an estate sale that she picked up during her slowest season. But it’s not just any estate sale, it’s the home of a former couple who worked for the CIA and things get down right interesting from the get go. While Sarah is working through the contents at the home, the son of the deceased shows up and is knocked out while in the office going through papers. Turns out it’s not the son and he escapes from the hospital.

In addition, a young wife is murdered on the base and Sarah is asked to keep her eyes and ears open to help with the case. When one of the officers wives is suspected of the murder, the woman asks Sarah to help clear her name. With so much craziness going on and conflicting stories, how does Sarah separate fact from fiction? Can she or will she be the next victim?

This series is always a fun break from reality. Well written and a solid whodunit with a list of suspects and red herrings to keep you guessing until the end.

Sarah is back with another sale...and another murder! There was a lot going on in this one to keep you entertained. The murder was separate from her sale so she stayed busy throughout the novel. The CIA items were fun to read about. I liked that the police talked with Sarah (instead of yelling and reprimanding) and let her talk to people close to the murdered to help them out. The trust is building and I hope it continues! Also, I really hope they aren't throwing another love interest her way with Mike!! I really like her with Seth!

Sell Low, Sweet Harriet by Sherry Harris is the 8th book in the Garage Sale Mystery series. I love this series, and this book is no exception. Sarah Winston is a well developed main character, who I really like. Sarah makes a living by organizing sales for people and businesses. Sarah once again is caught up in trouble, when she is getting ready for an estate sale for a young women, who parents, former CIA agents, have died. Some one is looking for something in the house, and Sarah has to figure out what it is. On top of that she has been ask by the police to let them know if she hears anything about the murdered women on base. This mystery has it all, a great plot that is well developed along with great characters. I strongly recommend this book for all cozy mystery lovers, To get the most out of the books read them in order, you won't be disappointed. I can not wait for Sarah's next adventure. I strongly recommend this book and series.

Sell Low, Sweet Harriet
A Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery (book 8)
by Sherry Harris
4⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sell Low, Sweet Harriet is 8th book in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery series.  Sarah finds herself helping to investigate the mysterious death of Alicia Arbas.  She doesn't know her very well but she feels connected to her because they have many similarities and they have volunteered togethered a few times.  Alicia's death was at first thought to be accidental but the investigation shows that it was not an accident.  While Sarah is helping the police with the investigation she is also working at her garage sale business.  She is hired to sell everything in a home where the couple had recently passed away.  They were former CIA agents. Sarah is excited about what she might find while going through house.  She finds more than she bargained for when someone breaks into the home while she is preparing for the garage sale. What could the person be looking for?  Is it safe to continue with the garage sale?

This is a fun series.  I liked Sarah's personality and found her to be very likable.  She was also intelligent and easy going.  The garage sale aspect is always something that interests me.  There were multiple storylines happening which kept the story interesting.  She goes between the military base and investigating a possible murder to the house preparing for the garage sale with numerous problems there too.

This was a great read ! This is the eighth book in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale cozy mystery series. I have read the entire series and am always thrilled to read a next in series. I highly recommend this series for all who enjoy a fun mystery series with great charcters What I love about this series is so much. I enjoy the well rounded charcters and the clever protagonist. I enjoy the well crafted sleuth in each book as the author has a great talent for creating a fun mystery . The moral fiber of the charcters and the setting is always appreciated . All the elements are here for a great cozy series that I hope will continue for many more books. , I enjoy that it takes place near a military base where Sarah has many friendships she values .

In this next in series our clever protagonist Sarah Winston has a new client in her Garage Sale business. .She has built the business up on her own and I appreciate her development throughout this series. She is in demand now and very well respected. Her new client is the daughter of a couple that passed away and had a fascinating house full of items from all over the world. They were in the spy business for the government and many items they collected are worth a lot of money. Sarah is tasked with pricing every item in the home and is in the home alone when a man comes in and falsely represents himself as part of the family and even fools her client on the phone. Sarah returns to her tasks at hand thinking he can legitimately go through the house until she hears a noise and finds that he has been murdered in the study and the suspect has escaped . She finds he was going through the office and had been searching for something when she finds the office in disarray.

As Sarah has helped the police and the base solve murders in the past , she is tasked by the police and military investigator to assist in the investigation. She does not hesitate as she knows many people and also finds clues to the recent death of a military wife that occurred on base. Her relationship with Seth is a nice part of the story with just the right amount of romance but does not overtake the mystery even when he prefers she stay clear of murder investigations. Sarah has a kindness about her that helps her with her investigations as she finds clues. I like that she is moral and practices good manners and kindness.

I loved this next in series with a well crafted sleuth that kept me guessing to conclusion. The author has all the perfect elements here of a great mystery with fascinating charcters, a multi layered sleuth and the perfect protagonist that is savvy and smart. I look forward to the next in series ! Thank you to Net Galley and to the author and publisher for the opportunity for review. My review opinion is my own.,
